Appel du pape François

Pour la Journée internationale de la Terre, ce 22 avril 2015, le pape François appelle les hommes à vivre leur relation avec l’environnement « dans la logique du respect et du soin ».

Le pape a en effet évoqué cette célébration au terme de l’audience générale de ce mercredi matin place Saint-Pierre : « J’exhorte tous à voir le monde avec les yeux de Dieu Créateur : la terre est le milieu de vie à protéger et le jardin à cultiver. »

Il a souhaité que « la relation des hommes avec la nature ne soit pas guidée par l’avidité, la manipulation et l’exploitation », mais « que soit conservée l’harmonie divine entre les créatures et la création dans la logique du respect et du soin, pour la mettre au service des frères, y compris des générations futures ».

Hier, le pape a publié le tweet suivant sur @Pontifex_fr : « Il faut garder la terre afin qu’elle puisse continuer d’être, comme Dieu la veut, source de vie pour la famille humaine tout entière. »

"This concern is the real major human concern of our times because while there are plenty of problems in areas we need to address, to some extent, they are all chairs on the Titanic while we cruise toward an enormous iceberg."

This is the view of Rabbi David Rosen on the consequences of climate change. The rabbi was interviewed by ZENIT on the sidelines of the summit, entitled "Protect the Earth, Dignify Humanity: The Moral Dimensions of Climate Change and Sustainable Humanity," held in the Vatican’s Casina Pio VI on Tuesday.

Sponsored by the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, SDSN and Religions for Peace, various religious, world, and industry leaders and scholars participated, including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who gave an address at the start of the summit.

Reflecting on the significance of confronting climate change, Rabbi Rosen said it’s critical, for otherwise, “We won’t have a planet to be able to hand over to our children or grandchildren.”

This gathering, he also noted, is the first, to his knowledge, to be a real encounter between scientists and people in industry, along with religious representatives and leaders, to address the common concern.

“While science has the information and has hopefully the technological means to be able to address it, it is religion that is the delivery system—because, as the Pew Institute studies show, over 85 percent of our world defines itself in religious terms.”

“It not only provides the moral authority for believers, but even non-believers look to religion for some kind of guidance in this area,” he said.

"So, the importance of collaboration cannot be overstated."

He noted this discussion is taking place at a “particularly serendipitous, or I should say providential moment” because Pope Francis is about to release his encyclical on the environment early this summer.

“And Pope Francis,” the Jewish leader highlighted, “not only has visibility as the Pope, which in itself is unique, but he has captured public imagination, certainly in the Western world, in a quite remarkable manner.”

“This means what this Pope says, especially when he takes these issues seriously like he is, has consequences far beyond his own institutional context.”

Therefore, he added, "this linkup here with other religions and other communities, together with the scientific and the industrial world, at the time when Pope Francis is taking that particular leadership offers that very significant support, and offers additional traction for that guidance.”

While noting the Vatican summit met his expectations, Rabbi Rosen hopes it will be “the beginning of what I believe to be a continued joint and communal effort.”

On the Pope’s upcoming encyclical, he said, the content is not what matters most: “The fact that the Pope is addressing the issue of climate change and saying this is the critical issue of our times and we need to take it seriously in itself will achieve more than anything else.”

Rabbi David Rosen is International Director of Interreligious Affairs of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and its Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding. The Former Chief Rabbi of Ireland and past chairman of the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations also serves on various international interreligious bodies.

In 2005, Rabbi Rosen was awarded a papal Knighthood for his contribution to Jewish-Catholic reconciliation. In 2010, he was made a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for his work promoting interfaith understanding and cooperation.

Says He Looks Forward to Pope's Upcoming Encyclical During Vatican Symposium on Climate Change

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, had a private meeting with Pope Francis this morning.

Ki-moon is in Rome to address an International Symposium on climate change that was held at the Vatican. The symposium, entitled “Protect the Earth, Dignify Humanity: The Moral Dimensions of Climate Change and Sustainable Development” was organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.

In a communique released by the Holy See Press Office, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi stated that during the meeting, the UN Secretary General expressed his gratitude to the Holy Father for accepting the invitation to address the United Nations on September 25th.

“[Ban Ki-moon] expressed his expectation for his address on that occasion and for his next encyclical, and outlined several points on the United Nations current commitment on not only environmental issues, but also on migrants and the tragic humanitarian situations in the areas of world struck by conflicts,” Fr. Lombardi wrote.

‘Good Stewards of Creation’

Following his meeting with Pope Francis, Ki-moon addressed the international symposium, telling participants that his conversation was “fruitful and wide-ranging”.

I commend His Holiness, and all faith and scientific leaders here, for raising awareness of the urgent need to promote sustainable development and address climate,” he said.

Calling climate change the “defining issue of our time”, the UN Secretary General highlighted the importance of science and religion coming together to work on addressing it.

“Science and religion are not at odds on climate change. Indeed, they are fully aligned,” he said. Together, we must clearly communicate that the science of climate change is deep, sound and not in doubt.”

Ki-moon stated that current projections place the rise in global temperature at 4-5 degrees Celsius, due to global emissions. Saying that such a rise is morally indefensible, Secretary General Ki-moon reiterated the Holy See’s stance, saying that “there is a moral imperative to act.”

Concluding his address, Ban Ki-moon said that he “looks forward to the upcoming encyclical by Pope Francis.”

Earlier this year, Fr. Lombardi stated that the Holy Father is expected to release his encyclical sometime before the summer.

Throughout his pontificate, Pope Francis has spoken of the care for the environment and creation as one of his concerns. During a meeting in January 2014 with ambassadors from around the world, the Holy Father warned that the exploitation of the environment was one of many threats to peace.

“Even if 'nature is at our disposition,' all too often we do not 'respect it or consider it a gracious gift which we must care for and set at the service of our brothers and sisters, including future generations,” he said.

EDITOR’S NOTE: If your perception of Pope Francis is of a sweet, little old man who likes to mumble prayers in Italian and kiss babies on the cheek, get that thought out of your head immediately. Pope Francis is a shrewd, savvy, highly-motivated political player who is throwing the full weight of the Vatican with it’s 1.3 billion followers behind a Marxist globalist agenda to usher in the New World Order. This pope is the game-changer who just may actually be the False Prophet mentioned in the book of Revelation. And is it any surprise that we see George Soros connected to the Pope’s push? Seriously.

A Vatican declaration authored by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (PAS) and others who attended a meeting Tuesday on global warming. The document from participants of the meeting pushes for ditching market economies to fight global warming and environmental degradation.

“Fossil fuel exploitation has also taken a huge toll on human well being,” the PAS document reads.

“Market forces alone, bereft of ethical values, cannot solve the intertwined crises of poverty, exclusion, and the environment,” the document adds. “The move to a sustainable world will not be cost-free for all: the options we face are not ‘win-win.’”

Pope Francis and George Soros…are you kidding me? Nope.

“Present economic systems have been accompanied by the development of unacceptable gaps between the rich and the poor,” the PAS writes, “the latter still lacking access to most of the scientific and technical benefits that we have developed in the industrial world.”

Like former Pope Benedict, Francis is expected to condemn fossil fuels and push for more “just” economic reforms.

We should be prepared to accept a reallocation of the benefits and burdens that accompany humanity’s activities both within nations and between nations,” according to the PAS document.

Pope Francis made headlines this week by promising to weigh in on the global warming debate, meeting with United Nations officials and scientists to discuss the issue and possible solutions to stemming global temperature rises and predicted ecological catastrophe.

Pope Francis and the George Soros connection

Judging by what participants of the Vatican’s climate meeting wrote, the Papacy could come out hard against market economies that utilize fossil fuels for development. But given the authors of the document, it shouldn’t be surprising.

One of the authors is economist Jeffrey Sachs who now heads up Columbia University’s Earth Institute. Sachs has been heavily backed by liberal philanthropist George Soros. Years ago, Soros donated $50 million to a project co-run by Sach’s nonprofit the Millennium Promise.

Lima, Peru—UPF-Peru marked Earth Day 2015 with speakers offering four points of view on the importance of this international day of support for environmental protection.

On April 22, Ambassadors for Peace together with members of the Gran Fraternidad Universal () gathered with their friends and guests at the UPF headquarters. The main meeting room was overflowing with guests soon after the start, and the four speakers spoke with great conviction and passion on the importance of this day.

The meeting was inaugurated by Gen. Hector Jhon Caro, the vice president of UPF-Peru, who said that humankind should use wisely the resources that God has given us and commit to caring for the environment. = The god Lucifer

The next speaker, UPF-South America Regional Director Mr. Dong Mo Shin, was introduced by Mr. Jaime Fernandez, coordinator general of UPF-Peru, who read a short passage from the words of UPF Founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon on this topic. Mr. Shin reminded his audience that the earth is a blessing from God and that humankind has a big responsibility to take care of it well.

The main speaker, the biologist Mr. Sergio Utchitel, is the continental leader of the international organization Universal Great Brotherhood, which was founded by Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrièrein 1948. Its motto is: “The peace of the individual will be the peace of the world."

Mr. Utchitel spoke about the laws and principles of the universe and said that humankind needs to live in harmony with nature and respect it. He emphasized that we are in a different era of consciousness in this century and we must respect the environment in which we live.

Peruvian Member of Congress Dr. Yonhy Lescano gave the concluding remarks, saying that in his native tongue (Quechua, the language of the Andean mountain people) the earth is known as Pachamama (mother earth)—it gives us life, and it feeds us and gives us everything we need. Even today religious leaders in the mountains guide their members in rituals and ceremonies offering thanks to the earth.

Following the speeches the assembly gathered to sign a “Letter to the Earth,” part of an initiative of one Ambassador for Peace who is connected with the Earth Charter Initiative.

Former UN Secretary General and globalist pirate Kofi Annan has crawled out from under his rock to join the UN sales team in peddling their “surrender and bow in worship to Earth theology. The UN cockroach has a surprise twist for us, though. Part of his “smart” and “sustainable” climatocracy includes the prospect of switching to a bug diet. While Kofi and his fellow Africans might view a hissing Madagascar cockroach in his mouth as a rare treat, most Americans have watched enough Fear Factor for that idea to leave a bad taste in our mouths.

In an interview with the Guardian, Annan is prepping us all for the upcoming UN climate summit, attempting to weaken the resolve of the thinkers of the world and to bully us into mindless acceptance of their naked power and money grab. The truth is that if the planet is warming or cooling it would be a natural event that we had no part in and couldn’t do anything to alter even if we wanted to. We’re not in control of the Earth, we’re simply along for the ride. Kofi and company plan to take us for a ride as well.

The Guardian is a mouthpiece for the climate change alarmists and it was no accident that they were chosen as the vehicle for spreading the propaganda, with an extortionist-friendly approach. Annan was asked, “What’s your greatest fear for the future of our planet?”

Of course, Annan is no climatologist, but he is a communist, which for the United Nations is even better. After all, the science is not important, the narrative is. Annan has a background not unlike the usurper in the White House, having been educated by the Marxists at the Ford Foundation.

Now he even has his own foundation, every global pirate should have at least one. The Kofi Annan Foundation, was started in 2007. Its stated mission is to “promote better global governance and strengthen the capacities of people and countries to achieve a fairer, more peaceful [and less free] world.” Obedience and control equate with peace, and communism is their standard of fairness.

Annan is also chairman of “The Elders,” a global governance front group that was founded by his now deceased fellow Marxist agitator Nelson Mandela. One of its main goals is also the advancement of climate communism.

This globalist tool and Materialist has done quite well for himself in the deal he has made with the devil as his spokesman and operative for world enslavement. His alarmist message included the usual hysteria, that if we don’t immediately pretend that something that isn’t happening is an emergency it will be too late to reverse what isn’t taking place. All we have to give up is our eroding standard of living, our prosperity, our self-determination, our freedom and our sovereignty to a group of wannabe tyrannical dictators. What’s the big deal?

His claims included the fear-inspiring terms of “tipping point” and “irreversible” and the message that our selfishness in wanting to prosper as our parents did is somehow going to doom future generations who would also, themselves, like to have that opportunity to a life of liberty and happiness, free of tyranny.

It is ironic argument they make, pressing us to doom ourselves and our descendents to a life under hopeless tyranny as a supposed protection of their futures.

Annan said he seeks a “universal and binding climate agreement” to come out of this year’s Paris summit, one which will “ensure that the world’s richer countries support the aspirations of developing countries to follow a sustainable development path.”

He continued, noting his communist cabal, “the Elders,” as having “repeatedly stressed, a tax on carbon emissions can make an important contribution to the fight against global warming.” He also makes a pitch for world governments, meaning the “evil developed nations” such as ours, to commit to “mobilize $100 billion a year by 2020 to help vulnerable countries adapt to climate change impacts and pursue green growth.”

That’s about as close to a world communist redistribution as one can get. Americans need to listen to what this guy is saying. He’s got a big green hole that’s the size of the Earth that he wants to throw our money into, what doesn’t stick to his hands along the way. He’s also carrying a big green stick and a green whip for use as motivators of the selfish developed nations. They need to be given the power of law by Hussein Obama before his tyranny ends and that means at this upcoming summit.

The combination medicine man and vacuum cleaner salesman from Ghana also wants us to eat bugs instead of meat. He told the interviewer,

“The global livestock industry is indeed a major threat to the climate as it represents 14.5% of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.” Once again he’s relied upon his own organization to supply the “facts” for their political agenda.

Annan said, “We cannot continue the way we are producing and consuming meat. Obviously, this should not go as far as governments telling people what to eat. However, keeping meat consumption to levels recommended by health authorities would lower emissions and reduce heart disease, cancer, and other diseases. And of course there are alternative sources of protein. For example, raising insects as an animal protein source. Insects have a very good conversion rate from feed to meat. They make up part of the diet of two billion people and are commonly eaten in many parts of the world. Eating insects is good for the environment and balanced diets.”

Of course he would never tell us that we have to eat bugs, not until he gets control of our ability to raise livestock, that is. Once he can price beef, pork and chicken out of range of the average, formerly middle class family, a plate of meal worms will in fact become our meal.

Annan took one parting shot at the “evil producers” of the world, saying, “It is important that developed and developing countries cut emissions. However, fairness demands that richer countries and those with the highest emissions take the lead. They must provide adequate financial resources and technologies to poorer countries and help them to cut emissions and adapt to climate change. While the climate risks are so severe, it is easy to lose sight of the opportunities. The 2015 Africa Progress Panel Report will argue that the climate change imperative is an opportunity for Africa’s energy-poor countries to leapfrog straight to clean energy, avoiding decades of inefficient spending on polluting energy sources.”

With America sending Hussein Obama to the Paris Summit and with Pope Francis in tow, is there any doubt that they intend to commit us to a huge Marxist global wealth redistribution mandate? There is no doubt whatsoever. The only thing to be determined is whether we the people will stand up for ourselves and our children. Why would Americans, who are superior to this globalist tool, even listen to this evil, subhuman trash, let alone follow his dictates?

Bugs are for birds and lizards to eat. Americans are higher up the food chain, and we should fight to stay there. If Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Hussein Obama like bug-burgers, nobody’s stopping them. Of course, they’re just dictating to us what we’ll eat and how we’ll live. They are exempt, they’re elite, they’re still eating steak.

Anne Hidalgo, le maire de Paris, a lancé mardi « l’acte deux de la reconquête des voies sur berge », se disant favorable à une fermeture à la circulation automobile totale, ou tout du moins partielle, des voies de la rive droite de la Seine à la mi-2016. Réduire le nombre de voitures dans la capitale ? Le serpent de… Seine a, semble-t-il, encore de beaux jours devant lui !

Le Conseil de Paris devrait donc adopter lors de sa prochaine séance plénière (les 26 et 27 mai) une délibération à cet effet. « Pour Paris Plages 2016, les voies sur berge seront rendues à la population », assure le maire de Paris.

Paris Plages, c’est bien gentil, mais prendre ce gadget socialiste comme argument, c’est pour le moins stupide. C’est du moins ce que pensent beaucoup de Parisiens, lorsqu’on évoque le sujet. Hormis, bien sûr, les éternels gogos et bobos. A moins que ce ne soit l’inverse.

Deux scénarios sont, pour l’heure, envisagés. Ah non ! proposés à la concertation. De qui ? C’est un mystère. Enfin, ce sont cinq réunions publiques, dont « une réunion publique de concertation métropolitaine ». Joli !

Réduire la circulation à Paris

Bref… Le premier consiste à fermer le tronçon central de la voie Georges-Pompidou, sur une longueur de 1,5 kilomètre entre Châtelet et le Pont de Sully. Une seule file serait, dans ce cas, maintenue dans les tunnels.

Le deuxième scénario consiste à fermer totalement la voie Georges-Pompidou, soit entre le tunnel des Tuileries et le tunnel Henri IV.

Quoi qu’il en soit, plusieurs études de circulation devraient être disponibles « à l’échéance du début de la concertation ». « L’échéance du début », c’est tellement clair, que le journaliste de l’AFP la situe en juin… 2011 !

Enfin, il note tout de même que les voies sur berge sont « un des axes majeurs permettant la traversée de Paris d’ouest en est ».

Par quoi remplacera-t-on cet axe majeur ? That is the question, comme dirait un célèbre auteur d’outre-Manche. Les Parisiens comprendront immédiatement. Ceux qui ne connaissent que peu la capitale peuvent prendre un plan. Quoi qu’il en soit, si l’on supprime définitivement les voies sur berge, on se demande où passeront les voitures qui, certains jours, ont déjà, malgré donc les voies sur berge, du mal à circuler.

Santé, décroissance et écologie ? Cette bonne blague…

Peu importe ! Anne Hidalgo affirme sa volonté de « diminuer de façon très importante (…) la circulation automobile ». Y a-t-il une raison ? Oh ! oui : « C’est un enjeu écologique, (…) c’est un enjeu de santé publique. Mais je ne connais que peu de Parisiens à qui l’on ferait gober que, en compliquant davantage la circulation parisienne, on diminuera la pollution !

Vatican symposium lutte contre rechauffement climatique controle population avortement

Mardi matin, le secrétaire général de l’ONU, Ban Ki-moon, était au Vatican pour participer au symposium organisé sur le thème de la dimension morale du changement climatique et du développement durable, par l’Académie pontificale des Sciences et le Conseil pontifical Justice et Paix. A cette occasion, plusieurs tenants du contrôle de la population et de l’avortement légal au nom de la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique ont pris la parole. Des organisations de défense de la famille et du respect de la vie s’en sont vivement plaintes.

Ban Ki-moon a exprimé au Souverain Pontife sa « gratitude pour avoir accepté de s’adresser à l’Assemblée générale des Nations unies le 25 septembre prochain ». Il s’est également dit impatient de pouvoir lire « sa prochaine encyclique » sur l’écologie, dont la publication est attendue fin juin. Lors de son intervention devant la foule d’experts réunis au Vatican, le secrétaire général de l’ONU a déclaré que « la religion et la science sont unies pour répondre au besoin d’action sur le climat » : c’est dans la ligne des Eglises protestantes qui qualifient le non-respect de mesures contre le « réchauffement » de « péché », ou lancent des appels au « jeûne pour la Planète ».

L’ONU et son bras armé pour le climat, le GIEC, sont en train de réussir à obliger le monde entier à croire au dogme le plus important du moment : le changement climatique est réel – et mieux encore, Dieu est désormais d’accord pour faire de la lutte contre le réchauffement une obligation morale.

Le pape François ne s’est pas exprimé à l’occasion de ce symposium. C’est le cardinal Turkson, président du Conseil pontifical Justice et Paix, qui s’en est chargé, dans un discours peu scientifique mais calqué sur le langage onusien ; Ban Ki-moon a d’ailleurs salué son intervention avec enthousiasme.

En définitive, l’événement semblait être organisé par l’ONU bien plus que par le Vatican. = C'est la même chose. Les 2 sont une seule et même entité.

Les défenseurs acharnés d’une lutte contre le changement climatique, dont l’existence est pourtant contestée par de nombreux scientifiques, ont de quoi se réjouir : ils viennent en quelque sorte de planter leur drapeau sur les toits du Vatican.

Aucune place n’a été faite aux experts qui affirment que cette lutte ne sert qu’à appauvrir les pays développés et à promouvoir une culture de mort, sans la moindre justification scientifique.

Des membres de l’association Voice of the Family, rassemblés pour une conférence de presse à quelques mètres du Vatican, à Rome, se sont d’ailleurs inquiétés de la présence de deux ardents défenseurs de l’avortement parmi les intervenants de l’événement organisé par le Vatican. Ils ont mis en garde contre le lobby pro-avortement et favorable au contrôle des naissances, qui se servait de cette rencontre vaticane pour faire avancer son agenda.

« Nous exprimons notre vive inquiétude au sujet de la présence de Ban Ki-moon, secrétaire général de l’ONU, et du professeur Jeffrey Sachs, directeur de l’Earth Institute lors de l’atelier de travail organisé au Vatican sous le titre : “Protéger la Terre, rendre l’humanité digne ” », ont-ils déclaré dans un communiqué : « Ban Ki Moon et le professeur Jeffrey Sachs sont des défenseurs connus de l’avortement et opèrent aux plus hauts niveaux des Nations unies. »

Le Vatican a affirmé que le but de cette rencontre était de « construire un consensus autour du fait que les valeurs du développement durable sont compatibles avec celles des principales traditions religieuses, notamment en ce qui concerne la protection des plus faibles ».

Contrôle de la population et avortement au service de la lutte pour l’environnement

Les mouvements pro-vie et pro-famille qui militent auprès de l’ONU contestent cet optimisme. Ils ont constaté que les questions environnementales cachent une menace directe sur les plus faibles, à savoir les enfants à naître, les handicapés et les personnes âgées, aussi bien que de graves violations des droits parentaux, rappelle le communiqué de Voice of the Family.

Ces défenseurs de la famille et de la vie se sont dits « troublés » de voir que la politique environnementale du Vatican corresponde exactement à celui de l’ONU, qui contient de vives attaques contre la famille et la vie.

Entre deux synodes sur la famille et à la veille de la publication de l’encyclique du pape sur l’écologie, le choix du moment de l’organisation de ce symposium laisse rêveur. Et même inquiet.

Ensuring a life with dignity

2015 is the year when countries will shape and adopt a new development agenda that will build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The Millennium Development Goals were established in the year 2000 and include eight anti-poverty targets to be accomplished by 2015. Since then, enormous progress has been made towards achieving the MDGs:

Global poverty continues to decline
More children than ever are attending primary school
Child deaths have dropped dramatically
Access to safe drinking water has been greatly expanded
Targeted investments in fighting malaria, AIDS and tuberculosis have saved millions

The MDGs are making a real difference in people’s lives, and this progress can be expanded in most of the world’s countries with strong leadership and accountability

What’s next?

The Millennium Development Goals show that targets work. They have helped end poverty for some, but not all.

The United Nations is now in the process of defining Sustainable Development Goals as part a new sustainable development agenda that must finish the job and leave no one behind. This agenda, to be launched at the Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015, is currently being discussed at the UN General Assembly, where Member States and civil society are making contributions to the agenda.

The process of arriving at the post 2015 development agenda is Member State-led with broad participation from Major Groups and other civil society stakeholders. There have been numerous inputs to the agenda, notably a set of Sustainable Development Goals proposed by an open working group of the General Assembly, the report of an intergovernmental committee of experts on sustainable development financing, General Assembly dialogues on technology facilitation and many others.

In December, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon released his Synthesis Report, which summarizes these inputs and presents the vision for the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. Drawing from the experience of two decades of development practice and from the inputs gathered through an open and inclusive process, the report The Road to Dignity by 2030 charts a road map to achieve dignity in the next 15 years. Mr. Ban formally presented his report on 8 January to Member States.

In an interview, Mr. Ban’s Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning Amina J. Mohammed said that one of the main takeaways of the report is

“the hope and the opportunity that we have ahead of us […] This is a generation that can do what we need to do to achieve many of the challenges that we see ahead of us. So if there is anything that we are taking away from this report it is that by 2030 we can end poverty, we can transform lives and we can find ways to protect the planet while doing that.”

The United Nations has also played a facilitating role in the global conversation on the post-2015 development agenda and supported broad consultations such as the MyWorld survey. It also has the responsibility of supporting Member States by providing evidence-based inputs, analytical thinking and field experience.
The 17 proposed Sustainable Development Goals

1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere

3. Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages

9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation

10. Reduce inequality within and among countries

11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (taking note of agreements made by the UNFCCC forum)

14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification and halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss

16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development

In architectural renderings, Gujarat International Financial Tec-City resembles a thicket of glassy blue skyscrapers soaring above the Sabarmati River in Gandhinagar, capital of the western Indian state of Gujarat. Its “signature towers” include the Diamond, a 410-metre spire resembling an icy stalagmite, and the 362m Gateway Towers, a bendy, sinuous version of Rem Koolhaas’s CCTV headquarters in Beijing.

By 2021, the creators of Gift City, as it is commonly known, promise to surround these towers with world-class infrastructure which will provide residents with round-the-clock power and water, a “district-cooling system” that sluices chilled water through buildings, and an automatic garbage disposal system sending excrement hurtling through sewage pipes at 90kph – “faster than most Indian trains”, as the journalist Manu Joseph dryly observed.

The beating heart – or rather, robot brain – of Gift City is its “Command and Control Centre”, which keeps traffic moving smoothly and monitors every building through a network of CCTVs. In a country where more than 300 million people live without electricity, and twice as many don’t have access to toilets, Gift City’s towers sound like hypertrophic castles in the sky. But they are an essential part of the Indian government’s urban vision, one that it wants to see replicated a hundred times across the country. Recently, the Indian cabinet green-lit a £10 billion scheme that will be divided equally between building 100 smart cities, and rejuvenating another 500 cities and towns over the next five years.

Yet many experts and planners fear that such “insta-cities”, if they are made, will prove dystopic and inequitable. Some even hint that smart cities may turn into social apartheid cities, governed by powerful corporate entities that could override local laws and governments to “keep out” the poor.

In a monograph for a conference on smart cities in Mumbai in January, the economist and consultant Laveesh Bhandari described smart cities as “special enclaves” that would use prohibitive prices and harsh policing to prevent “millions of poor Indians” from “enjoying the privileges of such great infrastructure”. “This is the natural way of things,” he noted, “for if we do not keep them out, they will override our ability to maintain such infrastructure.”

Bhandari’s bald statements sparked social-media pandemonium, and the economist is now at pains to assert he is far from uncritical of such plans. “I am describing the unfeasibility and undesirability of a thoughtless smart-city vision,” he says. “When you invest so much without thinking about services and low-cost housing and governance, then you will end up creating enclaves that keep out the poor.”

In their present form, Bhandari adds, smart cities are essentially rechristened Special Economic Zones (SEZs); neo-liberal business-friendly zones exempt from taxes, duties and stringent labour laws. They are also subject to what urban scholars say is a form of “privatised governance”, due to a constitutional amendment that renders local governments powerless. All of which, according to Bhandari, makes them inherently and unreservedly exclusionary. “The current template for smart cities only mandates infrastructure creation. What we need is democracy and rule of law, not governance by fiat that holds in SEZs and smart cities created in China.”

Last July, Narendra Modi’s newly elected government allocated 70.6 billion rupees (£762m) to its “100 Smart Cities” plan. This year’s allocation shrank to 1.4bn rupees, yet smart cities remain a key justification for a controversial land-acquisition ordinance the government is aiming to enact, which does away with mandatory consent and social safeguards for those whose lands are forcibly acquired. Over the past few months, smart city-themed conferences have been taking place every week in Delhi and Mumbai, culminating in the urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu’s announcement that the scheme would be “rolled out” imminently.

Yet no one is quite sure of what these cities might look like, or who they’re for. Naidu, with not a little wistfulness, said that smart cities “would have clean water, assured power supply, efficient public transport and would not be polluted or congested”. A concept note from his ministry, last revised in December, explains that they will “have smart (intelligent) physical, social, institutional and economic infrastructure”, guaranteeing their residents employment opportunities and “a very high quality of life, comparable with any developed European city”.

This repeated emphasis on high-end infrastructure and superlative quality of life hints at a discomfiting answer to the second question: who the intended inhabitants of smart cities are likely to be.

The current template might have given us Palava City. This self-described smart city across 3,000 acres of Mumbai’s northeastern exurbs is being built by a city-based developer best known for treating skyscraper-erecting as a competitive sport. As its promotional video announces in a smug baritone, Palava City was inspired by the futuristic vision that brought Singapore, Dubai “and even Mumbai” into being.

What this translates into is “essential public infrastructure” such as 24x7 electricity, immaculate wide roads, public transport, malls, multiplexes and luxury housing, including “Mumbai’s first and only golf-course-equipped residential township”. To make sure that no one trespasses on its immaculate privatopia, Palava plans to issue its residents with “smart identity cards”, and will watch over them through a system of “smart surveillance”.

The emphasis on surveillance underlines the stratified, elitist nature of smart cities, according to the academic and author Pramod Nayar. “Smart cities will be heavily policed spaces,” he says, “where only eligible people – economically productive consumers (shoppers) and producers (employees) – will be allowed freedom of walking and travel, while ambient and ubiquitous surveillance will be tracked so as to anticipate the ‘anti-socials’.”

As such, Nayar adds, smart cities will be “more fortresses than places of heterogeneous humanity, because they are meant only for specific classes of people”. One class to be served, the other to be surveilled and contained.

“The smart city paradigm comes from mid-scale European cities, and they’re meant to make existing infrastructure work in a more integrated way, whether it’s waste, habitation or transport connectivity,” says Gautam Bhan, a researcher with the Indian Institute for Human Settlements in Delhi. “But Indian cities struggle with the absence of networks. Just 16% of Indian cities have underground sewage drainage systems. No technology can make the system work better if basic services don’t exist.”

Set against this context, Gift City, which models itself after financial hubs Canary Wharf in London and Paris’s La Defense, starts to resemble the Emerald City, a glittering spectacle at the end of a shiny highway. In India such cities – geared towards high-end services – seem unlikely to provide many meaningful livelihood opportunities in the rural hinterlands where they come up.

“Having islands of well-serviced smart cities amidst a vast sea of poorly-serviced and impoverished villages leads to what urban scholars have called the juxtaposition of the citadel and ghetto,” says Sai Balakrishnan, an urban scholar at Rutgers, who studies land conflicts and urbanisation in India. “If the government does succeed in building these premium 100 smart cities, but does nothing to alleviate poverty and poor services in the surrounding areas, it could well lead to a politically volatile situation. These visible forms of spatial inequalities engender social mistrust and even violence.”

Nowhere is this combination of political volatility and spatial inequality more striking than in the giant expressway projects snaking across the country’s hinterland since 2006. These six-to-eight lane highways, intended to thread together luxury townships and special economic zones, often come up on fertile farmland that is forcibly acquired under the pretext of fulfilling a “public purpose”. In May 2011, one such project just outside Delhi – involving an expressway, private sports-themed city, and the country’s first Formula 1 racetrack – led to months-long protests among farmers from 10 villages. The rally descended into violence when villagers clashed with armed police, leading to the deaths of two farmers and two policemen.

The truth about smart cities: ‘In the end, they will destroy democracy'

Not all manifestations of disquiet end in gunshots and death, however. Balakrishnan recounts an incident that took place on the outskirts of Bangalore, where villages are rapidly being replaced with IT parks, gated communities and wealthy villas. A friend returned to her “visibly opulent” bungalow one evening to find a young man lounging on her porch, drinking a cold beer from her fridge. When she took out her phone to call the police, he brandished a small knife and motioned for her to sit down. She did, upon which he finished his beer, thanked her politely and left.

“This incident makes palpable the sense of resentment and alienation among those excluded from partaking in India’s new urban wealth,” Balakrishnan says. “The young man wasn’t out to harm anyone, but he felt justified, entitled almost, to break into an affluent home and to help himself to a few hours of luxury.”

Every new smart city, she suggests, signals yet another “temporary secession, each of them setting in place a new social order that will not be easy to reverse, and that takes urban planning dangerously away from the public domain”. A hundred smart cities could spawn a thousand shadow cities, simmering with resentment and rage.

Le charbon est la source d’énergie qui émet le plus de gaz à effet de serre et déstabilise fortement le climat. En Allemagne, l’un des pays européens pourtant les plus avancés dans les énergies renouvelables, le combustible fossile fournit toujours près de la moitié de l’électricité. De nouvelles mines doivent être creusées et des villages entiers risquent d’être déplacés et détruits. Des paysages sont dévastés. Et des dizaines de millions de tonnes de CO2 seront émises dans l’atmosphère pendant de longues années. Sans oublier les particules fines. Reportage dans le bassin minier de Rhénanie.

Dans les rues désertes de son ancien village devenu fantôme, Klaus Mertens marche l’air désolé. L’homme de 70 ans montre ici l’ancienne devanture d’une boulangerie, là, les locaux de la banque : « Il y avait ici la salle des fêtes. Là, une auberge. Derrière, une boutique de journaux et de fleurs. On avait beaucoup de magasins pour un petit village comme ça. On pouvait faire toutes ses courses ici. » Le village d’Immerath, à une quarantaine de kilomètres de Düsseldorf, dans l’ouest de l’Allemagne, comptait plus d’un millier d’habitants. Aujourd’hui, il est vide. Une partie des habitations est démolie, des arbres abattus. Les maisons qui sont encore debout ont pour beaucoup leurs vitres brisées. « Nous avons de gros problèmes de sécurité. Il y a des cambriolages », déplore le chirurgien retraité en s’apercevant que la balançoire de son ancien jardin a disparu depuis sa dernière visite. Le village a-t-il été victime d’une catastrophe industrielle ? Oui et non : il a dû laisser la place au charbon.

Il ne reste à Immerath qu’une poignée de résidents. Eux aussi vont bientôt quitter les lieux, dès que le groupe énergétique allemand RWE leur aura racheté leurs terrains et leurs biens. S’ils refusent, ils seront de toute façon expropriés et indemnisés à moindre frais. « On essaie d’éviter ça. Jusqu’ici, ce n’est pas arrivé », précise Thomas Balzhäuser, chargé de la planification à la communauté de communes. À partir de 2017, c’est une large mine de charbon à ciel ouvert qui s’étendra en lieu et place du village.

Douze villages à raser pour extraire du charbon

Immerath fait partie des douze villages en cours de déplacement et de démolition dans le bassin minier rhénan. Plus de 6000 habitants sont concernés [1]. L’entreprise RWE exploite ici du lignite, du « charbon brun ». Elle extrait environ 100 millions de tonnes par an sur trois mines à ciel ouvert, Hambach, Inden et Garzweiler. Celles-ci s’étendent déjà sur 9000 hectares, soit deux fois la surface de la ville de Lyon. Le combustible vient alimenter les centrales thermiques à charbon de RWE.

L’exploitation du lignite a commencé dès le XVIIIe siècle dans la région. Elle aurait pu s’arrêter avec l’entrée dans le XXIe siècle et l’essor des énergies renouvelables. Mais dans les années 1990, RWE a décidé, et obtenu des autorités, d’étendre ces mines pour continuer à en extraire du combustible jusqu’en… 2045. Pour le faire, il faut tout raser sur la zone convoitée : villages, champs, forêts, exploitations agricoles. Les recours juridiques de la communauté de communes, les plaintes d’un habitant d’Immerath et de l’association environnementale Bund (branche allemande des Amis de la Terre) devant la cour constitutionnelle allemande, n’ont rien changé [2].

Les mines seront bel et bien étendues. Et les habitants déplacés, soit dans d’autres communes, soit vers des villages reconstruits en neuf un peu plus loin. Le village d’Immertah a ainsi son double à une dizaine de kilomètres de l’ancien. Dans le « Nouveau Immerath », les noms de rues ont été repris. Mais le cadre de vie n’est plus le même. « Nous voulions reconstruire un véritable village, mais selon moi, c’est plutôt un lotissement », regrette Klaus Mertens, qui a accompagné la construction de la nouvelle commune au sein d’un conseil consultatif d’habitants mis en place pour la période du déplacement.

Pour l’instant, la commune ressemble effectivement plus à une bourgade suburbaine tout juste sortie de terre qu’à l’ancien village centenaire qu’elle doit remplacer. Ses pavillons s’organisent autour de quelques rues au milieu des champs. Des grues s’élèvent de toutes parts. De nombreuses parcelles attendent encore preneur.

Seulement un peu plus de la moitié des habitants de l’ancien village ont choisi de déménager dans la nouvelle commune. « Les plus âgés sont partis en maison de retraite ou chez leurs enfants. D’autres ont préféré acheter une maison ancienne ailleurs plutôt que de faire construire, rapporte Klaus Mertens. Et certains sont toujours en négociation. Comme Hans-Josef Portz, agriculteur à Immerath, et l’un des derniers habitants encore présents dans le village ancien : « Jusqu’à maintenant, je n’ai reçu aucune offre valable de RWE. On nous a proposé des fermes, mais sans terrain. Personne ne veut plus vendre de terrain. »

« Aucune autre énergie ne cause autant d’émissions de CO2 »

Les villages de Rhénanie risquent de ne pas être les derniers sur la liste des communes scarifiées au charbon. L’Allemagne compte onze mines de lignite en activité, et trois mines de houille, mais celles-ci fermeront en 2018, date à laquelle les subventions à l’exploitation de la houille cesseront. Avec plus de 178 millions de tonnes de lignite [3] extraite en 2014, le pays est l’un des plus gros producteurs de ce type de charbon au monde.

Sous parfait contrôle des Nations Unies qui se présente comme des sauveurs. Ce programme communiste est sur le point de fondre en Europe, en Amérique et en Israël, pour adapter les nouvelles normes internationales sur tous les continents. Les pays africains ont servi d'expérimentation pour fignoler leur plan de domination. Le Moyen-Orient est depuis quelques années sous attaques constantes et les camps de réfugiés et les camps de concentration ont poussé comme des champignons à travers le monde, sans compter le nombre de morts que toutes ses guerres et instabilités, créées de toutes pièces, ont pu apporter comme misère et destruction.

Cette année de la Lumière et du chaos climatique amènera un changement radical dans nos habitudes de vie. Un nouveau monde virtuel prendra place avec toutes les séductions pour égarer, s'il était possible, le peuple de Dieu.

Dans cette nouvelle dimension, tout nous sera imposé de manière draconienne par nos tyrans dirigeants, qui n'hésiteront pas à exterminer tous ceux qui se trouveront sur leur chemin et qui ne voudront pas se soumettre à cet agenda international de paganisme se cachant derrière le grand mensonge du changement climatique.

Du temps d'Hitler, certains SS disaient à ceux qui criaient à Dieu : ton Dieu, il est mort et bang! Moi je vous dis que Dieu n'est pas mort, mais que pour un temps, il laissera les humains entre les mains de ceux en qui ils ont cru. Leurs faux-dieux ne le seront d'aucun secours, mais les dirigeants religieux et les organismes humanitaires seront plus que jamais présents afin de tromper les masses et ainsi pouvoir les garder sous la coupe du grand Satan.

Pour nous, croyants au Christ ressuscité, nous voyons très bien la guerre qui prend place contre la Sainteté de Dieu et contre Son peuple. Nous voyons bien le jeu qui se joue et les accusations qui se font de plus en plus agressives.

La guerre est maintenant déclarée contre nous, car nous, nous avons cette sagesse, connaissant les commandements de Dieu, qui nous amène vers la connaissance des vrais valeurs de Dieu, que nous nous appliquons à vivre chaque jour. Pour cela le grand Satan et sa horde de démons vont nous faire la vie dure. Les ténèbres ne peuvent supporter la lumière. Ils ne peuvent supporter de voir le bien, la sainteté, la liberté et la justice être des priorités dans la vie des gens. Ils ne peuvent supporter le regard des gens heureux, prospères et travaillant à faire de ce monde un monde meilleur. Non, ils préfèrent nous voir dans des camps de concentration, des camps de réfugiés et/ou dans des villes prisons où tout est parfaitement contrôlé et où l'humain n'est devenu qu'un esclave docile à la merci de ses nouveaux maîtres.

Eux, ils sont des ténèbres, et ne travaillent que pour détruire la perfection de tout ce que notre grand Dieu a créé et donné au monde entier. Il n'y a plus de place pour l'homme juste en ce monde. Il nous faudra traverser cette tempête qui arrive sur le monde avec force et courage, tout en sachant que si nous persévérons jusqu'à la fin, le royaume de notre Seigneur et Roi reviendra bientôt pour reprendre ses droits, et que nous pourrons alors participer, avec notre nouveau corps immortel, à la reconstruction de ce nouveau monde. La Vérité et la Justice reprendront alors leurs droits et un air de bonheur s'installera au milieu de nous tous.

Entendez-vous les tambours de guerre avec à la tête Lucifer/la Femme Ecarlate, et ses hordes de démons qui bientôt arriveront pour conquérir ce monde? L'idôlatrie se cachant derrière tout ce mouvement environnemental est une abomination et une désobéissance au 2e commandement de Dieu. Le Vatican ayant enlevé ce 2e commandement a pu, au cours des siècles amener le culte idôlatre à la Vierge Marie et à beaucoup d'autres idoles. Et malheureusement, quand nous voyons toutes ses foules courir derrière le Pape et toutes ses statues faites de main d'homme, cela causera malheureusement leur perte éternelle, pour avoir mis leur confiance en des fables. Alice au pays des merveilles (la Porte des Etoiles de CERN et le programme du Pape François, en septembre prochain) va aller encore plus loin dans la séduction finale, et beaucoup succomberont au charme de ses êtres démoniaques.

Lors du Sommet du Millénaire à New York en septembre 2000, le rassemblement historique le plus important de dirigeants, de chefs d'Etat et de gouvernements du monde entier a adopté la Déclaration du Millénaire des Nations Unies. Par cette déclaration, leurs pays s'engageaient envers un nouveau partenariat mondial pour réduire la pauvreté extrême et fixer également une série d'objectifs, tous avec une échéance fixée à l'année 2015, connus désormais sous le nom d'Objectifs du Millénaire pour le développement (OMD).

Ces objectifs consistaient à éradiquer la pauvreté extrême et la faim, à parvenir à l'éducation primaire universelle, à promouvoir l'égalité entre les sexes et à permettre aux femmes de s'assumer, à réduire la mortalité infantile, à améliorer la santé maternelle, à combattre le VIH/SIDA, le paludisme et d'autres maladies, à veiller à un développement durable et à développer un partenariat mondial pour le développement.

Le HCR surveille de quelle manière les réfugiés et les autres personnes relevant de sa compétence sont inclus dans ce processus et quels sont les progrès réalisés pour atteindre les OMD. L'agence des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés est également membre du groupe inter-organisations d'experts sur les indicateurs des OMD qui produit un rapport annuel sur les progrès réalisés dans la perspective des Objectifs du Millénaire pour le développement.

Top Vatican adviser Jeffrey Sachs says that when Pope Francis visits the United States in September, he will directly challenge the “American idea” of God-given rights embodied in the Declaration of Independence.

Sachs, a special advisor to the United Nations and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, is a media superstar who can always be counted on to pontificate endlessly on such topics as income inequality and global health. This time, writing in a Catholic publication, he may have gone off his rocker, revealing the real global game plan.

The United States, Sachs writes in the Jesuit publication, America, is “a society in thrall” to the idea of unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But the “urgent core of Francis’ message” will be to challenge this “American idea” by “proclaiming that the path to happiness lies not solely or mainly through the defense of rights but through the exercise of virtues, most notably justice and charity.”

In these extraordinary comments, which constitute a frontal assault on the American idea of freedom and national sovereignty, Sachs has made it clear that he hopes to enlist the Vatican in a global campaign to increase the power of global or foreign-dominated organizations and movements.

Sachs takes aim at the phrase, which comes from America’s founding document, the United States Declaration of Independence, that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

These rights sound good, Sachs writes, but they’re not enough to guarantee the outcome the global elites have devised for us. Global government, he suggests, must make us live our lives according to international standards of development.

In the United States,” Sachs writes, “we learn that the route to happiness lies in the rights of the individual. By throwing off the yoke of King George III, by unleashing the individual pursuit of happiness, early Americans believed they would achieve that happiness. Most important, they believed that they would find happiness as individuals, each endowed by the creator with individual rights.”

While he says there is some “grandeur in this idea,” such rights “are only part of the story, only one facet of our humanity.”

The Sachs view is that global organizations such as the U.N. must dictate the course of nations and individual rights must be sacrificed for the greater good. One aspect of this unfolding plan, as outlined in the Sachs book, The End of Poverty, involves extracting billions of dollars from the American people through global taxes.

“We will need, in the end, to put real resources in support of our hopes,” he wrote. “A global tax on carbon-emitting fossil fuels might be the way to begin. Even a very small tax, less than that which is needed to correct humanity’s climate-deforming overuse of fossil fuels, would finance a greatly enhanced supply of global public goods.” Sachs has estimated the price tag for the U.S. at $845 billion.

In preparation for this direct assault on our rights, the American nation-state, and our founding document, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon told a Catholic Caritas International conference in Rome on May 12 that climate change is “the defining challenge of our time,” and that the solution lies in recognizing that “humankind is part of nature, not separate or above.”

The pope’s expected encyclical on climate change is supposed to help mobilize the governments of the world in this crusade.

But a prestigious group of scholars, churchmen, scientists, economists, and policy experts has issued a detailed rebuttal, entitled, “An Open Letter to Pope Francis on Climate Change,” pointing out that the Bible tells man to have dominion over the earth.

“Good climate policy must recognize human exceptionalism, the God-given call for human persons to ‘have dominion’ in the natural world (Genesis 1:28), and the need to protect the poor from harm, including actions that hinder their ascent out of poverty,” the letter to Pope Francis states.

Released by a group called the Cornwall Alliance, the letter urges the Vatican to consider the evidence that climate change is largely natural, that the human contribution is comparatively small and not dangerous, and that attempting to mitigate the human contribution by reducing CO2 emissions “would cause more harm than good, especially to the world’s poor.”

The Heartland Institute held a news conference on April 27 at the Hotel Columbus in Rome to warn the Vatican against embracing the globalist agenda of the climate change movement. The group is hosting the 10th International Conference on Climate Change in Washington, D.C., on June 11-12.

However, it appears as if the Vatican has been captured by the globalist forces associated with Sachs and the United Nations. = the Vatican has not been captured by the globalist forces, he is the globalist forces who runs the show.

Voice of the Family, a group representing pro-life and pro-family Catholic organizations from around the world, has taken issue not only with the Vatican’s involvement with Sachs, but with Ban Ki Moon, describing the two as “noted advocates of abortion who operate at the highest levels of the United Nations.”Sachs has been described as “arguably the world’s foremost proponent of population control,” including abortion.

Voice of the Family charges that environmental issues such as climate change have become “an umbrella to cover a wide spectrum of attacks on human life and the family.”

Although Sachs likes to claim he was an adviser to Pope John Paul II, the noted anti-communist and pro-life pontiff, Sachs simply served as a member of a group of economists invited to confer with the Pontifical Council on Justice and Peace in advance of the release of a papal document.' = Pope Jean Paul II was a communist and a pro-death pontiff.

In fact, Pope John Paul II had worked closely with the Reagan administration in opposition to communism and the global population control movement. He once complained that a U.N. conference on population issues was designed to “destroy the family” and was the “snare of the devil.” = Sure, under the Reagon administration, they sign the Vatican Concordat with Rome. He was just a good agent of this communist Pope.

Pope Francis, however, seems to have embraced the very movements opposed by John Paul II. = No, he just continues to push the global agenda who is under the Jesuit/Pope control, in the unity of the World religions.

Sachs, who has emerged as a very influential Vatican adviser, recently tweeted that he was “thrilled” to be at the Vatican “discussing moral dimensions of climate change and sustainable development.” The occasion was a Vatican workshop on global warming on April 28, 2015, sponsored by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences of the Roman Catholic Church. Sachs was a featured speaker.

The plan going forward involves the launching of what are called “Sustainable Development Goals,” as envisioned by a Sustainable Development Solutions Network run by none other than Jeffrey Sachs.

The Network has proposed draft Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which contain provisions that are radically antagonistic to the right to life from conception to natural death, to the rights and dignity of the family and to the rights of parents as the primary educators of their children,” states the group Voice of the Family.

In July, a Financing for Development conference will be held, in order to develop various global tax proposals, followed by a conference in Paris in December to complete a new climate change agreement.

Before that December conference, however, Sachs says the pope will call on the world at the United Nations to join the crusade for a New World Order.

Sachs says, “Pope Francis will come to the United States and the United Nations in New York on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, and at the moment when the world’s 193 governments are resolved to take a step in solidarity toward a better world. On Sept. 25, Pope Francis will speak to the world leaders—most likely the largest number of assembled heads of state and government in history—as these leaders deliberate to adopt new Sustainable Development Goals for the coming generation. These goals will be a new worldwide commitment to build a world that aims to harmonize the pursuit of economic prosperity with the commitments to social inclusion and environmental sustainability.”

Rather than emphasize the absolute need for safeguarding individual rights in the face of government overreach and power, Sachs writes that the Gospel teachings of humility, love, and justice, “like the teachings of Aristotle, Buddha and Confucius,” can take us on a “path to happiness through compassion” and “become our guideposts back to safety.”

Writing elsewhere in the new issue of America, Christiana Z. Peppard, an assistant professor of theology, science, and ethics at Fordham University, writes about the “planetary pope,” saying, “What is really at stake in the collective response to the pope’s encyclical is not, ultimately, whether our treasured notions of theology, science, reality or development can accommodate moral imperatives. The real question is whether we are brave enough and willing to try.” = They won't ask us if we are willing to try. This new Sustainable Development Goals will be impose by force in all countries and to all inhabitants.

The plan is quite simple: world government through global taxes, with a religious face to bring it about.

During President Barack Obama’s recent visit to Georgetown University, his message to students was quite simple — that progressives like himself must mold how America thinks and make the media report things the way they want.

Obama was specifically targeting Fox News with his contempt, generally speaking aoubt other conservative new media, as well.

This proclamation was eerily reminiscent of a certain communist leader in North Korea … a point made by a nationally syndicated conservative columnist.

“How Kim Jong-un of him,” Townhall Columnist Matt Barber commented about Obama’s declared war on the conservative media. “In sum: Goal 1) Control thought by, Goal 2) Controlling the media.”

Socialism repackaged

Barber argues that Obama’s ideas are repackaged directly from the most notorious socialist leader of the 20thcentury.

“This is an idea older than — and as well preserved as — Vladimir Lenin himself,” Barber asserts. “How Dear Leader intends to reconcile his scheme to ‘change how the media reports on these issues’ with the First Amendment’s Free Press Clause, namely, ‘Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom … of the press,’ is abundantly clear.”

Obama’s earlier attempt to filter American media through the White House — which was blocked by the FCC — and his more recent stab at controlling the Internet are argued to be topics of major concern.

“Our emperor-in-chief will force feed his once-free subjects, yet another unconstitutional executive decree — a Net Neutrality sandwich with a side of Fairness Doctrine,” Barber insisted.

Barber then went on to describe the world of double meanings he says are forever emanating from the Left, nothing how they have gotten in the habit of redefining terms that used to have straightforward meanings that everybody understood, including “marriage,” “equality” and other terms that are politically charged today.

“Other ‘progressive’ doublespeak includes words like ‘invest’ (meaning socialist redistribution of wealth), ‘tolerance’ (meaning embrace immorality or face total ruin), ‘diversity’ (meaning Christians and conservatives need not apply), ‘hate’ (meaning truth) or ‘The Affordable Care Act’ (meaning unaffordable, unsustainable and utterly inferior socialized medicine),” Barber pointed out. “Even so, it’s during those rare moments of candor that our cultural Marxist friends’ rhetoric actually aligns with their intended actions. In other words, every so often, and usually by accident, they tell the truth.”

Passing the torch?

Hoping to reoccupy the White House for another eight-year stint come 2017 — this time as president, rather than first lady — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also made her position clear when it comes to shaping America’s mindset on social and moral issues. She let her LGBT activist roots show when she insisted last month that the government must force the religious convictions of Christians to support abortion.

“‘Far too many women are still denied critical access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth,” Clinton argued, according to LifeNews. “All the laws we’ve passed don’t count for much if they’re not enforced.”

Roe v. Wadeis not enough for the progressive presidential hopeful, who wants Christian tax dollars to pay for abortions and calls for biblical doctrine to be rewritten when it comes to killing preborn children. In other words, under a second Clinton administration, Christian values will not be tolerated.

“Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper,” Clinton proclaimed. “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”

Outlawing the Bible?

Leftist media outlets reflect Clinton’s rejection of biblical morality and her endorsement of the LGBT agenda.

“Gold told me that church leaders must be made ‘to take homosexuality off the sin list,’”New York TimesColumnist and homosexual practitioner Frank Bruni expressed in his column last month titled “Bigotry: The Bible and the Lessons of Indiana.” “His commandment is worthy — and warranted.”

Barber attests that the new progressive mindset endorsing sexual libertinism essentially ushers in the “anything goes” attitude toward sexuality … a destructive path about which the Bible warns.

“Of course, if homosexual behavior, something denounced as both ‘vile affections’ and ‘an abomination’ throughout both the Old and New Testaments, is no longer sexual sin, then there can be no sexual sin whatsoever,” Barber explained. “To coerce, through the power of the police state, faithful Christians to abandon the millennia-old biblical sexual ethic and embrace the sin of Sodom would likewise require that Christians sign-off on fornication, adultery, incest and bestiality. Such is the unnatural nature of government-mandated moral relativism.”

And the Leftist media are attempting to synonymize Scripture with hate speech, which they argue is unconstitutional and not protected under the freedom of speech.

“Hate speech is excluded from protection,” CNN anchor Chris Cuomo tweeted.

But even if biblical teachings were ultimately classified as “hate speech,” the radical Left doesn’t have a leg to stand on in their argument to ban Christian expression under the U.S. Constitution.

“But there is no hate speech exception to the First Amendment,” concluded UCLA Law Professor Eugene Volohk, while responding to the issue in a Washington Post op-ed. “Hateful ideas (whatever exactly that might mean) are just as protected under the First Amendment as other ideas.”

Forty Ambassadors for Peace from Universal Peace Federation-Korea took part in a seminar at the United Nations on May 13, 2015 in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

Moderated by Mr. John Paul Hong, UPF vice president, the seminar was opened by Dr. Tageldin Hamad, UPF secretary general, who spoke about the work of its founders, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, and their emphasis on creating peace in families, nations and around the world. The founders’ call for a global day to honor parents bore fruit in the passing of a UN Resolution by the General Assembly in 2013 establishing a “Global Day of Parents.” (The Global Day of Parents, June 1 http://www.upf.org/events/icalrepeat.detail/2015/06/01/38/-/un-global-day-o… )

Dr. Thomas Walsh, UPF president, talked about the history of wars and the great role the United Nations has played in reducing or averting the possibility of another large-scale war, as occurred during World Wars I and II. He spoke about Dr. and Mrs. Moon’s initiatives for peace including a proposal for an interreligious council at the UN, programs for strengthening the family, and forming peace zones in conflict areas. = Total control of the family

H.E. Mr. Denis Antoine, ambassador of Grenada to the United Nations, shared that 2015 is a historical transition period at the United Nations, in which the Millennium Development Goals will be replaced by Sustainable Development Goals in order to bring about a brighter future for humanity.

Minister Yu Sam Nam, former Minister of Ocean and Fisheries of South Korea, talked about the importance of the United Nations especially in regard to a peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula, building a Peace Park in the DMZ, and opening a 5th UN office in the Republic of Korea. Minister Yu led the delegation of Korean Ambassadors for Peace on a tour of the United Nations after the seminar.

When Pope Francis releases his much-anticipated teaching document on the environment and climate change in the coming weeks, a network of Roman Catholics will be ready. These environmental advocates – who work with bishops, religious orders, Catholic universities and lay movements – have been preparing for months to help maximize the effect of the statement, hoping for a transformative impact in the fight against global warming.

“This is such a powerful moment,” said Patrick Carolan, executive director of Franciscan Action Network, a Washington-based advocacy group formed by Franciscan religious orders. “We’re asking ourselves, `What would be the best way for us to support the faith community in getting this out and using it as a call to action?'”

Francis is issuing the encyclical by the end of June with an eye toward the end-of-year U.N. climate change conference in Paris. While previous popes have made strong moral and theological arguments in favor of environmental protection, Francis will be the first to address global warming in such a high-level teaching document.

The pope, who will address the U.N. General Assembly Sept. 25 when he visits the U.S., has said he wants the encyclical to be released in time to be read and absorbed before the Paris talks. Advocates are pressing for a binding, comprehensive agreement among nations to curb rising global temperatures, which scientists say are largely driven by carbon emissions.

“People are really putting a lot of weight on this,” said Nancy Tuchman, director of the Institute of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago. “I think the real hope is that he says it like it is and tells us there has to be a call to action and it has to be immediate.”

The institute, which has been working to unite 28 U.S. Jesuit colleges and universities as a common voice on climate change, plans to collect papers from students, faculty and staff with their reflections on the document and how they can be “one of its champions,” Tuchman said. A school colloquium on the papers is planned for Sept. 9.

Carolan was among about 40 Catholic leaders who gathered in Rome this month for a strategy meeting organized by the Global Catholic Climate Movement, a network he co-founded which includes organizations representing religious orders, church aid agencies, Catholic social justice advocates and others. The movement started a petition that urges political leaders to take action to curb global warming and plans a prayer vigil in Washington the night before Francis’ Sept. 24 address to Congress, where he is likely to touch on environmental protection.

His audience at the Capitol will include skeptics on climate change, and like-minded groups are preparing a response to the encyclical.

The Heartland Institute, a conservative Chicago-based think-tank that sent a team to Rome last month to warn the pope against the U.N.’s climate change agenda, says it is building relationships with Catholic leaders and planning to distribute reports on sustainable development and challenges to climate science to a Catholic audience. = All the WCC member churches https://www.oikoumene.org/en/member-churches + muslim communties and other pagan religions who are not on the list to blind peoples of all their satanic associations with the darkness.

Jim Lakely, a Heartland spokesman, said since the Rome event, the institute has heard from Catholic groups, bloggers and others “who share our concern that the pope is being misadvised by the United Nations on this complicated scientific issue.”

At the same time, however, other Catholics worldwide are mobilizing to echo the pope’s words among the faithful.

Catholic Earthcare Australia, the ecology agency of the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, plans an event on the encyclical at the Australian Parliament and will publish a book on the encyclical for use in parishes.

In the Philippines, the Archdiocese of Manila’s decade-old ecology ministry is asking bishops to encourage all parishes to ring their church bells when the encyclical is released, among other efforts to highlight the pope’s statement, ministry director Lou Arsenio said. Each September, the Manila ecology ministry holds a month of liturgies and church activities on environmental protection called a “Season of Creation.”

“The big issue here is that environmental issues are not just about science but about ethics and moral values,” said Pablo Canziani, an atmospheric physicist who works with the Argentine bishops’ conference.

Canziani, who worked with then-Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires before he became Pope Francis, recently led a two-day environmental seminar organized for Argentine diocesan priests. Canziani said he and others also hope to incorporate prayers related to the encyclical in the many upcoming Argentine pilgrimages to shrines dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

In the U.S., Dan Misleh, director of the Catholic Climate Covenant, an education and advocacy network that works with the U.S. bishops, is preparing model sermons on the expected themes of the encyclical.

Over the last 15 years or so, Catholic and other faith traditions have been increasingly taking up environmental protection, or what they call creation care, as a moral issue, emphasizing the impact not only on nature but also on poor people who struggle for access to clean water and farmable land and are often the most vulnerable in natural disasters.

However, theologians and secular environmental activists say this stunningly popular pope, who has captured the world’s attention, can bring into focus the human toll from climate change in a way few other leaders can.

“The social justice aspect, and the way climate change is going to affect the poor and underprivileged and less privileged – that’s not the first thing people think about when they think about climate change,” said Lou Leonard, a World Wildlife Fund vice president who specializes in climate change issues. “For those who see this primarily as an issue of polar bears or other impact on species – which is all really important – this is an opportunity to say this is as much a human issue as anything else.”

The church, given its reach and structure, also provides an unparalleled network for amplifying calls to reduce global warming.

Bishops’ conferences in many countries, including in the U.S., have social justice programs that focus on the environment. Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami, head of the U.S. bishops’ domestic justice and human development committee, speaks frequently about Catholic teaching on preserving creation and the impact of climate change on the poor.

Global warming has also emerged as an issue for Caritas International, a confederation of Catholic charitable groups who play a major role in development and disaster relief in more than 160 countries. Caritas leaders worldwide said in a survey released this month that climate change was a top contributor to food insecurity.

Major environmental organizations are also abuzz about the encyclical and have been contacting Catholic groups for guidance. In webinars for them, Carolan has been explaining what an encyclical is. Misleh has cautioned the groups that the pope will be making a theological statement and speaking “as a Catholic, not a member of the Sierra Club.”

Remarks by His Excellency Archbishop Silvano M. Tomasi, c.s., Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Representative of the Holy See to the United Nations and Specialized Agencies in Geneva at the Technical Briefing on “Climate and Health” 68th World Health Assembly, Geneva, Switzerland.

Mme. Chairperson,

It is a great honour to address this distinguished panel and audience on a topic of such urgent importance, not only to the technical and scientific community but to all people now living on our planet and, most especially, to the future generations who will follow in our footsteps.

The moral imperative to respect and protect nature is not a new topic for faith traditions. The Jewish and Christian Scriptures are replete with such exhortations, and most of the major religious traditions offer similar commandments. Man is not the owner of creation but its steward.  In more recent times, the leadership of the Catholic Church has publicly and forcefully expressed concern about the damage to nature being caused by a privileged few, while the health and overall wellbeing of the vast majority of humans is being threatened through no fault of their own. Pope Benedict XVI, expressed such grave concern on this issue that he was popularly labelled as the “green Pope”. Pope Francis continued this tradition and has encouraged a more profound reflection on this global concern. I am sure you are well aware already of the ongoing preparation of a special teaching document on climate justice, about which United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, said: “I very much look forward to the upcoming encyclical by Pope Francis. It will convey to the world that protecting our environment is an urgent moral imperative and a sacred duty for all people of faith and people of conscience. It is critically important that people and their leaders hear your strong moral voice in the coming months.”

In this regard, on 28 April 2015, the Holy See exercised its convening capacity, to gather Religious Leaders, Political Leaders, Business Leaders, Scientists and Development Practitioners, at the Vatican, in a workshop on the theme: “Protect the Earth, Dignify Humanity: The Moral Dimensions of Climate Change and Sustainable Humanity.” This historic event was organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and Religions for Peace.

These religious leaders and technical experts left no further room for denial under the mistaken guise of so-called religious belief when they declared that human-induced climate change is a scientific reality.  They acknowledged the “very vital role” played by religions through their affirmation of “the inherent dignity of every individual linked to the common good of all humanity” as well as “the beauty, wonder, and inherent goodness of the natural world.” They proclaimed as “our moral duty to respect rather than ravage the garden that is our home.” They noted the particular vulnerability experienced by poor and excluded people who are menaced by “dire threats from climate disruptions, including the increased frequency of droughts, extreme storms, heat waves, and rising sea levels.”

The workshop participants expressed confidence that the world possesses the “technological grasp, financial means, and know-how to mitigate climate change while also ending extreme poverty, through the application of sustainable development solutions including the adoption of low-carbon energy systems supported by information and communications technologies.” They begged the world to “take note that the climate summit in Paris later this year (COP21) may be the last effective opportunity to negotiate arrangements that keep human- 2 induced warming below 2-degrees C, and aim to stay well below 2-degrees C for safety, yet the current trajectory may well reach a devastating 4-degrees C or higher.”

Ladies and gentlemen, I cannot end this brief intervention without emphasizing the special responsibility that must be assumed by those living in high-income countries to join in solidarity with the global human family as we attempt to repair the damage already done to our environment, prevent further degradation, and preserve the integral link between health and development.  The citizens of wealthier countries cannot ignore but concretely express their solidarity  with the poor, both at home and overseas. They have a special obligation to help their fellow men in developing countries to cope with climate change by mitigating its effects and by assisting with adaptation. There much evidence that shows how climate change can be devastating for health, especially among the world's poorest and most vulnerable people. Healthcare is foundational to integral human development and human flourishing. Allow me to conclude with these words of Pope Francis , whose insight is shared by Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus and most religions: “Creation is not a property, which we can rule over at will; or, even less, is the property of only a few: Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude.”

President Obama said Thursday the link between more extreme weather and climate change is undeniable, and that the world’s best scientists have made a conclusive connection.

Rising sea levels are another consequence of climate change and can make extreme weather even worse, he said at the National Hurricane Center following a tour.

“The best climate scientists in the world are telling us that extreme weather events like hurricanes are likely to become more powerful. When you combine stronger storms with rising seas, that’s a recipe for more devastating floods,” he said.

Obama’s remarks came during a visit to the center, whose meteorologists are predicting a “below-normal” Atlantic Ocean hurricane season, with three to six storms likely.

The president cited 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, which caused billions of dollars of damage in the New York City area, as an example.

“Climate change didn’t cause Hurricane Sandy, but it might have made it stronger,” he said. “The fact that the sea level in New York Harbor is about a foot higher than a century ago certainly made the storm surge worse.”

Later, Obama held an unannounced question-and-answer session on hurricanes, climate change and similar issues. He used the opportunity to promote and defend his record on climate.

On the connection between climate and security, a link he has highlighted in recent months, he said, “More severe weather events lead to displacement, scarcity, stressed populations; all increase likelihood of global conflict.”

Obama said increasing the use of renewable energy through research and development, and regulatory incentives is a “key” to moving toward clean energy, and that, while last year’s climate agreement with China is “big,” he and Chinese leaders will work with Brazil to encourage a strong plan to cut carbon there.

The president also defended his decision to allow Royal Dutch Shell to drill for oil and natural gas in the Arctic Ocean.

He said he blocked drilling in sensitive areas like Bristol Bay, but since he can’t completely prevent drilling in the Arctic, “we're setting the highest possible standards.”
