WHY IS NASA USING THE DISCOVERY OF 7 NEW EARTH-SIZED PLANETS TO PROMOTE THE IDEA THAT ALIEN LIFE MAY EXIST?

By Michael Snyder, on February 22nd, 2017

NASA & TRAPPIST-1: A TREASURE TROVE OF PLANETS FOUND

VIDEO : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnKFaAS30X8

NASA told us in advance that there would be a huge announcement on Wednesday, and it certainly was not a disappointment.  NASA’s declaration that 7 new Earth-sized planets had been discovered approximately 40 light years away from our sun made headlines all over the globe, and the Internet immediately started buzzing with lots of discussions about the possibility that these newly discovered worlds may have life on them.  This isn’t the kind of thing that I normally write about on The Economic Collapse Blog, but some of the things that were being said by the scientists involved in this discovery seemed quite odd.  It is one thing to say that some new planets have been found, but it is another thing entirely to start speculating about life on those planets.  With each new discovery that is made, why does it always seem like NASA is trying to promote the idea that alien life may exist somewhere out there?  Could it be possible that they are trying to mentally prepare us for something?

After the announcement was made on Wednesday, I went to the official NASA website, and sure enough in the article that had just been posted about this new discovery there was discussion about the possibility of alien life
Citation:

NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star. Three of these planets are firmly located in the habitable zone, the area around the parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water.

The discovery sets a new record for greatest number of habitable-zone planets found around a single star outside our solar system. All of these seven planets could have liquid water – key to life as we know it – under the right atmospheric conditions, but the chances are highest with the three in the habitable zone.

“This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the agency’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “Answering the question ‘are we alone’ is a top science priority and finding so many planets like these for the first time in the habitable zone is a remarkable step forward toward that goal.”

If this discovery is confirmed, it is definitely quite remarkable.

But why engage in speculation about whether or not we are alone in the universe?

You can view a YouTube video from NASA about this new discovery right here.  As you can see from the video, the scientists involved in this project are extremely excited…

Of course we must acknowledge that nobody has actually seen any of these planets.  Based on data that astronomers have been able to observe, they assume that those seven planets must be there.  The following comes from Smithsonian Magazine
Citation:

To detect these other worlds, Gillon and his team used the so-called “transit” method, one of several techniques for hunting planets. Other techniques include measuring the wobble of a star caused by a planet’s gravitational pull, observing how light from a distant star bends around a planet or capturing a direct image of the planet.

The power of the transit method comes from its simplicity: Astronomers measure the level of light from a star, and look for any dips in brightness that could be the result of a planet passing between the star and Earth. By seeing how much and how often the level of light is reduced during each “transit” of the planet in front of the star, astronomers can then estimate its size and orbit.

So it is entirely possible that scientists may be misinterpreting the data.

Someday we may find out that there are more planets in the system, or we may discover that there aren’t any planets there at all.

But assuming that those planets are actually there, what has astronomers buzzing more than anything else is the possibility that they may contain “life”
Citation:

“Looking for life elsewhere, this system is probably our best bet as of today,” study co-author Brice-Olivier Demory, a professor at the Center for Space and Habitability at the University of Bern in Switzerland, said in a statement.

The key is that these planets appear to have the right conditions for water to exist.  Without water, it is generally assumed that a planet would not be able to support life.  The following comes from an article posted on the website of The Independent entitled “Nasa’s ‘holy grail': Entire new solar system that could support alien life discovered“…
Citation:

No other star system has ever been found to contain so many Earth-sized and rocky planets, of the kind thought to be necessary to contain aliens.

The researchers might soon be able to find evidence of life on the planets, they have said. British astronomer Dr Chris Copperwheat, from Liverpool John Moores University, who was part of the international team, said: “The discovery of multiple rocky planets with surface temperatures which allow for liquid water make this amazing system an exciting future target in the search for life.”

And of course NASA is not just looking at these planets in their obsessive search for alien life.

In fact, NASA is sending a probe to one of Jupiter’s moons named Europa specifically to search for alien life
Citation:

NASA believes there’s a gigantic ocean locked beneath its frozen surface and is planning to send a robotic craft to see if aliens are swimming in it.
This week, the space agency has revealed its three goals for the upcoming search for life.

It wrote: “The primary goal is to search for evidence of life on Europa.

“The other goals are to assess the habitability of Europa by directly analyzing material from the surface, and to characterize the surface and subsurface to support future robotic exploration of Europa and its ocean.”

So why is NASA so sure that alien life must be out there somewhere?

Do they know things that they aren’t disclosing to the rest of us?

As a society, we are constantly being conditioned to the idea that “alien life” must exist.  This is one of the major themes in our movies, our television shows and our video games.

And now the scientific community has fully embraced this idea.

Could it be possible that the stage is being set for “the great deception” that authors such as L.A. Marzulli are constantly warning us about?

If someday a big announcement is made that “we are not alone” in the universe, humanity will already have been heavily conditioned to accept it as the truth.

Unfortunately, we live at a time when deception is running rampant, and that is why it is absolutely critical to not let someone else do your thinking for you.

Found a weird website with an embedded audio message that's pretty cryptic. What is it? I don't know, but it alludes to something happening on May 31st 2017. I'm not sure of the authenticity of this info, but in the truth community, it's always worth a share. This could really be some Illuminati stuff or possibly just a prank.

Cicada 3301 released a new song that if full of things to decode. This is just the easy one. The final segment of the song The Apocalypse Song had a section with reverse audio. I simply reversed it back, and made out what was being said. This video outlines the findings.

"Ursa Major will bite the triumphant hand which feeds it while the sloth of May decays in the garden of Europa. A lion will open the gates of hell, fighting serpents and ancient wraths as the shadow of humanity explodes into an apocalyptic spring."

STARSTRUCK : BHR NAVIGATION DEPARTMENT CONDUCTS CELESTIAL NAVIGATION TRAINING DURING COURSE ABSENCE

Story Number: NNS170317-14Release Date: 3/17/2017 11:39:00 AM

From USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) Public Affairs

170317-N-XT039-007 EAST CHINA SEA (March 17, 2017) Quartermaster Seaman Daija Stella Anderson, from Houston, determines the global position of amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) using a sextant, an instrument which measures the angle between the horizon and celestial bodies. Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is on a routine patrol, operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance warfighting readiness and posture forward as a ready-response force for any type of contingency. EAST CHINA SEA (NNS) -- Celestial navigation (CELNAV), one of the earliest forms of sea-based positioning, relies on taking angles between the horizon and a reliable celestial body like the sun, moon, or certain planets and stars.

From their inception in 1798, Navy navigators and quartermasters were taught and used CELNAV until the course was completely removed from the Navy's course curriculum in 2006; however, amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard's (LHD 6) navigation department has kept the teachings alive through on-the-job training. CELNAV was officially reinstated into the Navy's navigation training in 2015.

The Navy removed CELNAV inspection requirements for ships and eliminated CELNAV from questions on the quartermaster rating exams in the mid-1990s, said Master Chief Quartermaster James Fox, from Moyock, North Carolina, navigation department's leading chief petty officer.

"The return of CELNAV has been a long time coming," said Fox. "Our GPSs are extremely reliable, but we need to be prepared for any contingency. Imagine if our GPS was denied or spoofed; celestial navigation is a skill which could save our ship in that type of scenario."

Similarly, Ensign Kendrick Allen-Nelson, from Jacksonville, Florida, navigation department's divisional officer, said CELNAV is the "basis of navigation," which he is glad to see return to the Navy's classrooms.

"It's good that the Navy is bringing back celestial navigation," said Allen-Nelson. "If our systems were to malfunction, it enables us to continue our mission. The only thing our Sailors need to do is pull out a chart and they will be able to keep us going."

Fox has served in the Navy for more than 25 years, and is the only quartermaster aboard Bonhomme Richard to have learned CELNAV in a standard classroom setting.

"I joined the Navy back in 1990," said Fox. "Upon graduating 'A' school in 1991, I was sent to my first ship. Back in those days we used primitive GPS to navigate the sea. The equipment we had gave us our location every 8-10 hours. Between those gaps of connectivity, we used celestial navigation and dead reckoning to estimate our position until we got the next update. Modern GPS updates [the ship's] bearing every millisecond, so we know where we are at any given time. These advancements in technology are the reason celestial navigation was ultimately removed from the curriculum."

The U.S. Naval Academy's graduating class of 2017 will be the first group of Sailors to graduate with a basic knowledge of CELNAV since its removal 11 years ago.

"I'm a tad bit jealous," chuckled Allen-Nelson, as he described his thought about the 2017 graduating class. "I would have loved to learn celestial navigation. I'm excited for them; they will be well trained and will be able to keep the fleet going in a positive direction."

Although CELNAV was not taught to Bonhomme Richard's quartermasters in a conventional classroom environment, Fox explained he has passed his knowledge down the ranks through formal instruction as well as hands-on training, "because it is an extra tool in their tool bag to keep the ship combat ready."

Quartermaster Seaman Daija "Stella" Anderson, from Houston, said she "hopped on the opportunity" to learn CELNAV when she was introduced to the concept.

"Master chief was adamant about teaching us how to do it," said Anderson. "People like master chief who actually have that skill are the ones we rely on to learn. Some things aren't easy to grasp, but if you have someone like him who knows how to explain the fundamentals, it's not too difficult."

During the absence of the CELNAV course Fox has taught Sailors, enlisted and commissioned alike, the fundamentals to improve their navigational skills.

"Along with my quartermasters, I learned from Master Chief Fox," said Allen-Nelson. "It's great to see my Sailors having fun with the lessons and competing against one another. It is a skill that will definitely benefit the ship, as they enjoy doing it."

Anderson said CELNAV reminds her of a time when navigators relied on skill, rather than technology to get to their destination.

"It makes me feel like a traditional Sailor," said Anderson. "Years ago people used the stars and a sextant to get to where they needed to be, but technology has made it easier to know where we are -- almost making celestial navigation a dying tradition. I'm glad it's back."

The sextant, a tool which measures the angles between the horizon and celestial bodies, is an instrument Sailors throughout history used for navigating before GPS was implemented in the Navy.

Even with the reliability of modern technology, it would be in a quartermaster's best interest to learn all aspects of CELNAV in order to combat advancements in GPS denial technology, Fox said.

"CELNAV is a relevant and useful skill," said Fox. "Despite all modern advances, the refocusing of these skills will allow our ship's to become even more combat ready and prepared for contingencies we have not even thought of. The addition of CELNAV requirements will ensure this valuable skill will be relevant and available for future naval warfighters."

INTERVIEW : “IF THERE IS FAITH, TO STRUDY THE UNIVERSE WITH SCIENCE IS AN ACT OF PRAYER,” SAYS GUY CONSOLMAGNO

Interview with Vatican’s Jesuit Astronomer Ahead of Scientific Congress on Black Holes, Gravitational Waves and Space-Time

May 9, 2017 Sergio Mora Interviews

“At the beginning of time, God spoke to us through Creation, says the Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians. Therefore, to study the universe with science, is an act of prayer, a way of encountering God.” However, to do so, “it is necessary to encounter God first as Father, as Abba, otherwise God cannot be encountered with science.” In other words, “faith must be there first, if one wishes to see God in Creation.”

Talking with ZENIT, astronomer Guy Consolmagno explained this on the sidelines of the meeting held yesterday, May 8, 2017, in the Holy See Press Office, where the Scientific Workshop on black holes, gravitational waves and the peculiarity of space-time, which will be held in the Vatican Astronomical Observatory in Castel Gandolfo from May 9-12, was presented.

American astronomer Guy Consolmagno, who already had a brilliant scientific curriculum, entered the Society of Jesus in 1989 and took his vows in 1991. In 2015, he was appointed Director of the Specola Vaticana — the Astronomical Observatory of the Vatican. In 2000, the International Astronomic Union named an asteroid of the principal belt after him – 4597 Consolmagno –, known also as “Little Guy.”

Questioned about God and referring to how Saint Thomas said that God is not an evidence because you cannot tangibly observe Him with your senses like other things, the scientist pointed out: “God is the evidence of the existence of the universe. Because if one doesn’t believe in a God, one could think that the universe doesn’t exist, that it is altogether an imagination.”

“If one doesn’t believe in a God as in the God of Christianity, one cannot believe in the universe, which works with laws and with a system,” otherwise “it would be a universe of chaos, of the nature gods, like Jove or Jupiter,” he added, explaining that “this isn’t our idea of God. The idea is of a supernatural God who gives space for the laws of science.”

“We also believe in a good God who created the universe by His Will and not by an accident or by chance” – in a God “who said that the universe is good, and who said ‘This is good,’” he continued.

In regard to the event that will be held this week in Castel Gandolfo, Consolmagno specified: “It is a scientific congress that hopes to bring together experts in various fields, specialists in black holes.” It will gather not only the theorists of black holes, but also those that observe them and those that study them from other scientific perspectives.
The Jesuit explained that “many times there is a congress of observers, others of theorists, others of black holes, etc., but here we want to bring together different scientists together, as in a workshop.” Moreover, “as time is always lacking to make presentations and to have discussions, we want to foster the free exchange of ideas,” he concluded.
