KBBI, Aug 4, 2015 (emphasis added): Bird Death Reports Are Up In Homer, Food Sources Possibly To Blame — The Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is receiving multiple reports indicating a significant increase in dead and dying birds found on beaches… Leslie Slater is the Gulf of Alaska Unit Biologist for the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge… says there are a lot of potential reasons for the increase in fatalities but the prevailing cause is likely tied to the birds’ food sources.

“What we’re seeing more precisely is that birds seem to be starving. That’s sort of the ultimate cause of their deaths but something might be happening before that… biotoxins can build up through the food chain and ultimately cause the deaths of these birds.” These deaths don’t seem to be isolated to Homer’s beaches. There are reports of similar deaths down the Alaska Peninsula and the eastern edge of the Aleutians. Slater says it’s possible they could be related to dead whales found near Kodiak… She warns the public not to touch dead birds because they could be carrying disease.

KHNS, Jul 13, 2015: The American Bald Eagle Foundation in Haines has seen such a dramatic increase in bird rescues that they’re asking for the public’s help [to] respond to the unusually high number of injured birds… “Yeah it’s been a wave of birds, just very intense,” said raptor curator Chloe Goodson… in the past, they’ve been called to one or two bird rescues throughout the entire year… “Recently there’s just been an explosion of birds,” Goodson said… Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka [said] that June was their busiest month ever… they don’t know what is causing the dramatic increase… “food availability might not be as good as it has been in previous years.”… bird watcher and counter Pam Randles [says] she’s observed more desperate behavior in birds searching for food. She’s seen birds fighting over food, eagles trying to steal fish from people, and other risky behavior…
Alaska Raptor Center, Jul 7, 2015: … the busiest June we’ve ever had with 20 bald eagles arriving with injuries or illness. July looks to be even busier with six eagles already…

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium reports:
  • Aleutian-Pribilof region, AK… Bird die-off… There has been a number of dead herring gulls seen around town. The ones I have seen do not have any animal attack marks.
  • Aleutian-Pribilof region, AK… Bird die-off… there were reports from our Executive Director, that while she was on her regular evening walk, she was spotting dead birds, mostly seagulls and magpies. She said most of which either had no head and looked as if no other animal has touched them… The community is concerned if whether or not there is a sickness in these birds causing them to die.
  • Near Pribilof Islands, AK… You may have already heard about this die‐off, lots of talk in the Alaska seabird researcher community. So far birds reported floating at sea, found by researchers doing ship transects.
  • King Salmon, AK… Bald eagle observed with facial abnormality… with large growth on its right eye. They were wondering what the growth on the Eagle could possibly be?
  • Anchorage, AK… I have been seeing this bird every day… It has a very long bill or beak. He sticks in his beak, gets the seed out of the feeder and then has to throw his head back to get it down to his mouth… and drops alot of seeds… He also has trouble storing his feed in the tree. This is the first time I have seen a nuthatch like this. In the twenty years I have had my feeder, this is the first bird I have seen a bird with a deformed beak.

75% OF WORLD'S FISH HAVE BEEN WIPED OUT BY MANKIND ... COLLAPSE OF MARINE ECOSYSTEMS NOW IMMINENT

Tuesday, January 26, 2016 by: Jennifer Lea Reynolds
Tags: marine ecosystems, ecological collapse, water contamination

(NaturalNews) Many people point their fingers at climate change, underwater weapons testing, ocean quakes and biodiversity, as reasons behind the collapse of the marine ecosystem. While there's something to be said for these issues as contributing factors in the decline of marine life, the fact remains that the ongoing after-effects of Fukushima's radiation plays a significant role too.

Consider this: in 2006 – years before the nuclear disaster in Japan – a paper was published in the journal Science, which warned of the fate of marine life. Lead author Boris Worm, assistant professor of marine conservation biology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, noted that "... all fish and seafood species are projected to collapse within my lifetime -- by 2048." An abstract of that paper, entitled, Impact of Biodiversity Loss on Ocean Ecosystem Services, states that, "We conclude that marine biodiversity loss is increasingly impairing the ocean's capacity to provide food, maintain water quality, and recover from perturbations."(1,2)

Now, let's take this shocking 2048 end-of-fish-and-seafood-species statement and add to it something that hadn't yet occurred when the paper was published in 2006: Fukushima. With upwards of about 800 tonnes of Cesium-134 said to have leaked into the Pacific ocean on a daily basis ever since the 2011 disaster, it's only logical to conclude that yet another factor – radiation – can be tossed into this biodiversity/sea quakes/climate change mix when attempting to explain the tragic loss of marine life species.(3)

Sadly, 75 percent of the world's fish are depleted, a loss thought to be irreversible. It may very well be a fair conclusion to suggest that the end of fish and seafood species may come even before 2048, since Fukushima undoubtedly accelerated – and continues to accelerate – negative changes in ocean life.(3)

It's not just radiation impacting marine life, either ... There have been oil spills ..

.Sadly, this is just one of many problems plaguing water on the planet. In addition to radioactive-tainted oceans, oil spills have also wreaked havoc on marine life. For example, the 2010 BP oil rig explosion ended up dumping 200 million gallons of oil into the ocean, which researchers say left a massive oily blob, about the size of Rhode Island, at the ocean's bottom.(4)

Of the BP oil spill, Charles Fisher of Penn State University has said, "What we still don't know, and what we need to all keep in mind, is that there's the potential for sub-acute impact. In other words, things that might have happened to corals' reproductive system -- slower acting cancers, changes in the fitness of the animal. These are very hard to detect and they'll take a long time for us to see whats going on."(4)

... and fish with tumors thanks to pesticides and personal care products

There's also the problem of fish being found with cancerous tumors on their bodies, as was the case when a smallmouth bass fishermen in Pennsylvania's Susquehanna River caught such a fish in November 2014. It was the first documented case of its kind in that area, and ultimately, the highly-visible mouth protrusion was deemed a malignant tumor. Interestingly, fishermen in the area have observed increasing numbers of fish with lesions and sores, and even intersex fish, in recent years. It's thought that the likes of agricultural pesticides and human personal care products, that make their way into the water system, play a role in these devastating changes.(5)

The list goes on.

... and microbeads getting in the waterways

The issue of microbeads has also made headlines, with many states banning the sale and manufacture of them in various products. The small beads often enter waterways where fish mistake their small, round shape for eggs and ingest them. In fact, in Lake Michigan, approximately 17,000 bits of microbeads per square kilometer have been observed, shedding light on the severity of the problem.(5)

... and residents forced to drink poisonous river water

And last, but certainly not least, are the residents of Flint, Michigan, who had no choice but to drink toxic water after the governor's emergency manager disconnected the city from the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department in an effort to save money. This forced residents to drink poisonous, lead-laden water from the Flint River – a fact officials were aware of – which ended up greatly harming people's health.(6)

From our oceans right on down to local rivers, it's obvious that our water is in serious trouble. It's been gravely impacted by a variety of man-made and natural disasters, greed, ignored safety measures and so on. As such, it appears that the collapse of marine ecosystems (and much more), is an unfortunate given.

YELLOWSTONE BEGINS BISON CAPTURE

by Native News Online Staff / Currents / 04 Mar 2016

After Hundreds Killed in Boundary Hunt, Park Service Captures 150 Wild Bison for Slaughter

Published March 4, 2016

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Park rangers have begun capturing wild bison in the Stephens Creek trap within Yellowstone National Park. Since February 20, approximately 150 of America’s last wild buffalo have been trapped. According to park officials, all are destined for slaughter.

“Yellowstone’s slaughter of wild bison is as lacking in scientific reason as it is in public support,” said Buffalo Field Campaign’s Stephany Seay.

The Park Service claims that they are reducing the wild bison population due to the threat of brucellosis, a livestock disease originally brought to North America by Eurasian cattle. There has never been a documented case of wild bison transmitting brucellosis to livestock. Elk, who also carry brucellosis and have transmitted the disease to livestock numerous times in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, are free to migrate from Yellowstone and are managed by hunting based on sustainable populations in available habitat in Montana.

BFC habitat coordinator Darrell Geist says the state of Montana and Yellowstone National Park refuse to manage wild buffalo like wild elk, an alternative that would put the government out of the buffalo capture for slaughter business.

“Montana is blessed with an abundance of public lands but cursed by a statute that stands in the way of managing migratory buffalo as a wildlife species,” said Geist. “Few people know that MCA 81-2-120 is almost entirely funded by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture to back Department of Livestock management of wild buffalo. Without American taxpayer funding, Montana and Yellowstone National Park would have to changes their ways.”

Yellowstone and the other Interagency Bison Management Plan partners have stated that they want up to 900 wild bison killed this year. Over four-hundred have already been killed by hunters. The agencies aim to kill hundreds of wild bison every year until they drive the population — now estimated at 4,400 — down to just 3,000 animals. This population target is a result of livestock industry pressure to address unfounded brucellosis fears, and Yellowstone’s false premise that there are “surplus” wild bison.

BFC executive director Dan Brister questions the faulty science that Yellowstone and IBMP partners are operating under.

“There is no such thing as ‘surplus’ wild bison,” said BFC executive director Dan Brister, “Yellowstone’s target population cap of 3,000 animals is nothing more than a politically derived number that has nothing to do with carrying capacity.”

Yellowstone’s capture for slaughter operations adversely impact the wild population’s natural immunity to introduced diseases, including brucellosis, and increases the risk of more virulent and persistent strains arising in the wild population. Cumulative impacts of management actions pose a significant threat to the viability of wild buffalo remaining in Yellowstone.

Under the voluntarily agreed to Interagency Bison Management Plan, Yellowstone National Park and the other IBMP agencies continue to operate under faulty assumptions and outdated information, in contravention of the agency’s mandate to use the best available science to inform decision makers and the public.

AUSTRALIA TO SPEND OVER $11mn TO ERADICATE CARPS BY RELEASING HERPES VIRUS INTO RIVERS

Australia will spend more than US$11 million in a bid to exterminate European carp by releasing a virulent strain of herpes into the country’s largest waterway.

As much as 15 million Australian dollars will be spent on funding the clearing of the Murray-Darling Basin from the country’s worst freshwater feral pest. This will be included into Tuesday’s federal budget, Australian authorities said on Sunday.

Interestingly enough, the war on fish is to be waged by an unusual means – the water will be contaminated with a special type of herpes, known as koi herpes.
READ MORE: All viruses that infect people or animals can be detected in a single new test

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) scientists have been carrying out various tests for nearly a decade on other animals including chickens, mice, frogs, turtles and water dragons “to determine the safety and suitability” of the virus in dealing with an excessive carp population.

The virus was proven to be harmless to humans and animals, but it causes kidney failure in carps, attacks their skin and kills the fish after sitting tight in its system for about seven days.

“It causes high death rates in common carp and in the ornamental koi carp. No other species of fish, including goldfish, are known to be affected by the virus,” CSIRO official website says.

‘Environmental breakdown’: Florida Bay hit with huge seagrass die-off

“It affects the European carp by attacking their kidneys, their skin, their gills and stopping them breathing effectively,” Australian Science Minister Christopher Pyne said, according to ABC news.

“They have the virus for a week before they show any symptoms and it suddenly kills them within 24 hours,” he added.

It’s been calculated that the carp-control program planned to be launched in 2018 will kill 95 percent of the targeted fish over the next 30 years.

The project can’t be brought to life right away since it is still to be determined how to deal with dead bodies most effectively. A significant part of the budgeting is to be spent specifically on a clean-up program.

“There’s obvious talk about whether the carp could be used for fertilizer, whether they could be used for pet food, whether they'll need to be buried in large graves and be allowed to dissipate back into the system,” Pyne noted.

Carps, that were described as the “rabbits of waterways” by Australia’s Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Barnaby Joyce for how quickly they breed and spread, have brought other populations of fish in the Murray River to the verge of extinction. Apart from that, every year Australia loses up to 500 million Australian dollars (more than US$ 380 million) due to the uncontrolled population of carps, he also said.

GLOBAL DISASTER 48 - 2016

Hosea 4:1-3 ...'Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.'

Revelation 11:18 ...'And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.'

How many death animals by all these wars and military exercises on earth and on the sea?
