MessagePosté le: Jeu 4 Oct - 02:16 (2012)    Sujet du message: ADDRESSING UN DEBATE, MINISTERS OF SMALL ISLAND NATIONS WARN ABOUT IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE Répondre en citant

Foreign Minister Maxine Pamela Ometa McClean of Barbados addresses General Assembly. UN Photo/Jennifer S Altman1 October 2012 – Caribbean ministers at the United Nations General Assembly today called on Member States to pay attention to the devastating effects of climate change on the world’s most vulnerable populations, and urged greater international cooperation to achieve a common UN-sponsored climate agreement.

“Inaction or inadequate action is inexcusable and morally indefensible, given the level of certainty of the scientific evidence before us, and the technological and financial tools at our disposal to affect the necessary change,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, Maxine McClean, said in her remarks to the 67th Assembly’s General Debate, taking place at UN Headquarters in New York.

Noting that there was “no greater threat” to the survival, viability, and security of Barbados and other Small Island Developing States (SIDS) than the “potentially catastrophic” changes to the global climate system, Ms. McClean warned that although some progress had been made at last year’s Durban Climate Change Conference, the world remained far from finding a solution to the problem.

“Barbados welcomes the decision taken in Durban to launch negotiations on a new legally binding agreement that would take effect after 2020,” she continued.

“However, for us a post-2020 agreement is meaningless if ambitious actions are not taken now to reduce global emissions and provide finance and technology to vulnerable developing countries.” = REDUCE GLOBAL EMISSIONS = depopulation agenda

 Ambassador Dessima Williams of Grenada.

Grenada’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Dessima Williams, in her remarks to the Assembly, similarly noted the risks that Caribbean island nations faced due to climate-related events.

She urged Member States to support the UN’s impending Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar, also known as COP18, in an effort to move “steadfastly toward the finalization of a new binding climate treaty by 2015.” = Qatar = islam

“Without a legally binding climate regime to uphold environmental integrity, Caribbean and other small island states could lose the opportunity for achieving sustainability soon and some could even disappear,” Ms. Williams said. “We see the upcoming COP 18 in Doha, Qatar as an opportunity to move decisively away from this scenario.”

Foreign Minister Winston G. Lackin of Suriname.

In his statement, Suriname’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston G. Lackin, echoed this concern and recalled that the recent UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE (Rio+20), which was held in Brazil in June, concluded without an agreement on the financing of SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

“The international community cannot abandon its obligation to provide the necessary means to combat serious consequences of over-consumption, pollution, and carbon emissions, which threaten to undo our own achievements in protecting the environment and securing the well-being of our peoples,” he said.

Foreign Minister Wilfred P. Elrington of Belize.

Touching upon climate-related issues in his address to the General Debate, Belize’s Foreign Minister, Wilfred P. Elrington, added that his country fully supported all regional initiatives tackling issues of common concern such as security, economic development and climate change.

“The impact of climate change on our region has been direct and devastating, compelling us to work with our CARICOM (Caribbean Community and Common Market) partners and with the wider Alliance of Small Island States to advance OUR interests in the climate change negotiation process,” Mr. Elrington told the gathered delegates.

Mr. Elrington, however, also noted the impact the transnational trafficking of weapons was having on the region and lamented what he said was a lack of consensus over a global response to the issue.

Our region, Central America and the Caribbean, has been labelled among the most violent regions of the world, with homicide rates that have reached crisis levels,” the Foreign Minister stated.

He added, “It is therefore with deep regret that despite what appeared to be an emerging consensus and despite the underlying global urgency for a multilateral response the conclusion of an Arms Trade Treaty has so far been beyond the reach of the international community.” = disarmament

Foreign Minister Winston Dookeran of Trinidad and Tobago.

On that note, Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Dookeran, warned that every moment of delay from fully implementing the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was “a step closer to our own demise.”

Furthermore, Mr. Dookeran called on Member States to follow though on their obligations as stipulated by the Kyoto Protocol, suggesting that “this would guarantee the survival of those of us most vulnerable to climate change, climate variability, and sea level rise.”

He also weighed in on the transnational trafficking of weapons, agreeing with his Belizean counterpart that the high-incidence of gun-related crimes in the region had become “intolerable” and “an affront to efforts to resolve disputes by peaceful means.”

“We join with out CARICOM partners and others in the call for the resumption of negotiations for the Arms Trade Treaty by the first quarter of 2013,” he added.

Ambassador Vince Henderson of Dominica.

Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Vince Henderson, stressed that his island nation is committed to the foundational principle of ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY.

“The unsustainable consumption and production systems that continue to deplete the world's resources and simultaneously contribute to global warming, remains a major threat to the survival of those of us who live close to the world's oceans,” he said. “The very vulnerability of Dominica to the effects of global warming underscores our commitment to a multilateral approach aimed at combating climate change.”

Ambassador Stuart Beck of Palau.
Representing the Pacific island nation of Palau, on the other side of the world, the small nation’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Stuart Beck, told the Assembly that Palau rejected the advice – contained in the International Panel on Climate Change's Report on Managing Risks – that SIDS policy-makers might, in certain cases, consider RELOCATING POPULATIONS.

“We assure you, Mr. President, that Palau has no intention to move our people,” Ambassador Beck said. “Our islands are our home. They are essence of our very being. We will pursue every legitimate recourse available to us before we concede hope.”
The officials from the small states are among scores of world leaders and other high-level officials who presented their views and comments on issues of individual, national and international relevance at the Assembly’s General Debate, which ends later on Monday.

MessagePosté le: Jeu 22 Nov - 19:11 (2012)    Sujet du message: OBAMA GIVING $6 BILLION TO MUSLIM NATIONS FOR GREEN ENERGY Répondre en citant

Posted on November 22, 2012 by creeping

Happy Thanksgiving! Obama has been Funding $1 Billion in Infrastructure Projects…in Hamas-run Gaza – ignored by the media and tax frauds like Grover Norquist. And now with his tax the rich scheme settling in, the ummah will continue to benefit for four more years at a minimum.

Excerpts from Daniel Greenfeld’s piece Obama to Spend 6 Billion Dollars for Muslim Green Energy.

Now this U.S.-Asia Pacific Comprehensive Partnership for a Sustainable Energy Future is not supposed to be limited to just Muslims, but considering that it’s been announced with the leaders of two Muslim governments, one of them that of his favorite country, Indonesia, this looks like another expensive bout of Muslim pandering.
Recognizing that energy and the environment are among the most pressing issues confronting our region, President Obama, in partnership with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, today proposed the U.S.-Asia Pacific Comprehensive Partnership for a Sustainable Energy Future.
Bilateral and multilateral energy and environmental initiatives are flourishing in the Asia Pacific, and the United States, in partnership with Brunei and Indonesia, will help coordinate and enhance these efforts, share best practices, and leverage existing initiatives across the various forums that undertake this work.

The United States will provide up to $6 billion to support the Partnership including:
• The Export-Import Bank of the United States will launch a program to make available up to $5 billion in export credit financing to eligible countries in the region over the next four years to increase access to American technology, services and equipment for the implementation of energy infrastructure projects;
• OPIC will provide up to $1 billion in financing for sustainable power and energy infrastructure projects.

In theory we’re supposed to get that money back. In practice, we’re giving two Asian Muslim countries 6 billion dollars to buy influence with. Not only will that money be used to help terrorists by empowering Muslim states in the region, but good luck seeing any of it again because there’s actually another tier to this scam.

Obama is funneling money to Muslim countries so that they’ll buy Green Energy tech from his eco-crony capitalist donors. The shell game is that these companies are on the brink of bankruptcy and Obama is trying to use foreign aid to bail them out.

20,000 Marines are to be fired and the money is being used for Obama’s Green Energy companies and his Muslim empowerment program.

This green project will likely include lots of visitors, some permanent, from those Muslim countries to the U.S. as well.

Contact: Elizabeth Crnkovich, Population Research Institute, 540-622-2733

FRONT ROYAL, Va., Nov. 27, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Population Research Institute is proud to announce the sixth episode of its highly popular YouTube cartoon series. Called "Urbanization: Who's Afraid of the Big Bad City?" it talks about why people are crowding into cities in increasing numbers.

Over the past hundred years, half the world's population has moved country to city.

Megacities with ten million or more people have sprung up as countrysides have emptied out.

But urban overcrowding should not be mistaken for overpopulation. Heavy traffic, homelessness, and long lines are not symptoms of a global glut of people, but of people seeking the good life that cities offer.

"Urbanites often complain about overcrowding," says Steven Mosher, PRI's president. "Yet they enjoy the economic, educational and cultural benefits that come from living in the city. This video will help them understand that they can't have the perquisites of city life without the people that provide them. If you don't love your neighbors you can always move to North Dakota where you won't have any." = Better control over the slaves

"The fight against the myth of overpopulation does not have to be a bare-knuckled brawl," continues Mosher. "These videos are funny and easy to digest, the very opposite of Al Gore's dark and boring pronouncements on the 'dangers' of too many people. Our viewers end up considering the science that supports our pro-people position, often for the very first time. We say to our skeptics: watch, laugh, and learn."

The latest VIDEO, two minutes long, is available here: youtu.be/NITsRKOTFz4, or by visiting overpopulationisamyth.com. The series has, to date, garnered over 1,500,000 views in multiple languages.

MessagePosté le: Mar 4 Déc - 19:43 (2012)    Sujet du message: DOHA MEETING MUST TAKE DECISIVE ACTION TO TACKLE GROWING CRISIS OF CLIMATE CHANGE – BAN Répondre en citant

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon addresses the high-level segment of the 18th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Photo: UNFCCC

4 December 2012 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today urged countries to act decisively to tackle the “growing crisis” of climate change, as United Nations negotiations kicked into high gear in Doha, Qatar.

“Let us be under no illusion. This is a crisis. A threat to us all. Our economies. Our security. And the well-being of our children and those who will come after,” Mr. Ban said at the start of the high-level segment of the 18th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

“The danger signs are all around,” he added, pointing to the unprecedented melting of icecaps, rising sea levels, and land degradation and drought in various parts of the world.

“No one is immune to climate change – rich or poor,” he stated. “It is an existential challenge for the whole human race – our way of life, our plans for the future. We must take ownership. We, collectively, are the problem. Then we should have the solutions.”

The two-week conference brings together the 195 Parties to the UNFCCC, the parent treaty of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. Under the Protocol, 37 States – consisting of highly industrialized countries and countries undergoing the process of transition to a market economy – have legally binding emission limitation and reduction commitments.

Delegates at the two-week conference – that ends this Friday – will, among other goals, try to extend the Kyoto Protocol, whose first commitment period expires at the end of 2012.

“I urge all Parties to work with a spirit of compromise – to take the long view and avoid getting bogged down in minutiae,” Mr. Ban told participants. “Let us ensure that we stay on track for an effective, fair, ambitious and universal climate agreement by 2015.”

The Secretary-General said he hoped for five key “deliverables” by Governments in Doha this week, beginning with the adoption of a ratifiable second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.

“The Kyoto Protocol remains the closest we have to a global, binding climate agreement. It must continue. It is a foundation to build on. It has important institutions, including accounting and legal systems, and the framework that markets sorely need. Its continuation on 1 January 2013 would show that governments remain committed to a more robust climate regime.”

He also expected progress on long-term climate finance, and ensuring that the institutions set up in Cancun and Durban to support mitigation and adaptation by developing countries – including the Green Climate Fund and the Climate Technology Centre and Network – are fully equipped and effective.

In addition, he expected governments to demonstrate, with no ambiguity, that negotiations on a global and legally binding instrument remain on track, and to show how they intend to act on the gap between mitigation pledges and what is required to achieve the two degrees target.

Recent UN-led reports have pointed to the urgency of keeping global average temperatures from rising beyond an internationally agreed level of two degrees Celsius, beyond which climate change would have serious impacts.
“The gap can be bridged. But time is not on our side,” Mr. Ban warned.

The President of the General Assembly, Vuk Jeremic, told the meeting that addressing the problem of climate change must become a core national interest of every UN Member State.

“The window of opportunity to prevent the effects of climate change from spiralling out of our control is closing,” he said. “When future generations look upon the choices we made, let them not be forced to exclaim that we failed to act in time. Let them not have to suffer the consequences of the inability to answer the clarion call to act with conscientious foresight.”

Speaking to reporters in Doha today, Mr. Ban emphasized that “we are in a race against time,” adding that every delay will require greater future effort or will mean greater future harm.

If we act together with clear purpose, we can meet this challenge. But we need to be united – governments from all regions, business and civil society. We have a clear choice: stand together, or fall together.”

MessagePosté le: Mar 4 Déc - 20:04 (2012)    Sujet du message: SINISTER SITES: IRS HEADQUARTERS, MARYLAND Répondre en citant

Nov 28th, 2012 | Category: Featured, Sinister Sites | 112 comments

The IRS headquarters in New Carrollton, Maryland is a government building that, despite being constructed with public funds, contains art referring to elite secret societies. More importantly, the art conveys a strange message about the U.S. Constitution, and the American people in general. We’ll look at the symbolic meaning of the art found in front of the IRS headquarters in Maryland.

The IRS is probably the most hated institution in America – mainly because its primary role is to force people to hand over their hard-earned cash. This modern equivalent of the proverbial tax collector indeed collects money from American workers and gives it to a government that will, in turn, use this money to send drones abroad or to build information superstructures to better monitor these same workers. What’s not to like?

The IRS was originally created as a “temporary measure” during wartime (funny how the Canadian Revenue Agency was also supposed to be “temporary”), but there is nothing temporary about it now. In fact, the gigantic IRS complex in New Carrollton, Maryland was built in 1997 and is still growing today, indicating that this institution is indeed here to stay. This modern building has all of the state-of-the-art amenities one can think of, but it is the odd public art in front of it that is the most noteworthy. As is the case for many government buildings, the art displayed means absolutely nothing to most people, but to those who are versed in secret society symbolism, its implications are manifold and profound. In fact, fully understanding the origins and the meaning of the symbols in front of the IRS building means understanding who are truly in power in America (and around the world), what they believe in and what they truly think about us, the masses.

The IRS is not known to be a very artistic institution and likewise there is not much art present at its headquarters in Maryland. However, the few pieces that are on display manage to convey everything that needs to be known about the occult elite.

 General Layout

The entrance to the IRS headquarters is guarded by two black and white pillars made of the highest quality marble, topped with white hands. Between the two pillars is a dark pyramid with a metallic capstone on which is written “We the People”. What does all of this represent? Here’s an “official” description:

yiv1099011687entry a écrit:
“The most striking elements are the huge, white marble hands atop each column. Each hand points skyward, one with the forefinger extended; the other is an open hand, the fingers ever so slightly cupped.
The 1997 work is called “Vox Populi,” which is Latin for “the voice of the people.” The hand with the raised index finger represents deliberation, argument, the gesticulation of a speaker giving his or her opinion. The hand with an open palm represents the act of voting or taking an oath.”

- The Washington Post,

“The Big Hands of the Law”

That is all well and good, but what does “Vox Populi” have to do with the IRS? Can citizens weigh in or vote on anything about the IRS? Why are the pillars black and white? Why is there a pyramid with a capstone between them? As it is the case for most occult symbols, there’s as basic (and unsatisfactory) interpretation given to the masses and a “real” meaning for those in the know. For those in the know, the art is a nod to the highest degrees of Freemasonry, the true source of power in America – not unlike what the Washington monument stands for.

The art in front of the IRS Headquarters features a pyramid with a capstone between two pillars. The black and white stripes refer to the Hermetic concept of duality.

This Masonic monument in Israel bears exactly the same elements: A pyramid with a capstone between two pillars. The stripes on the ground represent duality.

Let’s look at each element of this (not so) public art.

Twin Pillars

The symbolism of the twin pillars is ancient and very meaningful as it refers to the core of hermetism, the basis of secret society teachings. In short, the pillars represent duality and the union of opposites:

“The right Tablet of the Law further signifies Jachin – the white pillar of light; the left Tablet, Boaz – the shadowy pillar of darkness. These were the names of the two pillars cast from brass set up on the porch of King Solomon’s Temple. They were eighteen cubits in height and beautifully ornamented with wreaths of chainwork, nets, and pomegranates. On the top of each pillar was a large bowl – now erroneously called a ball or globe – one of the bowls probably containing fire and the other water. The celestial globe (originally the bowl of fire), surmounting the right-hand column (Jachin), symbolized the divine man; the terrestrial globe (the bowl of water), surmounting the left-hand column (Boaz), signified the earthly man. These two pillars respectively connote also the active and the passive expressions of Divine Energy, the sun and the moon, sulphur and salt, good and bad, light and darkness. Between them is the door leading into the House of God, and standing thus at the gates of Sanctuary they are a reminder that Jehovah is both an androgynous and an anthropomorphic deity. As two parallel columns they denote the zodiacal signs of Cancer and Capricorn, which were formerly placed in the chamber of initiation to represent birth and death – the extremes of physical life. They accordingly signify the summer and the winter solstices, now known to Freemasons under the comparatively modern appellation of the “two St. Johns.”
In the mysterious Sephirothic Tree of the Jews, these two pillars symbolize Mercy and Severity. Standing before the gate of King Solomon’s Temple, these columns had the same symbolic import as the obelisks before the sanctuaries of Egypt. When interpreted Qabbalistically, the names of the two pillars mean “In strength shall My House be established. “In the splendor of mental and spiritual illumination, the High Priest stood between the pillars as a mute witness to the perfect virtue of equilibrium – that hypothetical point equidistant from all extremes. He thus personified the divine nature of man in the midst of his compound constitution – the mysterious Pythagorean Monad in the presence of the Duad. On one side towered the stupendous column of the intellect; on the other, the brazen pillar of the flesh. Midway between these two stands the glorified wise man, but he cannot reach this high estate without first suffering upon the cross made by joining these pillars together. The early Jews occasionally represented the two pillars, Jachin and Boaz, as the legs of Jehovah, thereby signifying to the modern philosopher that Wisdom and Love, in their most exalted sense, support the whole order of creation – both mundane and supermundane.”

- Manly P. Hall, The Secret Teachings of All Ages

The same way Masonic pillars guard the entrance of Masonic temples, two pillars guard the entrance of the IRS building.

Masonic art depicting the twin pillars named Jachin and Boaz guarding the entrance of a Masonic temple.

While not all pillars are necessarily Masonic, those in front of the IRS building contain other features that leave no doubt regarding their secret society connection.

The IRS pillars feature exactly 13 black and white stripes and a very significant hand sign.

Sharply contrasting with the rest of the building, the pillars are stripped in black and white, a pattern evoking duality, a concept that is visually represented on the Masonic mosaic pavement.

Probably the most important feature in Masonic lodges, the black and white checkerboard pattern is meant to be a visual representation of the concept of duality. Variations of this pattern do exist.

To make things even more explicitly Masonic (for those in the know) each pillar is comprised of exactly 13 stripes, a number that is of the utmost importance in Masonic lore (research the omnipresence of the number 13 on the American dollar bill). Considering the constant attention to occult numerology in Masonic art, this fact alone should be very telling.

Above each pillar are white marble hands. It is interesting to know that formal Masonic attire requires white gloves. One of the hands points upwards, towards the sky. While the official meaning claims that it refers to the act of public discussion and discourse, this hand sign, place in the esoteric context of the artwork, takes on a much more ancient and mystical meaning.

Named the “hand to god”, the “sign of Preservation” or the “hand of the Mysteries”, the sign of the hand pointing upwards can be found in many works of art that bear an esoteric meaning. It appears to be always associated with figures that are seen to possess “knowledge from the gods”.

The classic depiction of Hermes always depicts him pointing towards the heavens. Known as the “messenger of God”, Hermes is a central figure in Masonic lore. He is considered to be the teacher of theurgic sciences, therefore helping humanity ascend towards godhood (the word Hermetism derives from Hermes).

“Plato, an initiate of one of these sacred orders, was severely criticized because in his writings he revealed to the public many of the secret philosophic principles of the Mysteries.” – Manly P. Hall. In this classic depiction of Plato by Raphael, he is pointing upwards – probably because he “initiated” the world to some of the secret teachings of Mystery schools.

This Masonic item for sale at 1stdibs.com features the same hand sign as found in front of the IRS building.

In the context of esoteric teachings, a human pointing towards God can represent the ultimate goal of the Mysteries: Ascending from the state of mere mortal to achieve godhood.

The hand above the other pillar does not point towards the sky, but is rather opened. While pointing towards somewhere means moving into that direction, an opened palm is traditionally associated with “stop” or “halt”. In Masonic symbolism, the twin pillars are often topped with contrasting symbols (the sun and the moon or globes representing earth and heavens). Could the white hands above the pillars represent the same opposite notions of godhood (pointing towards god) and earthly materiality (halt sign)?

On these Masonic pillars are etched various quotes regarding the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Some of them are quite odd in the context of today, such this one by Barbara Jordan:

“The Bill of Rights was not ordained by Nature or God. It’s very human, very fragile.” Hmmm, that’s … unsettling.

Considering the fact that a bunch of laws blatantly violating the Bill of Rights (notably the First and Fourth Amendment) were enacted shortly after this building was erected, one can ask if this quote wasn’t some kind of a warning. As we see new police-state-style laws violating privacy, free speech and encouraging oppression, we can definitely conclude that the elite views the Bill of Rights as something “very human, very fragile” that can easily be violated. While the above quote can be interpreted as a reminder to not take the Bill of Rights for granted, in the context of its location, it conveys an unsettling message about how it can easily be tampered with … and even disappear. Think I’m going too far? Check out this next piece.

The Pyramid

Between the two pillars is the most recognizable symbol representing the occult elite: A pyramid with a shiny capstone. On the pyramid is written the US Constitution, which famously starts with “We the People”. Looking closer at this sculptures, several questions come to mind.

First, why is the U.S. Constitution etched on a symbol that is associated with occult secret societies whose highest degrees are restricted to “elite men”? Isn’t there a contradiction here? Second, it is somewhat clear that the charcoal-colored base of the pyramid represents the masses (it is written “We the People” right on it), while the shiny, illuminated capstone represents the “illuminated” elite. Isn’t this … elitist? Does the capstone that is standing above the pyramid and the U.S. Constitution mean that the elite is above the law? Finally, why isn’t the Bill of Rights on the pyramid? Is it because it is “very human, very fragile”? Is it considered outdated by the NWO elite? As it is the case for many Sinister Sites described on Vigilant Citizen, this barely noticeable artwork contains an infinitely of dark implications.

In Conclusion

In this edition of Sinister Sites, we looked at a relatively small amount of items that nonetheless conveyed a massive amount of symbolism. Far from being merely decorative, the art in front of the IRS building in Maryland describes in a symbolic matter the true source of power behind the American (and world) government, its spiritual and political philosophy, its perception of the masses and so forth. But while the symbolism is unmistakably Masonic, your local front-porch Freemasons have nothing to do with the occult elite. Those in power are part of the highest, hidden levels of the order – what we like to call the Illuminati.

While the IRS doesn’t shy away from collecting money from every single American worker in the United States, the occult symbols in front of its headquarters is not definitely not meant for every single American worker. It is meant to be understood by a very few “select” ones – the same way real power is owned by a very few “select” ones. Why are there symbols associated with secretive and elite groups displayed on buildings that are supposedly public? Isn’t this a contradiction?

While some might say that the true, mystical meaning behind these symbols is not inherently evil, the real upsetting part is that those “in the capstone” are clearly telling us that those at the base of the pyramid are not meant to understand these things. They are meant to be distracted and controlled in order to fund the elite while not causing too much damage … and that’s about it. And the IRS is part of the equation.

Contrarily to the “official” meaning of the pointing hand, no citizen has a say on the policies of these institution or even what they display in front of their building. It is rather those in the capstone that dictate what will happening to “We the People” … even if it means making the Bill of Rights disappear. As the official IRS motto goes: Service plus Enforcement equals Compliance. In short, maybe the finger that is pointing upwards should be the middle one.

ENGLISH : Open letter to UN Secretary-General: Current scientific knowledge does not substantiate Ban Ki-Moon assertions on weather and climate, say 125-plus scientists

H.E. Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General, United Nations
First Avenue and East 44thStreet, New York, New York, U.S.A. November 29, 2012.

Choire Sicha | January 15th, 2013

Conservative millionaire entertainer and peddler of conspiracy theories Glenn Beck is building a city-state, "an entirely self-sustaining community called Independence Park." I can't wait to visit, it sounds like it will be very welcoming to all kinds of Americans.

He's on the right track, though. So are the seasteaders. And the gun-hoarding survivalists of all stripes. And those of us who are interested in reviving the New York City Secession Movement. (Our plan is to secede and then, uh, magically raise the city by 30 feet. Still working on details there, do check back.) But yes. The coasts will drown, or the United States will disband, or World War III will come, or the currency will go belly-up, or the NATO black helicopters will take us out, or the squirrels will take over, or some combination thereof will occur in the not terribly distant future.

These concerns inspired the dream of the arcology, which gripped SF writers for decades. A self-sustaining city-state is the simplest way to deal with generation ships, post-apocalyptic societies, climate change and the future of overpopulation, after all. And Mussolini even kind of tried it, with the planned city EUR, so it must be a good idea.

Paolo Soleri gets credit for the term. Since 1970, the architect has been building Arcosanti, which is really more an "experimental town" (an "urban laboratory" in their words) than an arcology. If you're ever driving from Flagstaff to Phoenix, then 1. definitely stab yourself for doing that and 2. check it out!

Magazines like Wired love to identify COMING-SOON arcologies that are under construction. Or "under construction." These are all Very Shareable Photogenic Things that the Internet loves. How are all these projects doing? Turns out: not very well. LET'S LOOK TOGETHER.

Arcologies are the province of design competitions. What's better than a design competition? You get to make some crazy plan, and then, if you're Zaha Hadid or Norman Foster, you maybe get to build a cool museum or a mildly green train station now and then. But for everything else, everyone on the Internet passes around your renderings, presenting them as news. The problem being: renderings are never news, because they almost never get built. Anyone who's looked at New York City's building process in the last 12 years should know that at a fundamental level.

But some arcologies came close. A few even exist! And a few others probably should.

The Shimizu TRY 2004 Mega-City Pyramid

This is "a proposed project for construction of a massive pyramid over Tokyo Bay in Japan. The structure would be about 14 times higher than the Great Pyramid at Giza, and would house 750,000 people."

Why it doesn't work: "The proposed structure is so large that it cannot be built with currently available materials, due to their weight." (Good news: they have lunar base plans too though.)

Masdar City

Masdar City, nestled uncomfortably next to the Abu Dhabi airport, is really more of a business demonstration project for renewable energy and for making lots of money. Masdar is a company that is a subsidiary of Mubadala, which is a "wholly owned investment vehicle" of the government of Abu Dhabi. So Mubadala is an amazing thing: a financial firm, an aerospace research and production firm, a healthcare firm, and basically everything else you would shove into one company if you were super-smart and had all of the money and were also THE GOVERNMENT. Mindblowing, right?

So "Masdar City" is actually a special economic zone—while being half-residential at the same time. Why would you put your company there? "The benefits of setting up in Masdar City include 100% foreign ownership with no restrictions on capital movements, profits or quotas, strong IP protection framework, zero per cent import tariffs, zero per cent corporate or individual tax and zero currency restrictions." Ah.

VIDEO : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqGRQmVrAVs&feature=player_embedded

Even in a country of wild resources, Masdar City has been scaled back: "the final population will probably not exceed 40,000 and the completion date has been put at 2021 or 2025. The idea of a second Masdar City has been dropped; a $2.2bn hydrogen power project has been called off, as has a 'thin film' solar manufacturing plant, intended for Abu Dhabi."

Still, be right back, opening up The Awl Masdar City offices.

Why it doesn't work: You can't export the bizarre economy of Abu Dhabi to the rest of the world. Hmm. At least… not yet.

The New Orleans Arcology Habitat

Aww, someone does care about New Orleans. Yes, meet me there for lunch, surely this already exists, right? (Kidding! It doesn't and it never will.)

Why it doesn't work: Capitalism. Also probably racism.

Crystal Island

Oh the ballyhooed Crystal Island. The world's biggest building, everyone exclaimed, back in 2007: "Sir Norman Foster’s mountainous 27 million square feet spiraling 'city within a building.'" Will this building ever happen?

Hmm: "The proposed site for the Crystal Island is a peninsula located five miles from the city centre. Flights into Moscow’s Domodedovo airport bank sharply over the proposed site shortly before landing. " Oh and: "However construction has not yet begun, and has been postponed due to the economic crisis—whether it'll start up again remains to be seen." Spoiler: unlikely. (Not to be confused with Shenzen's Crystal Island! Which won a design competition in 2009 and also will never exist.)

Also: it seems to no longer appear on Foster + Partners' website. So there's that then. (Though they still list Russia Tower! Which was canceled in 2009. And was a very good building.)

Why it doesn't work: Because nobody wants a giant Christmas wart exploding near the airport. Also, capitalism.

"The eco-city of Dongtan, construction of which is planned for the island of Chongming off Shanghai, is an ambitious vision of sustainable design and urban planning, including an entirely self-sufficient energy system,"

sounds great. Current status: disaster. "The island's western end, where Dongtan was planned, will soon be taken over by high-rise, high-footprint apartments. The first are already under construction."

Why it doesn't work: Capitalism, but in the opposite way.

The Lady Landfill Skyscraper

Haha, yes,

a floating magical city that cleans the oceans. See you there soon, really soon.

Why it doesn't work: Seasickness.

Foxconn City

"Apple had redesigned the iPhone’s screen at the last minute, forcing an assembly line overhaul. New screens began arriving at the plant near midnight. A foreman immediately roused 8,000 workers inside the company’s dormitories, according to the executive.

Each employee was given a biscuit and a cup of tea, guided to a workstation and within half an hour started a 12-hour shift fitting glass screens into beveled frames. Within 96 hours, the plant was producing over 10,000 iPhones a day."

Why it doesn't work: Oh, it does.

Peoples still living in tents, they receive no help from their government, been vaccinated and famine is growing. Thousand of peoples die since the big earthquake who destroy the land. Remember that they have to destroy the old world to built a new one, showing us that all the catastrophic events were pre-plan.

But likes in other countries, the elite is ready to build the new Atlantic world under environmental new rules. Only a few peoples will control all these new environmental program. By this ruse, they'll able to shut down thousand and thousand of small business workers.

If you see the big TV promotion, you will find promotion to the new touristic hotels and the new airport they want to build. These lands were still to the peoples and sold to big cies under the disguise to bring back Haiti economy.

Jurriaan Maessen
March 4, 2013

Scientific publication envisions “a strategic multilateral implementation (of planetary scale geoengineering) through an exclusive ‘club’ that increases benefits to members at the expense of those excluded.”

In a recent publication published by Environmental Research Letters, three scientists have published the results of a computer simulation “game”, probing several scenario’s on how to best organize a “unilateral implementation scheme” of global geoengineering.

“(…) a sufficiently powerful international coalition might be able to deploy solar geoengineering. Here, we show that regional differences in climate outcomes create strategic incentives to form coalitions that are as small as possible, while still powerful enough to deploy solar geoengineering.”

Defining geoengineering as “intentionally reducing the amount of sunlight that reaches Earth’s surface through the use of stratospheric aerosols”, the authors used climate models (such as the ones used by the IPCC) as the basis for their “gaming” activities- which they describe as “global thermostat setting game”:

“ The characteristics of coalitions to geoengineer climate are modeled using a ‘global thermostat setting game’ based on climate model results. Coalition members have incentives to exclude non-members that would prevent implementation of solar geoengineering at a level that is optimal for the existing coalition.”, authors Katharine Ricke and Ken Caldeira point out.

Under “rules and assumptions” the authors explain that “the game takes place in two stages.”

“During the first stage players choose their memberships and the winning coalition is formed. In the second stage, the winning coalition acts as a single actor to maximize the benefits of geoengineering to all coalition members. Players outside the coalition do not make decisions in this second stage.”

From the assertion that man made climate change will have different results from region to region, the scientists involved in this modeling business factored these differences into their “global thermostat setting game”, as a result of which researched different international coalitions that would be most likely to succeed in starting and maintaining a global geoengineering effort:

“(…) If a decision were made somehow to move ahead with the deployment of an intentionally introduced stratospheric aerosol layer, some regions might prefer a cooling or warming relative to the current climate, creating complicated problems in setting the global thermostat. In addition, several modeling studies have demonstrated that if solar geoengineering is used to compensate for rising greenhouse-gas concentrations and is then stopped abruptly, very rapid warming can occur. Thus, if solar geoengineering is ever implemented, stopping suddenly poses a threat.”

From this assertion follows a draconian consequence, namely that only a sustained geongineering effort of the earth’s atmosphere on the part of an international coalition can do the job. The premise of the paper, supported by their computer simulations, is that an “exclusive club” of nations taking the rein, would be the best way to sustain such a spraying campaign for a sufficient period of time:

“a strategic multilateral implementation through an exclusive ‘club’ that increases benefits to members at the expense of those excluded. If the option of a global coalition is accounted for in formulating a system of intracoalitional transfers, the game presented here always produces a stable and powerful coalition in which all coalition members benefit from excluding other parties.”

The rational behind this seemingly contradictory statement reads as follows:

“Under an exclusive coalitions model of international agreements to geoengineer, if one coalition breaks down, another is ready and eager to take its place. As the potential harm from termination grows (i.e., as the amount of greenhouse-gas forcings being compensated for with geoengineering increases), so too do the incentives to avoid this termination among all potential coalitions.”

That the geoengineering efforts by this exclusive club are a thing of the long haul is evident from the authors’ assertion that “if the coalition so decides, solar geoengineering can be implemented starting in 2015 and negotiations among club members only will determine the setting of the global thermostat for the next ten years. In each subsequent decade, negotiations begin anew, and determine a new thermostat setting for the next ten years.”

After the publication lists the outcomes of their gaming models, they conclude by stating that the “exclusive club” scenario, as opposed to an inclusive one, turns out to be the desired way to move forward:

“(…) the results of our game simulations show the maximum achievable benefits regions can gain by acting strategically to form exclusive clubs; this necessarily imposes damages on non-members relative to their preferences”.

The outcomes of this publication are inherently draconian, especially if we take into account the fact that the World Economic Forum in its latest Global Risks report warned that a “rogue nation” or individual could “hijack” global climate change for nefarious purposes. The report mentions several possible scenario’s, or X-factors, which could occur in the coming year, among which (page 57) a geoengineering nightmare, according to the report, “in which a country or small group of countries precipitates an international crisis by moving ahead with deployment or large-scale research independent of the global community. The global climate could, in effect, be hijacked by a rogue country or even a wealthy individual, with unpredictable costs to agriculture, infrastructure and global stability.”

This is an ironical confusion like only top globalist factions can produce. Where the World Economic Forum warns us about possible “rogue” parties moving ahead with planetary-wide geoengineering schemes, another group of globalist-funded scientists suggest an “exclusive club” shoud take the reins over global spraying efforts to “offset global warming”.

In the WEF-report we get the impression that the “rogue” parties described are parties that have not or will not sign onto global agreements presided over by the UN. This, according to the report, “leaves a gap for unregulated experimentation.”

“For example”, the report states “an island state threatened with rising sea levels may decide they have nothing to lose, or a well funded individual with good intentions may take matters into their own hands. There are signs that this is already starting to occur.”

“Recent studies”, the report goes on to state, “suggest that a small fleet of aircraft could inject a million tonnes of sulphur compounds into the stratosphere – enough to offset roughly half of the global warming experienced to date – for US$1-2 billion annually.”

According to environmental writer Clive Hamilton in a 2010 article for the Guardian “a powerful coalition of forces is quietly constellating around the idea of transforming the Earth’s atmosphere by simulating volcanic eruptions to counter the warming effects of carbon pollution. Engineering the planet’s climate system is attracting the attention of scientists, scientific societies, venture capitalists and conservative think tanks. Despite the enormity of what is being proposed — nothing less than taking control of Earth’s climate system — the public has been almost entirely excluded from the planning”.

In the context of the recent modeling tables published in Environmental Research Letters, these words by Hamilton (himself a believer in man-made climate change) have been taken account before they commenced with their “global thermostat setting game”. Hamilton wrote in 2010:

“If there is no international agreement an impatient nation suffering the effects of climate disruption may decide to act alone. It is not out of the question that in three decades the climate of the Earth could be determined by a handful of Communist Party officials in Beijing. Or the government of an Australia crippled by permanent drought, collapsing agriculture and ferocious bushfires could risk the wrath of the world by embarking on a climate control project”.

Apart from the fact that any planetary scale geoengineering effort would be incomprehensibly irresponsible- and apart from the fact that anthropogenic global warming is in essence a pseudo-science- the fact that scientists are now envisioning an elite club of nations taking the reins in global geoengineering should make the alarm-bells go off all over the place.

MessagePosté le: Ven 8 Mar - 17:17 (2013)    Sujet du message: AGENDA 21 IS BEING RAMMED DOWN THE THROATS OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES ALL OVER AMERICA Répondre en citant

By Michael, on December 23rd, 2012

Have you ever heard of Agenda 21? If not, don't feel bad, because most Americans haven't. It is essentially a blueprint for a "sustainable world" that was introduced at the UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992. Since then, it has been adopted by more than 200 counties and it has been modified and updated at other UN environmental summits. The philosophy behind Agenda 21 is that our environmental problems are the number one problem that we are facing, and that those problems are being caused by human activity. Therefore, according to Agenda 21 human activity needs to be tightly monitored, regulated and controlled for the greater good. Individual liberties and freedoms must be sacrificed for the good of the planet. If you are thinking that this sounds like it is exactly the opposite of what our founding fathers intended when they established this nation, you would be on the right track.

Those that promote the philosophy underlying Agenda 21 believe that human activity must be "managed" and that letting people make their own decisions is "destructive" and "dangerous". Sadly, the principles behind Agenda 21 are being rammed down the throats of local communities all over America, and most of the people living in those communities don't even realize it.

So how is this being done? Well, after Agenda 21 was adopted, an international organization known as the "International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives" (ICLEI) was established to help implement the goals of Agenda 21 in local communities. One thing that they learned very quickly was that the "Agenda 21" label was a red flag for a lot of people. It tended to create quite a bit of opposition on the local level.

As they try to implement their goals, they very rarely use the term "Agenda 21" anymore. Instead, they use much more harmless sounding labels such as "smart growth", "comprehensive land use planning" and especially "sustainable development".

So just because something does not carry the Agenda 21 label does not mean that it is not promoting the goals of Agenda 21.

The goals of Agenda 21 are not only being implemented in the United States. This is a massive worldwide effort that is being coordinated by the United Nations. An article that was posted on RedState.com discussed some of the history of Agenda 21...

In simplified terms, Agenda 21 is a master blueprint, or guidelines, for constructing “sustainable” communities. Agenda 21 was put forth by the UN’s Commission on Sustainable Development, and was adopted by over 200 countries (signed into “soft law” by George Bush Sr.) at the United Nations Rio Conference in 1992. In 1994 the President’s Council for Sustainable Development was created via Executive Order by Bill Clinton to begin coordinating efforts at the Federal level to make the US Agenda 21 compliant.

The same year that Bill Clinton established the President’s Council for Sustainable Development, the International Code Council was also created.

The International Code Council has developed a large number of "international codes" which are intended to replace existing building codes all over the United States. The following is a list of these codes from Wikipedia...

International Building Code
International Residential Code
International Fire Code
International Plumbing Code
International Mechanical Code
International Fuel Gas Code
International Energy Conservation Code
ICC Performance Code
International Wildland Urban Interface Code
International Existing Building Code
International Property Maintenance Code
International Private Sewage Disposal Code
International Zoning Code
International Green Construction Code

These codes are very long and exceedingly boring, and those that write them know that hardly anyone will ever read them.

And for the most part, they contain a lot of things that are contained in existing building codes or that are common sense.

But a lot of poison has also been inserted into these codes. If you read them carefully, the influence of Agenda 21 is painfully obvious.

Unfortunately, even most of the local politicians that are adopting these codes don't take the time to read them. Most of them just assume that they are "updating" their existing building codes.

So what often happens is that there will be fights in local communities between citizens that are concerned about the encroachment of Agenda 21 and local politicians who regard such talk as nonsense. The following is an example of what is happening all over the nation...

Summit Hill Borough Council last night unanimously adopted the "2012 edition of the International Property Maintenance Code," but not before some audience members expressed vehement opposition to it.

An overflow crowd of 34 people attended the meeting, with some there to specifically voice their displeasure.

Sandy Dellicker, a borough resident, said she was against using an "international" maintenance code, arguing that it falls under the plan of Agenda 21 of the United Nations; an agenda for the 21st Century.

She said, "UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development is the action plan to inventory and control all land, all water, all minerals, all plants, all animals, all construction, all means of production, all information, all energy, and all human beings in the world."

"This is not a conspiracy theory," she told the council. "This is for real."

She said the International Property Maintenance Code had been adopted in Montgomery County, but the county "has already gotten rid of it" because of its dictatorial direction.

"This is not what Summit Hill and the United States is about," she said.

Council members pooh-poohed her assessment. "In my opinion, the International Property Maintenance Code is to protect citizens," said Council President Michael Kokinda.

It would be great if these codes were just about public safety. But that is simply not the case. Sadly, these codes are often used to fine or even imprison homeowners that haven't done anything wrong. Sometimes "code violations" are even used as justification to legally steal property from law-abiding homeowners. A post on the Freedom Reigns Radio blog detailed some of the things that are often done in the name of "code enforcement"...

1) The ‘Code Official’ – anybody the jurisdiction calls – a ‘Code Official’ – is the sole interpreter – no due process – Gestapo!
2) Every day an offense occurs is a separate mandatory misdemeanor - $555/day and/or a month in jail in Charleston, W.Va. They can fine you out of your home and jail you at their whim!
3) Anything the ‘Code Official’ says is not in good working condition – sticky window, dented or plugged gutter, torn window screen – whatever he says is not in good working order – hundreds of dollars of fines per day and/or jail time – usually a month – for every day the offense occurs.
4) Any unsanitary condition – whatever the ‘Code Official’ says is an ‘unsanitary condition’ – empty pop cans – puddles – dog droppings on your property – same deal – same fines and/or jail time – every day.
5) Any plant that the ‘Code Official’ says is a ‘noxious weed’ – same deal – same fines and/or jail time – every day. He can steal raw land.
6) He can fine you out of your home and jail you with no due process. Any court proceedings are window dressing as there is no remedy associated with this ‘code.’
7) It can be ‘adopted’ – just by an ‘administrative decree.’

1) Enter your house whenever he – the sole interpreter – deems reasonable.
2) Prevent you from entering your house.
3) Tear your house down with your stuff in it.
4) Bill you for the demolition.
5) Place a lien on it for fines and/or demolition charges – steal it.
6) And ‘best’ of all, no insurance I know of will cover your losses.

You’re left w/a house and your ‘stuff’ in a landfill – and any remaining unpaid mortgage, any remaining fines, any remaining taxes, and any remaining demolition charges after they steal your property.

These codes restrict what homeowners can do with their own properties in thousands of different ways. If you rebel against one of the codes, the penalties can be extremely harsh.

And there is often "selective enforcement" of these codes. That means that they will leave most people alone but they will come down really hard on people that they do not like. You could even end up with a SWAT team on your doorstep.
Just ask some of the people who have been through this kind of thing.

Even if you have your mortgage completely paid off, that doesn't mean that you really "own" your property. If you don't pay your taxes and obey the "codes", you could lose your property very rapidly.

The philosophy behind all of this is the same philosophy behind Agenda 21. The elite believe that you cannot be trusted to do the "right thing" with your own property and that your activity must be "managed" for the greater good. They believe that by controlling you and restricting your liberties that they are "saving the planet".

Unfortunately, you can probably expect this to get a whole lot worse in the years ahead. Our society is shifting from one that cherishes individual liberties and freedoms to one that is fully embracing collectivism. So our politicians will likely be making even more of our decisions for us as the years move forward.

Do any of you out there have any "code violation horror stories" to share? If so, please share them with us by posting a comment below...

MessagePosté le: Mer 2 Oct - 03:14 (2013)    Sujet du message: WOOD STOVE BAN MADE UNIVERSAL Répondre en citant

Posted by: Arctic Conservative Posted date: September 30, 2013http://freepatriot.org/topics/videos/

For many years, those of us in the Arctic have been fighting the wood stove ban. The use of PM2.5 particulates has been an issue pursued by local agencies as a way to swipe at those who choose to live beyond the borders of traditional civilization. That attack has now extended to the rest of the United States.

In a stunning move, the Environmental Protection Agency decided to ban most of the operational wood stoves in the U.S.

In those places where there is you, God, and nature, the wood stove has represented that one thing that can sustain. Going after local PM2.5 particulates has been one of many methods to attack those who choose to live independent of government. As Off Grid and American Prepper survival report reveals:

The EPA’s new environmental regulations reduce the amount of airborne fine-particle matter from 15 micrograms to 12 micrograms per cubic meter of air.
This means that most wood burning stoves would now fall into a class that would deemed unacceptable under these new draconian measures. The EPA has even launched a nifty new website called Burn Wise to try to sway public opinion.
On their site, while trying to convince people to get rid of their old stoves and buy the new EPA-certified stoves, they state that these older stove must be scrapped and cannot be resold.

Well, at least in Alaska we had a wood stove change-out program for a time. In that program, Alaskans were able to force the government to buy the old wood stoves and replace them with new ones. It doesn’t seem that this kind of program is included with these new regulations. The EPA states:

Enclosed is the list of wood stoves certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA Certified Wood Stoveslist contains information about wood stoves or wood heating appliances that have been certified by the EPA along with its manufacturer name, model name, emission rate (g/hr), heat output (btu/hr), efficiency (actual measured and estimated), and type of appliance. It also indicates whether the appliance is still being manufactured. An EPA certified wood stove or wood heating appliance has been independently tested by an accredited laboratory to determine whether it meets the particulate emissions limit of 7.5* grams per hour for noncatalytic wood stoves and 4.1* grams per hour for catalytic wood stoves. All wood heating appliances that are offered for sale in the United States are subject to the New Source Performance Standard for New Residential Wood Heaters under the Clean Air Act and are required to meet these emission limits. An EPA certified wood stove can be identified by a temporary paper label attached to the front of the wood stove and a permanent metal label affixed to the back or side of the wood stove

The EPA also includes a list of acceptable stoves in an Adobe file  here.

The history of Alaskans fighting this  in the Arctic can be found here.

This is just more policy making by regulators out of control with no authority. It seems to me that if this is what the EPA feels it needs to do to combat global warming, then perhaps a government shutdown will be a good thing.

Ici même, à Varsovie », a martelé M. Sano.

27 November 2013

At the 19th Conference of Parties (COP19) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Warsaw, Poland, representatives of faith communities called for a just climate deal to be adopted by the UN in 2015. Many observers viewing the event from ethical and spiritual perspectives commented that COP19 concluded without fulfilling expectations of the victims of climate change.

The issue of the impact of climate justice on vulnerable communities was brought into focus during a joint event of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and CIDSE, an international alliance of Catholic development agencies, held alongside COP19 in Warsaw on 21 November.

The participants in the joint event echoed concerns raised by Naderev Yeb Saño, the Philippines’ representative at the UN climate change talks, who called the parties to deliver a meaningful outcome and started a “spiritual fast” that lasted for the two weeks of the negotiations. Held in a context of more than 5,000 casualties and the destruction caused recently by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Saño’s symbolic act of fasting was joined by faith communities in Poland and beyond.

The agreements reached at COP19 proposing a new mechanism to help victims of typhoons, floods, droughts and other impacts of climate change, as well as pledges to the Adaptation Fund of up to 100 million US dollars from developed countries, are still far from being sufficient to respond adequately to the climate crisis.

Faith communities have called to continue the spiritual fast one day per month until the next COP20, to be held in Lima, Peru in December 2014.

At the WCC-CIDSE event, discussions moderated by Rev. Bill Somplatsky-Jarman of the Presbyterian Church (USA) featured a powerful presentation by Dissarama Sabine Attama from Caritas Niger. Attama shared stories on how climate change is affecting her home country, especially the peasants who are among the most vulnerable and poor.

Fr. Frederick D'Souza, director of Caritas India, also spoke about initiatives in his home country implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies to address climate change.

Addressing climate change, supporting climate victims

During the discussions, Joy Kennedy from the Canadian Council of Churches (CCC) spoke about the challenges of climate change that have induced resettlements in the Pacific. In remarks based on the WCC 10th Assembly Minute on Climate Justice issued in Busan, Republic of Korea, she referred to “climate victims as a new face of the poor and most vulnerable, especially loved and cared for by God.” Kennedy quoted the Minute and its call for “churches to speak out when creation is affected by climate change, as an expression of our commitment to life, JUSTICE and PEACE.”

Rev. Henrik Grape from the Church of Sweden made a presentation on LOVE, PEACE and UNDERSTANDING as driving forces to move the climate change discussions to action, stressing that faith communities can and must contribute to the UN response towards climate change.

At a press conference of representatives of faith communities in Warsaw moderated by Dr Guillermo Kerber, WCC programme executive for Care for Creation and Climate Justice, speakers recognized the spiritual fasting of hundreds of people around the world during COP19 as an expression of solidarity with the victims of climate change.

In his comments Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, the WCC general secretary, said, “the WCC 10th Assembly has recently stressed the urgency of climate crisis in a Minute on Climate Justice. The interfaith fast for climate justice is one concrete way churches and other religious institutions have expressed their concern about the situation and the negotiations at COP 19 in Warsaw.”

While presenting the WCC statement titled JUSTICE and PEACE must prevail: We must not betray life! on behalf of faith communities at the high level segment of COP19, Joy Kennedy concluded by saying: “Do not betray us, do not betray yourselves and your families, and do not betray the hopes of the world of the future. Act and act now! The future is here, the future is today. The world cannot wait: climate change is happening. JUSTICE and PEACE must prevail.”
