DETROIT SAILORS SUPPORT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROJECT

...SOLIDARITY

Traditional beliefs simply don't fit the UN vision for 21st Century communities. To find more universal values, Habitat leaders convened a day-long "Dialogue" on the meaning of Solidarity at the elegant Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. The official list of 21 panel members included former Jerusalem mayor Teddy Kollek, historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr, and Maurice Strong [6] who led the 1992 UN conference on environment.

"I have gathered leaders with tremendous wisdom and prestige," began Habitat Secretary-General Wally N'Dow. "They are bringing the spiritual dimension-the only ingredient that can bind societies together." He had chosen an American moderator who would add credibility to the discussion: Robert MacNeil (of MacNeil-Lehrer), "one of the spiritual lights of the media industry today."

This hand-picked "interfaith group" left little doubt that solidarity meant a universal shift to the new globalist-New Age paradigm (or world-view). "Change your whole way of thinking, because the new order of the spirit is confronting and challenging you," said Millard Fuller, President of Habitat for Humanity.

"Citizenship for the next century is learning to live together," said Federico Mayor, Director General of UNESCO. "The 21st Century city will be a city of social solidarity.... We have to redefine the words... [and write a new] social contract."
Citation:
"We should stop bemoaning the growth of cities. It’s going to happen and it’s a good thing, because cities are the vectors of social change and transformation. Let’s just make sure that social change and transformation are going in the right direction.... The media must act as part of the education process that counters individualism."[5]

The heart of lifelong education would be spiritual training. "What's needed is an interfaith center in every city of the globe," said James Morton, dean of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine, who organized the panel. "The new interfaith centers will honor the rituals of every... faith tradition: Islam, Hinduism, Jain, Christian [a cross-less version that blends with other beliefs]... and provide opportunity for sacred expressions needed to bind the people of the planet into a viable, meaningful, and sustainable solidarity."...

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (NNS) -- More than 30 Sailors assigned to Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Detroit and Littoral Combat Ship Crew 103 Pre-Commissioning Unit Detroit, participated in a Habitat for Humanity community relations project in Macomb County, Michigan, Aug. 26 as part of Detroit Navy Week.

The project included Sailors laying and securing foundation, setting steel plates for basement floor joists, painting as well as cutting and installing insulation.

"We're out here helping the Habitat for Humanity organization as much as we can," said Machinist's Mate Seaman Devon Williams, operational support unit, NOSC Detroit. "I personally have been helping set the support beams and platforms in the basement while assisting in handing out tools and other supplies."

Detroit native Rear Adm. John E. Jolliffe, deputy commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, stopped by the work site to show his appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication put forth by the Sailors.

Several NOSC Detroit Sailors expressed their personal feelings on why it's important to give back to the local community and helping those in need.

"I'm from northern Michigan myself and anytime the Navy can help the community, not only does it strengthen the relationship between the Navy and surrounding areas but I take an extra sense of pride knowing I'm helping a fellow Michigander," said Hospital Corpsman 1st Class (SW) Nathan Orr, medical department at NOSC Detroit.

"There's a lot of Sailors from Detroit and the surrounding communities and we're all doing our part to support and give back to the community while making it known the Navy wants and enjoys helping," said Builder 1st Class (SCW) Dan Burks, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 25, NOSC Detroit.

The community relations project also provided an opportunity for Sailors to come together and continue to build a lasting bond that will continue to grow in an operational environment.

"I've really enjoyed the opportunity to give back to the local community and doing my part to make a difference," said Williams. I feel a sense of pride seeing every Sailor out here today, regardless of rank, coming together to achieve a common goal."

Macomb County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing ministry that provides low-income, working families the opportunity to purchase safe, decent, affordable housing in which to raise their families. Habitat was founded in the belief that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, affordable place to live, where they may dwell in dignity and safety.

Navy Weeks focus a variety of assets, equipment and personnel on a single area for a week-long series of engagements designed to bring America's Navy closer to the people it protects.

Detroit Navy Week is the ninth of 12 Navy Weeks in 2015, and helps to increase the bond between the "Motor City" and America's Navy.

Participants in seminar on indigenous ecological spiritualties and Christian faith in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

24 August 2015

Dynamics of “Indigenous ecological spiritualties and Christian faith” were explored in detail at a World Council of Churches (WCC) seminar in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The event held from 17 to 20 August at the Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) was organized by the WCC Continuing Ecumenical Formation programme of the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, Switzerland and the Care for Creation and Climate Justice programme of the WCC together with the Nijmegen Institute of Mission Studies (NIM) and the faculty of theology of UKDW.

The event brought together thirty participants including church leaders, theologians, activists and staff of Christian organizations coming from different parts of Indonesia (Java, Bali, Papua), the Philippines and India and representatives from the host organizations.

The seminar participants addressed issues related to ecological destruction being caused by mining, monocultures, deforestation and other similar activities. They observed that such destruction has become a threat to the livelihoods of indigenous peoples and tribes.

Dr Guillermo Kerber, WCC programme executive for Care for Creation and Climate Justice, reported that case studies presented by the resource persons from Papua, North East India and Central Kalimantan provoked an elaborate discussion among participants at the event, bridging the gap between scholarly research and social and ecological activism.

Various sessions deepened the interaction between indigenous peoples’ spiritualities and Christianity. Frans Dokman, director of NIM, highlighted the mediation role theology can play between indigenous spiritualities and Christianity.

Work in groups at the event addressed topics such as indigenous peoples’ relationship to land, ancestors, role of the Trinity in creation, eco-pastoral theology, and youth and art education. At one session, Invani Lela Herliana, from Ketjilbergerak, a youth-based creative community in Yogyakarta, shared how arts and cultural intervention can be used to develop what they called “praxis spirituality”.

Dr Marina Ngursangzeli Behera, professor of ecumenical missiology at the WCC’s Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, said that the seminar was part of the WCC’s work on indigenous peoples responding to “pilgrimage of justice and peace” – a call from the WCC Busan Assembly in 2013.

These discussions, Behera said, have shown that “various indigenous spiritualties are rooted in awareness of the equilibrium of the natural environment, of one's role and responsibility to the community, along with sensitivity to the spiritual essence of the world.”

A statement outlining outcomes of the seminar for the wider public was issued at the end of the seminar. Frans Dokman said that “the seminar should be seen as part of a process that will continue to address and deepen dialogue on these topics in coming years.”

PATRIARCHE BARTHOLOMEE Ier : ASCENE CONTRE CONSUMERISME

POPE ISSUES INVITE FOR WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR CARE OF CREATION

Recently Instituted Day Will Be Celebrated In St. Peter's Basilica on Tuesday. The Second World War

Vatican City, August 26, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Deborah Castellano Lubov

Pope Francis announced that next Tuesday, Sept. 1, the World Day of Prayer for the care of creation will be celebrated in St. Peter's Square.

At the conclusion of today's General Audience, the Pontiff shared this, stating, "In communion of prayer with our Orthodox brothers and with all good persons of good will, we wish to make our contribution to the surmounting of the ecological crisis that humanity is experiencing."

"Throughout the world," Francis continued, "the various ecclesial realities have planned opportune initiatives of prayer and reflection, to render this Day an intense moment, also in view of the assumption of coherent styles of life"

The Holy Father said that on Tuesday at 5 p.m. there will be a Liturgy of the Word with bishops, priests, consecrated persons and lay faithful of the Roman Curia in St. Peter's Basilica and he invited Romans, pilgrims, and all those who would like to, to participate.

On August 10, Pope Francis instituted the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, which will be celebrated each year on September 1st, making the announcement in a letter he sent to Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, and Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity. In the letter, the Pope reaffirmed how part of our responsibility as Christians involves resolving the ecological crisis which humanity is presently experiencing. In doing so, he stressed, we must first rediscover in our own "rich spiritual patrimony" the deepest motivations for our concern for the care of creation and how Jesus lived in the world.

Recalling his encyclical on the environment 'Laudato Si', Francis stressed that the ecological crisis summons us to a "profound spiritual conversion": "Christians are called to “an ecological conversion whereby the effects of their encounter with Jesus Christ become evident in their relationship with the world around them.” (217)

"The annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation will offer individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live," he said.

The celebration of this day on the same date as the Orthodox Church, the Holy Father stated, will provide a valuable opportunity to bear witness to our growing communion with our Orthodox brothers and sisters.

CARDINAL CITES POPE : TO RECOVER HARMONY WITH CREATION, REFLECT ON LIFESTYLE

In Message to COP20 Forum on Climate Change, Cardinal Turkson Calls for Different Attitudes Toward Environment

Vatican City, August 25, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Staff Reporter

Pope Francis suggests in his encyclical on the environment Laudato si' that to recover harmony with Creation, "people ought to reflect on their lifestyles and ideals, in order to contemplate the Creator, who lives in us and in what surrounds us.” = Makes us believe that we are god.

In a message delivered Monday to the COP20 forum, organized by the Peruvian government in Lima, Aug. 24-28, Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, recalled the Holy Father's above recommendation and reaffirmed Francis' call for faithful to “assume a new ecological spirituality which favors the bond between man and environment, through an integral, ecological, community conversion,” reported Vatican Radio.

Marking the second international gathering for discussions on climate change, the five-day COP20 forum is a global initiative which gives nations the chance to present plans targeted at reducing carbon emissions. It looks toward the Paris conference on climate change taking place later this year.

Cardinal Turkson also expressed his hope that the conference would promote a “deeper ecological conversion, able to reflect itself in the different aspects of human life: in one’s lifestyle, education, in the dialogue between science, culture and faith, and in national politics and international negotiations.”

A presentation of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ opened the conference. Some 250 people, including experts, policymakers and religious leaders, attended and analyzed the long-awaited document from economic, scientific, theological and political points of view. (D.C.L.)

OBAMA : LEADERS WHO JOKE ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE ARE ‘NOT FIT TO LEAD’

AP/Markus Schreiber

by Charlie Spiering
31 Aug 2015

President Obama condemned political leaders who continue to express skepticism about global warming during a speech at the GLACIER conference in Alaska this evening.

“The science is stark, it is sharpening,” he said, asserting that climate change was happening even faster than predicted.

Obama warned of a doomsday future if climate change was unchecked, warning of a future with “submerged countries,” “abandoned cities” and political disruptions and conflicts.

“Any leader willing to take a gamble on a future like that — any so-called leader that does not take this issue seriously or treats it like a joke — they’re not fit to lead,” he said sternly.

Obama asserted that climate change was real and that it was “beyond dispute” that man was contributing to the problem.

“The time to plead ignorance is surely past. Those who want to ignore the science, they are increasingly alone,” he said. “They are on their own shrinking island.”

He also warned that climate change would damage the planet for the world’s children, calling it “not-deniable.”

“If we do nothing to prevent glaciers from melting faster, and oceans from rising faster, and forests from burning faster, and storms from going stronger, we will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair,” Obama said.

Obama visited the conference as part of a three day trip to Alaska during which he plans to hike to a glacier to inspect the melting levels.

Seoul, Korea—Keynote speakers in Plenary Session II of the 3rd World Summit addressed the international conference’s theme of “Peace and Human Development.”

In the session, which took place on August 28, 2015, in the InterContinental Grand Seoul Parnas hotel, the speakers offered reflections based on their experience in their nation and region, and indicated principles and policies and action steps that should be taken in order to transform our world, building families, communities, nations and a world of peace and mutual prosperity.

Hon. Dan Burton, House of Representatives (1983-2013), United States, said: “We all want peace and freedom, but the world is shrinking; regional threats are no longer regional—they’re global.” The former congressman said the best strategy to deal with radical extremism is to recall the legacy of the late President Ronald Reagan, whose pillar of security policy was “peace through strength.” He reminded the participants that the hostages in Iran were released minutes after President Reagan took his oath of office. “Iran knew he was a man of strength, and that’s why they were released,” he said. The radical elements operating around the world do so with impunity because they perceive their opponents as weak. Russian President Vladimir Putin sees the West as weak and irresolute, he said, and that’s why Russia continues aggressive military actions in Eastern Europe. Congressman Burton said he opposes the Iran nuclear deal because it will give the Iranians further “initiative to push their radical agenda.” Strong leadership is needed all around the world “to safeguard the freedoms that we all hold dear,” he said.

H.E. Leonid Kravchuk, president (1991-1994), Ukraine, provided background information about the nation of Ukraine, including its geography, multi-ethnicity and diverse religions. Since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, “civil harmony was retained; we started realization of our actual democratic rights and freedoms; we found a peaceful solution to the political, interfaith and interethnic discord; all these helped to avoid bloodshed in Ukraine and preserve the territorial integrity of the state for 22 years.” The former president described the conditions that have occurred in Ukraine beginning last year when Russia made incursions into its territory, thus breaking the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. In return for Ukraine giving up the world's third-largest nuclear weapons stockpile, the United States, United Kingdom, China, France and Russia agreed to protect Ukraine against threats or use of force against its territorial integrity or political independence. According to the United Nations, 6,832 persons (both military and civilians) have been killed, 17,087 persons have been injured, and more than 1.5 million people have been forced to leave their homes since the Russian invasion last year.

The conflict in eastern Ukraine is due to two reasons, President Kravchuk said: first, the separatist movement in the region, and second, Russia's direct intervention. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, which crashed in Ukraine last year, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board, was destroyed by pro-Russian insurgents using a Russian-made missile. The president said that Ukraine has “honestly and conscientiously fulfilled its obligations on nuclear disarmament, initiated to control the spread and utilization of these weapons. In return, we expect the international community to act as the guarantor of our security, as it was stated in the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, which was signed by Ukraine.” The president called for the nations and the world community to “comply with the international agreements and be accountable.” He ended on an optimistic note. “We feel that we have the support of the entire civilized world. Never before in the years of our independence have we received so much real support from Europe and the U.S. as it is now.” In conclusion, the president said, “we can build a culture of peace, because its formation is impossible without the joint efforts of all components of human society: governmental and international organizations, public and educational institutions, religious and interreligious institutions, as well as leaders in all spheres of human activity.”

Hon. Amarilis Santana, senator, Dominican Republic, briefed the participants about her country and its unique situation of sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. Although there is a common history of colonialism, the two nations maintain distinct languages, cultures and political/economic systems. The senator proudly described her country as a “democratically developing country. … Their national dance is the merengue; [it is] a leading tourist destination in the Caribbean and the land of top baseball players.” The country is a signatory to all U.N. treaties, especially those related to human rights. The Dominican Republic is facing many obstacles to social development, namely, unemployment, organized crime, political instability, unequal land distribution and, most seriously, a lack of the values that unite the family.

Senator Santana said she remains optimistic about the nation’s future, however, and reported about an initiative from the Senate that will promote social development and benefit all segments of society. “We want to break the vicious cycle of poverty. We want to build schools across the country and provide incentives to bring businesses to a Duty Free Trade Zone.” She also spoke about resolutions that would prevent and eradicate domestic violence. She serves on the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality. The senator is committed to building a culture of peace. “The family is based on love. It is the principal channel for values. … The construction of peace is our responsibility. Let us promote the values which are the basis for sharing and well-being. Let us transform ourselves,” she said.

Hon. Jose de Venecia, Jr., chair, International Conference of Asian Political Parties, Philippines, spoke about the proposal for an Interreligious Council at the United Nations, which he made to the U.N. General Assembly in 2004. “Irrespective of race, religion, culture or country,” the council will “promote together a global culture of peace and mutual understanding,” he said. The former speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives credited Dr. Sun Myung Moon as “a pioneer in these great initiatives.” The speaker said the world’s religions must play a greater role in world affairs and offered several examples, including the Sunni-Shiite issue and the emergence of ISIS-ISIL in Syria and Iraq. He called on the leaders of Islam, representing the Sunnis and Shiites, to “meet in Mecca and bring about the beginnings of reconciliation and the end of violence in the lands of Islam.” He called for “no new Cold War in the Asia-Pacific.” That region, he said, does not want to play either the “American Card” or the “China Card.” Instead, he said that the differences between the United States and China must be resolved through “diplomacy, overwhelming humility and understanding.”

He recently met with the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop Sergey of the Moscow Region Diocese, and proposed a meeting between the Russian Orthodox Church, the Vatican and Catholic, Protestant and other Christian churches in the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa to “implore their governments not to allow a revival of the Cold War and to work for a new dawn of enduring peace in the 21st century.” Regarding the Korean Peninsula, he urged the Six-Party Talks be revived. Just as the two Germanys and the two Vietnams were united, he believes the two Koreas can merge in “a unique federated system under common inclusive leadership.” The countries of East Asia and the Asia-Pacific region should be encouraged to dialogue with the world's principal religions. “This is perhaps the formula for building global and regional peace that will endure.” He supports the Universal Peace Federation and called on governments, parliaments, political parties, civil society organizations to “promote peace and reconciliation, cooperation, humility, dialogue and pluralism, urge tolerance among our nations and peoples, understand the diversity of our cultures and religious beliefs—for indeed, in the last analysis, except for diversity in the color of our skin, we all belong to one human family under God.”

Ambassador Christopher Hill, dean, Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver, United States, and former U.S. ambassador to Iraq (2009-10), Korea (2004-05), Poland (2000-04) and Macedonia (1996-99), expressed his appreciation to UPF and its activities for the promotion of peace around the world. He congratulated the organization for choosing Korea as the venue for the World Summit. “I cannot think of a more appropriate country to discuss peace than Korea, a country that has known the ravages of war and still feels the terrible consequences of unfinished business,” he said, referring to the continued state of war that officially exists. Peace is threatened all across the world, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. “Peace is not so simple,” he said. “It’s complex; it requires dialogue, the building of structures, and political compromises.” The diplomatic process is always the preferred option, but “we also need to have strength. We should not negotiate out of fear.” The ambassador defined strength not only in military terms but on “the bedrock of values,” meaning the principles that give structure and purpose to a nation. Referring to the situation with China, the ambassador said it is imperative that a “common language” and “firmness and dialogue” are used to move negotiations forward. Similarly with North Korea, “People need to know that North Korea is not just an American problem, or that only the ROK [Republic of Korea] can solve it, nor China,” he said. “That is why the Six-Party Talks is a good process.” The ambassador emphasized that in this era, global problems require global solutions.

OBAMA'S PROPHECIES OF CLIMATE DOOM IN ALASKA FALL FLAT

The new sin of hell and the same spirit of the encyclical of 'Laudato Si'

Written by  Alex Newman

Wednesday, 02 September 2015

Unless you repent of your sin of carbon emission and allow the United Nations to shackle humanity to a planetary “climate” regime, the end is near! Whole nations will be “submerged underwater,” cities will be “abandoned” and “climate refugees” will flee from global warming-induced war, famine, and pestilence. At least that was Obama's apocalyptic prophecy of climate doom delivered this week during his Alaska tour. Indeed, the whole tax-funded global-warming industry and its supporters — especially the Obama administration — are ratcheting up hysteria over alleged “climate change” like never before. And it is only going to get worse in the months ahead.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/item/18889-desperate-dash-of…
But it is not because “global warming” is getting worse. And it is certainly not because the alleged evidence of man's alleged role in global-warming is getting stronger. In fact, uncertainty is only increasing, and it has now become clear that self-styled “climate experts,” assuming they actually believe their own statements, really have no clue what they are talking about — practically every falsifiable prediction they have made over the past five decades, from global cooling to global warming to just “climate change,” has proven to be embarrassingly wrong. In fact, according to the undisputed satellite record, there has been no warming in close to two decades, contrary to every single “climate model” produced by the UN and its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Instead, the real reason for stepping up the doom-and-gloom prognostications is the upcoming UN “climate” summit scheduled for December in Paris. At the conference, Obama and his fellow warming alarmists see what may be their final chance to impose a “climate” regime on humanity — global wealth redistribution, energy rationing, carbon taxes, and much more. In the run-up to the summit, humanity can expect the climate hysteria peddled by the establishment press, government officials, UN bureaucrats, Third World regimes demanding “climate reparations,” and the entire $1 billion-per-day alarmism industry to steadily increase, regardless of what temperatures do.

In Alaska this week on a mission to hype the alleged dangers of “global warming” and humanity's puny CO2 emissions, Obama made that plainly evident, as he and his traveling posse of self-styled “journalists” offered what might amount to one of the most stunning and audacious deceptions of the president's entire tenure. “If we stopped trying to build a clean energy economy and reduce carbon pollution, if we do nothing to prevent glaciers from melting faster and oceans from rising faster, and forests from burning faster and storms from growing stronger, we will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair,” Obama prophesied at a “GLACIER Conference” in Alaska.

Of course, that is all baloney — CO2 is the gas of life, not pollution (you exhale CO2 and drink it in your soda); glaciers are not melting more quickly, and in many cases are growing; oceans are not rising, forests are not burning faster, and storms are not growing stronger. In fact, in many cases, the opposite is closer to what has been observed. The establishment press, though, was equally complicit in the fraud — and not just because they all failed to mention the summer snow and unusually cold weather forecast during Obama's visit, attributed by some to the infamous “Gore Effect.”

http://www.drroyspencer.com/2015/08/summer-snow-to-greet-obama-on-alaska-cl…
For example, an article in the Los Angeles Times by Maria La Ganga and Michael Memoli offered falsehood on top of falsehood — and it was hardly unique in that regard, as virtually every “reporter” on the trip with Obama pumped out very similar propaganda. First, the two journalists parrot Obama's claims about Exit Glacier. “This is as good of a signpost of what we're dealing with when it comes to climate change as just about anything,” Obama is quoted as saying as journalists obediently snapped photos of him standing next to signs marking where the glacier stood in previous years. “What it indicates, because of the changing patterns of winter and less snow and longer, hotter summers, is how rapidly the glacier is receding. It sends a message.”

First of all, Obama's claim was contradicted just last year by Obama “Science Czar” John Holdren, the forced abortion-touting advocate for a “planetary regime” and coercive population control. “A growing body of evidence suggests that the kind of extreme cold being experienced by much of the United States as we speak is a pattern we can expect to see with increasing frequency, as global warming continues,” he claimed in a widely ridiculed video linking record cold and snowfall to “global warming.” Holdren, of course, was previously a man-made global-cooling alarmist who warned of a new ice age by 2020.

More importantly, if La Ganga and Michael Memoli at the Times had bothered with even the most basic journalistic procedures and fact checking, they would have found that Obama's retreating glacier was actually retreating at a much faster rate between 1914 and 1917 than it is now. And it is retreating at the same rate as the average between 1894 and 1899. In fact, the glacier has been steadily retreating since 1816, when records began. All of those inconvenient truths are available right on the National Park Service's own website, which the L.A. Times and other newspapers should have consulted before parroting fact errors. (H/T Real Climate Science).
Indeed, the same is true of Alaska's other glaciers, which according to U.S. government data were retreating much more quickly in the 19th and early 20th centuries — long before (largely insignificant) human emissions of CO2 could be blamed — than they are today. According to a chart produced by Dr. Richard Keen at the University of Colorado and reprinted on the Real Climate Science website, Alaskan glacier retreat actually peaked almost 150 years ago while Abraham Lincoln was president. That is probably because of the Little Ice Age, which caused rapid glacier expansion, that ended around the year 1870. Also interesting, though not mentioned by Obama's traveling circus of journalists, is that the retreating glaciers are exposing ancient forests buried under the ice that grew during the Medieval Warm Period. Back then, global temperatures were much warmer than today — with obvious benefits for humanity.

“The supposed poster child glacier for global warming in Alaska is Mendenhall Glacier … except that it had already retreated one mile by the early 1900s, long before human greenhouse gas emissions could be blamed,” explained Dr. Roy Spencer, principal research scientist at the University of Alabama and former senior scientist for climate studies at NASA who has long warned of the dangers posed by "global-warming Nazis." “Furthermore, its retreat is uncovering large tree stumps approximately 1,000 years old, coincidentally coinciding with the (naturally-caused) Medieval Warm Period, back when the Vikings were able to farm in Greenland. Which [brings up] the question: How could it have been warm enough to grow giant trees 1,000 years ago in an area now covered in ice? We don’t know why it was so warm 1,000 years ago — climate scientists don’t like to talk about it because they can’t explain it — but for some reason they are sure that your SUV is causing current warmth.”

In fairness, the L.A. Times was hardly the only establishment media outlet to (presumably) get duped — and thereby misinform its dwindling readership — by the Obama administration's prophecies of doom. Josh Lederman with the Associated Press, for example, reported that “the 2-mile-long chock of solid ice has been retreating at a faster and faster pace in recent years — more than 800 feet since 2008, satellite tracking shows.” In the real world, the glacier retreated far more than that in less than half the time frame a century ago, as Lederman would have discovered by simply consulting the federal government's own website. Real journalists might quote Obama or other officials, but they would also point out that the statements were false to ensure the reader receives accurate information.

Other officials quoted by “journalists” who did not bother to check the accuracy of their statements included National Park “science” bureaucrat Deborah Kurtz. She claimed, falsely, that recent years had featured an “unprecedented rate of warming” across the state. In the real world, Alaska cooled by about 0.1 degrees since 1977, according to data from the Alaska Climate Research Center. Again, none of the media organs traveling with Obama bothered to fact-check the claims before printing them — evidence of either major journalistic malpractice or blatant intent to deceive.
Next the L.A. Times report claims that “the public is growing to accept that climate change is real and affecting their day-to-day lives,” followed by the caveat “White House officials argue.” Again, in the real world, the opposite has occurred. A Pew Research Center poll from last year, for example, found that just four in 10 Americans even believe the anthropogenic (man-made) global-warming theory. A Gallup survey from this year, meanwhile, reveals that Americans' global-warming concerns actually peaked about 15 years ago and have been declining ever since. Even more recently, a global survey of seven million people by a UN-affiliated outfit showed that humanity ranks global-warming dead last among the 16 issues presented.

At least the L.A. Times got one fact right: “Obama is looking to build momentum not for a vote in Congress, but on behalf of a sweeping, binding agreement to reduce emissions to be reached at a major U.N. climate summit in Paris late this year,” it reported, without noting that any “binding agreement” would have to be ratified by two thirds of the Senate, which climate realists in the Senate have already said is not going to happen. Instead, as Obama and various foreign officials have made clear, the administration is hoping to bypass the constitutionally required treaty ratification by pursuing some sort of non-binding “political agreement.” And even then, Congress could simply refuse to appropriate any funding for the gimmicks.

Aside from Obama's latest doom-mongering tour, foreign audiences have also been treated to an accelerating avalanche of blatantly dishonest global-warming propaganda. An August 29 article in the U.K. Independent, for instance, claimed, citing “experts,” that 2015 “will be the hottest year on record 'by a mile'.” “It’s going to be so far ahead of the other record year that it’s going to be beyond the error range,” boasted Phil Jones, the widely ridiculed director of the Climatic Research Unit at the center of the ClimateGate mega-scandal. Really! Beyond the margin of error this time!

http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/environment/item/21450-july-warmest-on-r…
In the real world, aside from the fact that temperature is measured in degrees and not miles, without some cataclysmic unforeseen bout of actual warming, it will not even be close to the hottest year on record, as the global satellite temperature records make clear. The Independent article mostly quotes discredited “climate scientists” without noting, as The New American has documented extensively, that those same tax-funded “scientists” have a decades-long track record of being wrong on virtually every falsifiable prediction they have made.

It is more than likely that Obama and his top officials know well that the prophecies of climate doom are based on lies, fantasy, data manipulation, debunked “models,” and cherry-picked “evidence.” Many of the reporters traveling with him probably do as well, or at least they should. In Congress and among the American people, faith in the discredited global-warming theories — widely ridiculed today as a “cult” by serious climate scientists — is dwindling quickly, to the extent that it ever existed at all.

Yet, the doom-and-gloom and threats of climate apocalypse without repentance (and taxes) to absolve humanity's carbon sins will keep getting louder and shriller — at least until the UN climate summit in Paris wraps up late this year. In the meantime, Americans should educate themselves on climate science and the Constitution to ensure that the globalist dream of a draconian UN climate regime never gets imposed on the people of the United States.

REPORT : OBAMA'S "GREEN" AGENDA THREATENS NATIONAL SECURITY

Thursday, 03 September 2015

Written by  Alex Newman

The so-called green agenda being relentlessly pursued by the Obama administration and its cronies represents a threat to U.S. military capabilities and therefore, to American national security, according to a recently released report blasting the “political fad" of so-called renewable energy. As if undermining the U.S. Armed Forces was not a serious enough threat, the document also notes that the political agenda behind Obama's “green” mania poses life-threatening health risks to American communities, results in significant economic damage to those affected, and is likely to harm the environment more than the supposed threats it is supposedly aimed at combating. As such, the agenda must be exposed and resisted, the report's authors argue.

“Most citizens assume that our leaders would never allow our national security to be undermined by political ideology — particularly after the 9-11 tragedy,” writes the report's chief author, independent physicist John Droz. “They would be wrong.” In the executive summary, Droz argues that there are two fundamental questions at play in the current situation: Should U.S. energy policies be written by lobbyists, as opposed to being based on genuine scientific assessments; and should U.S. military capability be weakened in pursuit of “unscientific political agendas.” “Most U.S. citizens would say NO to both questions,” Droz continues. “However, as this report explains, both of these are happening today in the United States.”

The report, entitled “U.S. Military vs. a Political Fad (Renewable Energy),” produced by the non-profit Alliance for Wise Energy Decisions (AWED), cites two examples of “renewable energy” schemes in particular that pose grave threats to national security. The first project is known as “Desert Wind” and involves erecting some 150 wind-turbine structures, each more than 500 feet tall, on 20,000 acres in North Carolina. A partnership between the Spanish firm Iberdrola and the U.S.-based online giant Amazon, the massive complex will be located just 14 miles from the Hampton Roads naval military base.

That installation is home to the semi-classified AN/TPS-71 ROTHR (Over The Horizon Radar) site, one of only two in the country. And according to the government's own studies, two of which are cited in the AWED report, placing the Desert Wind project any closer than 28 miles from the ROTHR will seriously impair its performance — potentially with grave implications for U.S. security. The government's studies, the report continues, focused on turbines that are not as big as those set to be used, meaning the effects are likely to be even more serious.

Just how important the facility that will be impaired is to U.S. security is also highlighted.“This state-of-the-art ROTHR facility is a key part of our homeland security, and is charged with monitoring criminal operations, terrorist threats, and menacing activity of non-friendly countries in the Gulf of Mexico and northern South America (an area covering over 2 million square miles),” the report explains. “This ROTHR equipment is also intimately involved with other critical matters of national importance like hurricane predictions, climate change monitoring, etc.”

If and when the Desert Wind project gets built, the facility's performance could be in serious jeopardy. And yet, the U.S. Navy was ordered to sign an agreement with the developer allowing the scheme last year. Incredibly, perhaps, the agreement between the Navy and Iberdrola even states that Desert Wind can only be “temporarily” shut down by a “special National Security declaration” signed by the president. “In other words, all of the other daily critical functions provided by this facility do not  meet the arbitrary level of importance determined in this one-sided anti-military agreement,” the report continues.

The second example of “green energy” schemes undermining U.S. military readiness cited in the report is the planned Pantego Wind behemoth, also set to be imposed in North Carolina. The plan calls for about 50 wind turbines, each more than 500 feet tall, spread across some 11,000 acres. There have been protests about the scheme from environmentalists — and even the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service expressed “great concern.” But the military implications are “even more problematic,” explains the AWED report, citing a number of experts, officials, and government studies on the threat.

The biggest concern surrounds Seymour Johnson Air Force Base located nearby. One of the base's chief missions is training fighter pilots to fly low-level routes to avoid radar detection. Among those expressing concerns was the commanding officer of the base, Colonel Jeannie Leavitt, who wrote a letter to the governor outlining her alarm. Among other concerns, the colonel highlighted the potential of the wind project to affect the base's mission and operational performance.

“Wind farms and the windmills that comprise them will have a significant impact on the training of F-15E aircrew,” the letter warned. “Windmill structures and rotating blades have a demonstrable negative effect on the F-15E’s main radar and its terrain following radar system,” the letter continues, adding that military officials are “troubled” about the project and the adverse effects it will have on various crucial functions of the base. “The effects are significant at both medium and low altitude flight levels.”

Apparently not satisfied with the “few assurances” provided by Democrat Governor Beverly Perdue, the commanding officer also authorized an in-depth study of the problem that revealed other major issues. Among those is the fact that the turbines will require crews to stay at higher altitudes than those required for low-altitude training. The wind turbines could also have a significant impact on low-altitude intercept training. Finally, the 500-foot tall obstacles right on the route used for thousands of low-altitude, high-speed flights every year will increase flight-safety risks — especially at night.

Radar interference, while not addressed in the study, has also been warned of in other official U.S. government reports, some of which are cited in the AWED report. Powerful testimony and comments from U.S. lawmakers and military officials warning about the dangers to military readiness and capabilities due to various “green” schemes are also included in the report. Yet the project continues marching forward.

According to the AWED report, the spot was likely chosen by the developer for some key features sought after by “green energy” entrepreneurs. Those include: Being in a state with a governmental mandate for more “renewable energy;” being in a community in financial distress; and being in a community that does not have an ordinance protecting residents from the well-documented dangers and nuisances of wind-energy facilities. “Those are major reasons why Beaufort County, NC was selected by Invenergy for the planned Pantego wind project,” the report argues.

AWED describes itself as a non-partisan, non-profit informal coalition “concerned about the future of the electrical energy sector.” Participants in the coalition — individual scientists, organizations, communities, and even businesses — do believe that there are environmental and energy issues that should be addressed. But, they argue, such technical matters should be resolved using real science rather than politicized pseudo-science, cronyism, and lobbying.

“We need to get beyond the superficial sound bites,” wrote Droz. “We need to remember that actions are more important than words. We need to do some critical thinking. The messages in this Report are quite simple: our energy policies should be based on real Science, and our national security should not be sacrificed for any political agenda.” As the report shows, though, that is exactly what is happening — all to pursue deceptively named “renewable energy” schemes that have not been shown to provide any net benefits to society.

The report also features a series of conclusions, including a call for governments at all levels to stop supporting any “alternative energy” schemes — at least until genuine scientific assessments conclude that such schemes would provide a net societal benefit. Also included in the conclusions is a recommendation for wide-ranging changes to Department of Defense policies that would, among other elements, make the safety of military personnel, mission impairment, and operational readiness sufficient reason for the DoD to kill a wind project. Wind developers rather than taxpayers should pick up all military-related mitigation costs, the report also concludes.

Finally, the report argues that both the Pantego Wind and Desert Wind projects should be quashed. The Pantego project represents a threat to the mission of the Seymour Johnson AFB and the lives of American fighter pilots being trained there. The Desert Wind scheme, meanwhile, could be a “serious national security threat,” and it should not be allowed unless and until it can be proven that it will not degrade the capabilities of the nearby ROTHR facility.

Rome, 3 septembre 2015 (ZENIT.org)

Call for papers

New and final deadline for submission of abstracts was on June 10th 2015.

NB! Participants without paper presentations are also welcome to register. Registration fee is 100 Euros for all participants, conference dinner is additional 40 euros.

THE FRAMING OF EUROPE: PEACE PERSPECTIVES ON EUROPE'S FUTURE

European political agenda today is scene of discussions on the increasing risk of sliding back to a revived Cold War, as relations between Russia and the West deteriorate over the Ukraine situation. This poses a serious challenge to peace in both Europe and the world at large. Simultaneously, there are latent threats of violence both in Europe and its environs, such as terrorism; securitization of politics; corruption; rising authoritarianism and limitation of the free flow of information; as well as more general trends of a recent worldwide surge in rearmament and the realization of how socio-economic inequalities on hamper Peace.

Thus, problems are piling up in Europe, as well as between Europe and its neighbors. In Europe, high employment rates, increasing economic and regional disparity, poverty, and social unrest are imminent issues. Fused with nationalistic, ethnic, religious and linguistic catalytic forces, they make out the potential of reinforcing threats to political-economic stability, human security and sustainable peace. On Europe’s southern and Eastern flanks, political turmoil, insurgencies, wars, social movements and big- power interventions in the post-Soviet space, the Middle East and North Africa, cause revived security dilemmas, increasing arms build-up and an increasing flow of refugees. These issues challenge the frames of Europe, as well as how Europe will be framed in the years to come.

Addressing the visible and invisible frames : How tensions in Europe and Europe’s flanks can be reduced; how rearmament can be replaced with disarmament; how the refugee problem can be solved in tandem with Europe’s economic and social crisis; how we can secure human rights and human security in the process; and how all this can be done with a view to ecological security, sustainable development and global and/or local practices of good governance, are the true research challenges in the hands of peace researchers today. The European Peace Research Association (EuPRA) invites scholars, practitioners and scholar-practitioners who are interested in these questions to its 9th biennial conference in September 2-4. 2015. This time EuPRA travels to Europe’s northwest Tromsø, right above the Arctic circle in Norway, showing its determination to cover and carry peace issues to be discussed wherever possible: north and south, east and west.

We welcome all kinds of papers and presentations concerning peace in Europe and its neighborhood. The following is a list of suggested topics:
  • Europe’s role in the world: Past, present, and future.
  • World system transformation between war and peace: Europe’s perspectives.
  • State-minority relations, cross-border issues, and “irredentist” problematic.

'CLIMATE ISSUE IS A MATTER OF JUSTICE,' SAYS POPE

Francis Prays Humanity Starts to Listen to the 'Cry of the Land'

Vatican City, September 11, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Staff Reporter

Pope Francis says the climate issue is a matter of justice. The Holy Father made this reflection today when speaking to some 300 participants in a meeting promoted by the Foundation for Sustainable Development, titled “Environmental Justice and Climate Change.” Major representatives of religion, politics, economic activity and scientific research in various sectors and international organizations were present.

Founded in 1995, the Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is an international non-profit that "envisions a world where all people have the opportunity and capacity to direct economic, social, and environmental resources toward sustainable outcomes that improve lives and communities."

In his address, Francis underscored, “We must not forget the grave social consequences of climate change.”

“It is the poorest who suffer the worst consequences. Therefore," he said, "the issue of climate change is a a matter of justice; it is also a question of solidarity, that must never be separated from justice. … Science and technology place an unprecedented power in our hands: it is our duty to humanity as a whole, and in particular the poorest and future generations, to use it for the common good.”

The Holy Father went on to ask: “Will our generation be remembered for having generously shouldered its grave responsibilities?”

We are all called upon directly, the Holy Father said, to be responsible and fraternal, and to defend our dignity as people and citizens of the world “by virtue of the role that we occupy in the family, in the world of work, the economy and research, in civil society and in institutions."

To this end, this dialogue needs to be inspired by “a vision as transparent as it is broad-ranging” and must proceed “according to an integral and above all participatory approach, including all interested parties, including those who more easily remain at the margins of institutional processes," he said.

The Holy Father exhorted those gathered to do all possible, “so that at the tables in which a solution is sought to the unique and complex socio-environmental crisis the voice of the poorest may be heard” because this too is "a duty of environmental justice."

"Faced with the emergency of climate change and looking ahead to the crucial appointments scheduled for the coming months – the approval of the Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations at the end of this month and above all the COP 21 in Paris at the beginning of December – I wish to propose that this dialogue become an authentic alliance leading to truly significant and effective global environmental agreements.”

Along the way, Francis reminded those gathered, you can count on my personal support and that of the Church, "starting with the indispensable contribution of prayer."

"From now on, I offer to the Lord our joint effort, asking His blessing so that humanity may finally know how to listen to the cry of the land – today our mother earth is among the many excluded who ask for help from Heaven – our mother and our sister, and of the poorest among us who inhabit the earth and care for her. In this way, creation will increasingly resemble the common home that the sole Father imagined for us a gift to the universal family of His creatures,” Pope Francis concluded. (D.C.L.)

BAN KI-MOON SAYS POPE FRANCIS IS MAN OF MORAL VOICE, PURPOSE

UN Secretary-General Grants Exclusive Interview to Vatican Radio Ahead of Francis' Address to UN General Assembly in New York

Vatican City, September 11, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Staff Reporter

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says Pope Francis is a man of humility and humanity, and of moral voice and purpose. In an exclusive interview with Vatican Radio in the days ahead of the Pope's Apostolic Visit to the United States and Cuba, Ban Ki-moon made this statement.

Speaking on the Holy Father's upcoming visit to the United States and Cuba, Sept 19-27, during which time Francis will address the UN General Assembly on the 25th, the UN Secretary-General said, “We are looking forward with great excitement [to] His Holiness, Pope Francis’ visit to the United Nations.”

This is the UN Secretary-General's fourth meeting with the Pope, but will be the Pope's first visit to the United Nations. In the history of Vatican - UN relations, this will be the first time in which the Pope visits the UN during a General Assembly.

"Particularly at a time in which this world is experiencing many conflicts: refugees; migration; human rights abuses; climate change," Ban Ki-Moon said, "we really need such a strong moral voice as the Pope’s; on this, the occasion, during which more than 150 heads-of-state and government of the world are gathering, therefore, you cannot expect any greater, more significant and important gathering of the world’s leaders, including the Pope."

“I’m grateful," he added, "for his compassionate leadership for peace and humanity.”

Ban Ki-moon also responded to questions on various other issues including climate change, the refugee crisis in Europe, persecution of minorities, as well as other international political and security issues.

When speaking next about the ongoing refugee crisis in the Mediterranean basin and at European borders, Ban exhorted European leaders to do more to help welcome refugees and migrants. “I commend the leadership and global solidarity the European leaders are showing, but at the same time," he added, "in view of the gravity and the scale of this crisis, I would naturally expect that European leaders should do more.”

Turning to the ongoing war in Syria and the religious and ethnic minorities, especially Christians, being persecuted in the Middle East, Ban Ki-moon responded,“There should be no such discrimination – against anybody – on the basis of any criteria of religion or ethnicity – and it is totally unacceptable to persecute, to discriminate [against] people on the basis of their beliefs – on the basis of who you love, what you believe.”

Under the international refugee convention, international humanitarian laws, and international human rights laws, he stressed that migrants and refugees should be treated humanely and responsibly, and called again on European nations to demonstrate this.

“Therefore," he said, "I am urging European leaders – again – that they should open borders and provide necessary, life-saving humanitarian assistance: we have to show the compassion to these people.” (D.C.L.)

REPORT : POSSIBLE MEETING BETWEEN POPE FRANCIS AND  VLADIMIR PUTIN AT THE UN

Pontiff Will Be Welcomed by US President and First Lady at Andrews Air Force Base

Rome, September 11, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Staff Reporter

A few weeks are left before Pope Francis’ arrival in the United States. While people are preparing feverishly, from the United States, several reports have already spread regarding the awaited ninth international trip of the Argentine Pontiff. One of these regards a possible meeting between the Holy Father and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, at the headquarters of the UN in New York, which the Holy Father will visit on September 25.

News of the possible meeting was attributed to Archbishop Bernardito Auza, the Permanent Observer of the Holy See at the United Nations in New York, who said to local radio stations: “The Pope will meet Putin, only if he is not late ...”

The country that is leading the United Nations Security Council in September is Russia. However, there is no official confirmation of such a meeting since President Putin is scheduled to address the Assembly two days later.

Pope Francis will be the fourth Pontiff to address the United Nations after Paul VI (October 4, 1965), John Paul II (October 2, 1979 and October 5, 1995), and Benedict XVI (April 18, 2008, seven years ago). Moreover, the Holy Father -- who on his arrival will be greeted by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, accompanied by his wife Ban Soon-taek -- with numerous Heads of State present will sign the “Program for Development 2015-2030.”

There also seems to be planned a private conversation with Ban Ki-moon followed by the presentation of their respective delegations, which will proceed with an exchange of gifts and the signing of the Book of Honor. A pause is also planned at the Green Wall, where the Pope will place a floral tribute in memory of UN employees fallen in mission.

Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will be on hand to greet the Holy Father when he arrives at Andrews Air Force Base. This will be only the second time that an American head of state will welcome the Pope at the military base. The first time was in 2008 when former President George W. Bush welcomed Pope Benedict XVI.

POPE'S ADDRESS TO PARTICIPANTS IN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE

"Henceforth, I offer to the Lord our common effort, asking Him to bless it so that humanity will finally listen to the cry of the earth -- today our Mother Earth is among the many excluded that cry to Heaven for help!"

Vatican City State, September 11, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Staff Reporter

Here is a ZENIT translation of Pope Francis' address today in the Vatican to some 300 participants in a meeting promoted by the Foundation for Sustainable Development, “Environmental justice and Climate Change:”

* * *

Distinguished Gentlemen and Ladies, good morning and welcome!

I thank Doctor Ronchi and Doctor Caio for having opened our meeting, and I thank all of you for having collaborated with this international meeting, dedicated to a subject whose importance and urgency cannot be exaggerated. Climate is a common good, gravely threatened today: phenomenons indicate it such as climate change, global warming and the increase of extreme meteorological events. They are topics, or objects, which attract great attention from the media and public opinion, and around which  and from which angry scientific and political debates are widespread, though not unanimous, consensus has emerged.

Why and how should we be concerned about it? We cannot forget the grave social implications of climate change: the poorest will suffer the greatest consequences! Therefore -- as the title of this meeting correctly shows --  the question of climate is a question of justice and also of solidarity, which is never separated from justice. At stake is the dignity of everyone, as people, as communities, as women and men.

Science and technology put in our hands an unprecedented power: it is our duty to use it for the common good for the whole of humanity, especially for the poorest and future generations. Will our generation succeed in “being remembered for having assumed our responsibilities with generosity”? (Encyclical Laudato Si’, 165). Perhaps among the many contradictions of our time, we have sufficient reason to nurture the hope of succeeding in this. And it is from this hope, that we must allow ourselves to be led.

In carrying out this commitment, I hope that each one of you will experience the pleasure of participating in actions that transmit life. The joy of the Gospel also dwells here.

In what way, can we exercise our responsibility, our solidarity, our dignity of persons and citizens of the world? Each one is called to respond personally, in the measure appropriate to him based on the role occupied in the family, in the work world, in the economy and in research, in civil society and in institutions.

Improbable recipes will not be drawn. No one has them! Rather, offering what happened in dialogue and accepting that one’s own contribution is put in discussion: a contribution is requested of all in view of a result that cannot be, but fruit of a common work. The great enemy here is hypocrisy. Rightly does your meeting represent an example of the practice of this dialogue, which in the encyclical Laudato Si’ I proposed as the only way to address the problems of our world and to seek truly effective solutions. It seems to me a sign of great importance, even Providential, that outstanding exponents of different “worlds” are taking part in this meeting: of religion and politics, economic activity and scientific research in many sectors, international organizations and those committed in the fight against poverty.

To bear fruit, this dialogue is in need of being inspired by a vision that is both transparent and wide, and to proceed according to an integral approach, but especially participatory, including all the parties concerned, also those that remain more easily on the margins of institutional processes.

I address to everyone a pressing invitation to make every effort, so that when seeking at the table the way to resolve the unique and complex socio-environmental crisis, the voice of the poorest may be heard, among the nations and people: this is also a duty of environmental justice.

Facing the emergency of climate change and with our sight turned to the crucial meetings that in the forthcoming months will address it -- the approval of the objectives of Sustainable Development by the United Nations at the end of this month and especially the COP 21 of Paris at the beginning of December -- I hope that this dialogue will become a genuine alliance to be brought to really significant global environmental agreements.

In this endeavor, you can count on my personal support and that of the whole Church, beginning with the indispensable help of prayer. Henceforth, I offer to the Lord our common effort, asking Him to bless it so that humanity will finally listen to the cry of the earth -- today our Mother Earth is among the many excluded that cry to Heaven for help! Our Mother Earth is an excluded one!  -- also the cry of the earth, our Mother and Sister, and of the poorest among those that inhabit her, and to look after them. In this way, Creation will come ever closer to the common house that the one Father has designed as gift for the universal family of his creatures. I ask God’s blessing for you all. Thank you.

POPE FRANCIS WARNS OF "HELLFIRE FROM ABOVE" AHEAD OF U.S. VISIT

Posted on September 8, 2015

VATICAN CITY – During a sermon at Saint Peter’s Square on Sunday, Pope Francis spoke of a “forthcoming event in which the earth will be consumed by hellfire from above” and asked Christians around the world to absolve themselves of sin in the days and weeks ahead.

In a statement released by the Vatican Tuesday morning, Pope Francis, who is scheduled to arrive in the United States on September 22nd, announced that he has been visited “on three occasions by heavenly beings” who, most recently, have warned of an “impending crisis” that could have dire consequences for life on earth.

The Pope is set to attend a meeting of the UN General Assembly on September 25th, at the United Nations building in New York where he will confer with world leaders, including President Barack Obama and Russian president Vladimir Putin, to discuss defensive options.

On Tuesday morning NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that he has made arrangements to attend the General Assembly. “I spoke with the Holy See and [UN] Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon via video conference Sunday evening,” Stoltenberg told the Associated Press. “NATO is working closely with our counterparts around the globe to explore every viable recourse available.”

Details surrounding the Vatican’s extraterrestrial visitors are sparse but a British military intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the situation, told The Guardian that “the entities were described as peaceful by nature.” However, the official said, their stance on the matter was passive in that “they maintain a policy of neutrality” in regards to interplanetary action by “other-worldly” forces.

Pope Francis is scheduled to attend a private meeting with President Obama at the White House on the morning of September 23rd. The Pope will visit three cities, including Washington, D.C., during his six-day visit to the United States. He is expected to address a number of topics including same-sex marriage and immigration.

Rome, 16 septembre 2015 (ZENIT.org) Anita Bourdin

POPE ASKS FOR PRAYERS FOR UPCOMING TRIP TO CUBA/US

Departs for Nine Day Apostolic Journey on Saturday

Rome, September 16, 2015 (ZENIT.org)
Junno Arocho Esteves

Three days before his anticipated Apostolic Visit to Cuba and the United States, Pope Francis has asked for prayers, saying that it is a “mission to which I set out with great hope.”

The Holy Father will depart for Cuba this Saturday and will then make his way to the United States for the 8th World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. He will also address a joint session of the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C., as well as the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“I greet with affection the Cuban people and those of the United States who, guided by their Pastors, have prepared themselves spiritually,” the Pope said.

“I ask everyone to accompany me with their prayer, invoking the light and strength of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary Most Holy, Patroness of Cuba as Our Lady of Charity, and Patroness of the United States of America as the Immaculate Conception.”

GLOBAL DOMINATION AND SLAVERY UNDER THE ROMAN EMPIRE

POPE'S ADDRESS TO EU ENVIRONMENT MINISTERS

The catholic church is a fraud/hoax and the Sustainable Development Goals and the COP 21 is a pure and evil communist agenda for the entire world. They now still trying to install the capstone of the tower of Babel. The church and the states working together to achieve their global agenda.

Focuses on Solidarity, Justice, Participation

Vatican City, September 16, 2015 (ZENIT.org) Staff Reporter

This morning, before the Wednesday general audience, the Pope received the environment ministers of the European Union who will soon face two important events: the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and the COP 21 in Paris. Francis remarked that their mission is increasingly important since the environment is a “collective good, a patrimony for all humanity, and the responsibility of each one of us – a responsibility that can only be transversal and which requires effective collaboration within the entire international community."

Here is a Vatican Radio translation of his address:

* * *

Ladies and gentlemen, good morning!

I cordially greet all of you Environment Ministers of the European Union whose appointment, in recent years, has become increasingly important for the care of our common home. In fact, the environment is a collective heritage of all humanity, and each of us is responsible for it. It is a responsibility that can only be shared and that requires effective collaboration within the international community.

Thank you very much for having called this meeting which gives me the opportunity to share with you, if only briefly, some thoughts also in view of  important international events in the coming months: the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals at the end of this month and the Cop 21 Summit in Paris.

I would like to focus on three principles. First of all, the principle of solidarity, a word that is sometimes forgotten and other times abused in a sterile manner. We know that those who are most vulnerable to environmental degradation are the poor; they are the ones who suffer its most serious consequences. Thus, solidarity means the implementation of effective tools that are able to fight environmental degradation and poverty at the same time. There are many positive experiences in this regard. For example the development and transfer of appropriate technologies that are able to make the best possible use of the human, natural and socio-economic resources that are most readily available at a local level, in order to ensure their long-term sustainability.

Second, the principle of justice. In the "Laudato si’" encyclical I spoke of "ecological debt", especially between North and South connected to trade imbalances with consequences in the context of ecology, as well as the disproportionate use of natural resources historically exploited  by some countries. We must honor this debt. These nations are called upon to contribute to solving this debt by setting a good example: limiting in a big way consumption of non-renewable energy; providing resources to countries in need for the promotion of policies and programmes for sustainable development; adopting appropriate systems for the management of forests, transportation, waste; seriously addressing the grave problem of food waste; favouring a circular model of economy; encouraging new attitudes and lifestyles.

Thirdly, the principle of participation, which requires the involvement of all stakeholders, even of those who often remain at the margins of decision-making. We live, in fact, in a very interesting historical time: on the one hand science and technology give us unprecedented power; on the other, a proper use of this power requires that we adopt a more integral and inclusive vision. This demands that we open the door to dialogue, a dialogue that is inspired by a vision which is rooted in that of integral ecology, the very subject of the “Laudato si’" encyclical.  This is obviously a big cultural, spiritual and educational challenge. Solidarity, justice and participation for the respect of our dignity and for respect of creation.

Dear Ministers, the Cop21 summit is fast approaching and there is still a long way to go to achieve a result that is capable of bringing together the many positive stimuli that have been offered as a contribution to this important process. I strongly encourage you to intensify your work, along with that of your colleagues, so that in Paris the desired result is achieved. On my part and on the part of Holy See there will be no lack of support for an adequate response to the cry of the Earth and to the cry of the poor. Thank you.

OBAMA CELEBRATES BISEXUALITY DAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2015, AT THE WHITE HOUSE

VIDEO : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfYSwnhwjwQ

September 23rd is International Bisexuality Day and Mr. Obama has now invited several members of the LGBT community to the Pope's reception at the White House on September 23rd. The fact that the world is celebrating "bisexuality" on the MOST HOLY DAY of the year - the Day of Atonement - shows the depth of depravity that mankind has stooped to. Mankind has rejected the authority of the Word of God and is telling God that they no longer want Him as their authority; they want total freedom from His ways and His laws. God is about to give them what they are asking for - a world without Jesus the restrainer - a world where Satan is no longer restrained and is allowed to do as he pleases.

This sin of homosexuality was one of the main reasons that God rained down fire and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. The rainbow that appeared on September 11, 2015, and ended right at the new Freedom Tower was NOT A SIGN OF HOPE for the world - it was a sign of judgment. It was the final sign to America of God's imminent judgment on the nation. The LGBT community has taken the rainbow, the sign that the Lord gave to the world as a sign of hope, and has made it their symbol of defiance against God and His laws. The message is clear. Are you ready for what is about to come? Do you now understand why the days of darkness will start immediately after this event?

The world, Mr. Obama and America as a nation have basically given God the finger by choosing the Day of Atonement as "bisexuality day" and inviting prominent members of the LGBT community to meet with the Pope in the White House on this holy day. God will not be mocked. America is about to reap what it has sown. The planets will be in the same alignment as they were just over 50 years ago, exactly when the 2nd largest earthquake ever recorded hit the earth. In the movie Hercules, released in 1997, we hear, "In 18 years precisely, the planets will align ever so nicely.

The time to act will be at hand. Release the Titans, you monstrous band. Then the once proud Zeus will finally fall and you, Hades, will rule all." This points us to 2015 and a planetary alignment as a sign to watch for. Here in the Philippines, the Attack on Titan Part 2 movie is being released right on September 23rd.

Prepare for the Day of Atonement.
