POLICE MILITARIZATION IN COLORADO: COPS IN FATIGUES TOTING AUTOMATIC WEAPONS DISPERSE ANTI-EVICTION ACTIVISTS

Submitted by sosadmin on Wed, 10/31/2012 - 18:23

"Be advised that everybody on the property is trespassing." So said a Creek County Sheriff Department officer as he ordered activists off of private property yesterday.

He and his fellow officers looked like they were dressed for combat in a war zone, but in fact they had come to evict a woman from her home in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The following photos depict those officers, dressed in combat fatigues and carrying assault weapons, before and during arrests of activists affiliated with Occupy Denver at yesterday's foreclosure defense. (Photos by activist Ambrose Cruz.)

The homeowner facing eviction was apparently underwater on her mortgage with US Bank. She says she told the bank that all she was asking was for another 30 days in the home before an eviction. She needed an extra month in order to find another place to live, she said.

But US Bank and the Creek County Sheriff's Department had other plans, culminating a show of force that thoroughly alarmed activists who had descended on the property to attempt to prevent the eviction.
Twitter user @eadvocate reported what was happening on scene:

All the homeowner was trying to negotiate was 30 days to move out with dignity - to find a home to move to. She was met with assault rifles.

You can see video from the eviction below. A livestreamer was temporarily detained but appears to have been released.

CANADA : TEEN ARRESTED FOR INNOCENTLY PHOTOGRAPHING SECURITY GUARD MALL ARREST

Sunday, November 04, 2012 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) 16-year-old Jakub Markiewicz of Vancouver, B.C., in Canada is an aspiring journalist with a knack for old-fashioned film photography and live, on-scene reporting. But his recent capture of an arrest that took place at the local Metrotown shopping mall in Burnaby, a town just east of Vancouver, led to his own unprovoked take-down and arrest by shopping mall security guards and local police, who tried to demand that Jakub delete the photos from his film camera, which anyone familiar with photography knows is impossible.

It all started when Jakub was walking through the mall one day back in September and observed what he believed to be a newsworthy event. Mall "rent-a-cops" had pummeled a man to the floor, and were in the process of arresting him as Jakub began snapping pictures of the tumultuous incident. Believing his actions to be perfectly legal, which they absolutely were, Jakub was shocked when security guards suddenly began yelling at him, demanding that he immediately "delete" the photographs from his film camera.

Jakub tried to explain that film-based photos cannot be deleted, and proceeded to walk away towards the exit, snapping one more photo on his way out. But as he was leaving, the security guards decided to illegally detain him by first attempting to grab his camera, and then forcing him to the ground. While this was taking place, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) arrived on the scene, presumably to handle the other arrest, but were also called on to arrest Jakub.

"They're just yelling and screaming, and just telling me to stop resisting," recalled Jakub in a recent interview with Canada's CBC News. "I was like, just perplexed. I was like, 'What's going on here, why am I being treated like this?'"

Police state grows more violent, now attacking innocent children for merely taking pictures

While being forced to the ground by both mall security and police, Jakub says he clenched his body around a bag he was holding that contained two of his cameras in an effort to protect them from being damaged. But the thugs proceeded to rough Jakub around, cutting the camera bag with a knife from his back, and demanding for a second time that he delete the photos from his camera. Jakub was eventually escorted outside into an RCMP cruiser where he was hauled off, but later released without charges.

"There's no real threat to anyone by having a camera and snapping a picture," said Zbigniew Markiewicz, Jakub's father, to CBC News. Douglas King, a local lawyer from Pivot Legal in Vancouver, agrees, having told the news station that neither mall security nor local police have the right to seize individuals' cameras or demand that they delete photos, even on private property.

ISLAMIC SUPREMACISTS IN GERMANY GLORIGY JIHAD AND CALL FOR ATTACKS ON GERMANY

Treason. Or multiculturalism. "German Islamists Target Youth on the Internet," by Christoph Sydow for Spiegel, November 1 (thanks to Benedict):

Citation:
A growing community of German-speaking Islamists has developed on the Internet. Aiming to find new recruits, they glorify jihad and call for attacks on Germany. A new study warns that such online propaganda might foster a new generation of terrorists. Info

As a rapper, Denis Cuspert was a bit player, but as a propagandist for jihad he is a star in some circles. He has gained considerable prominence since 2010, when he transformed himself from a Berlin hip-hop artist named Deso Dogg into the Islamist Abu Malik.

Actually, not much has changed since he became a Salafist. He still makes music, and distributes it primarily through the Internet. But instead of performing rap songs like "Gangxta" and "Ich und mein Baby" ("Me and My Baby"), he releases so-called Anasheed, or Islamic vocal music in which he glorifies jihad.

Cuspert's songs have attained cult status among radical Islamists in Germany. At the request of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Berlin, three of his jihadist songs were labeled as being harmful to minors in early 2012.

Today, the ex-rapper is one of the most prominent German-speaking propagandists for jihad on the Internet. A new study by the Berlin-based Foundation for Science and Politics (SWP), which advises the German government, addresses the development of the Islamist scene on the Internet in detail for the first time.
Sophisticated Websites

International terrorist groups like al-Qaida recognized the importance of the Internet for recruiting new supporters early on. But it wasn't until the end of 2005 that the German arm of the "Global Islamic Media Front" (GIMF), which saw itself as the mouthpiece for all jihadists worldwide, emerged.

The German offshoot of GIMF was founded by Mohamed Mahmoud, an Austrian with Egyptian roots. In addition to Cuspert, Mahmoud is still one of the most colorful figures in the German Islamist community. Mahmoud quickly attracted the attention of authorities when he began spreading al-Qaida propaganda on the Internet in 2005.

After GIMF posted a video in March 2007 threatening possible attacks in Germany and Austria, Mahmoud and his wife were arrested. Because he had used his own computer to place the video on the Internet, all Austrian authorities had to do was establish the connection between Mahmoud and the computer's IP address.

After his release in September of last year, Mahmoud quickly joined his new friend Cuspert in Berlin. Soon thereafter, the two men went to the western German city of Solingen, where Mahmoud transformed the Millatu Ibrahim Mosque into a nationally known meeting place for Salafists.

But the Internet remained far more important than the mosque. Mahmoud, Cuspert and their supporters have set up sophisticated websites. "Especially noteworthy are the high degree of technical professionalism and the targeted use of elements of current youth culture," the SWP study, published on Wednesday, concludes.

According to the study, shutting down the websites and arresting the people behind them will hardly curb the growing number of Salafists in Germany. On the contrary, Mahmoud only developed into "a star in the scene" as a result of having spent time in prison. After the federal government banned Mahmoud's Millatu Ibrahim group in June, its website was shut down, but new blogs and sites soon popped up to spread the same messages.

Mahmoud, Cuspert and their cohorts depend on these sites to stay in touch with their supporters in Germany. In the wake of the Millatu Ibrahim ban and growing police pressure on the Salafists following bloody clashes at a rally in Cologne, Mahmoud and Cuspert, together with many other key figures in the German Islamist community, have disappeared and have presumably fled to Egypt.

Cuspert made another Internet appearance in September, with threats of attacks in Germany. "You spend millions and billions for the war against Islam," he said in a video. "And that's why this country, the Federal Republic of Germany, is a war zone."...

NYC MAYOR BLOOMBERG SAYS UP TO 40,000 MAY NEED RELOCATION

NEW YORKShivering victims of Superstorm Sandy went to church Sunday to pray for deliverance as cold weather settling in across the New York metropolitan region — and another powerful storm forecast for the middle of the week — added to their misfortunes and deepened the gloom.

With overnight temperatures sinking into the 30s and hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses still without electricity six days after Sandy howled through, people piled on layers of clothes, and New York City officials handed out blankets and urged victims to go to overnight shelters or daytime warming centers.

At the same time, government leaders began to grapple with a daunting longer-term problem: where to find housing for the tens of thousands of people whose homes could be uninhabitable for weeks or months because of a combination of storm damage and cold weather.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said 30,000 to 40,000 New Yorkers may need to be relocated — a monumental task in a city where housing is scarce and expensive — though he said that number would probably drop to 20,000 within a couple of weeks as power is restored in more places.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on Sunday federal agencies are looking for apartments and hotel rooms for people displaced by Superstorm Sandy, Reuters reports.

"Our goal is to try to get people out of the shelters," Napolitano said at a news conference in New Jersey with Governor Chris Christie.

In a heavily flooded Staten Island neighborhood, Sara Zavala spent the night under two blankets and layers of clothing because the power was out. She had a propane heater but turned it on for only a couple of hours in the morning. She did not want to sleep with it running at night.

"When I woke up, I was like, `It's freezing.' And I thought, `This can't go on too much longer,"' said Zavala, a nursing home admissions coordinator.

Jersey shore communities frozen in time by Sandy

Nearly a week after Sandy slammed into the New Jersey coastline in an assault that killed more than 100 people in 10 states, gasoline shortages persisted across the region, though odd-even rationing got under way in northern New Jersey in an echo of the gas crisis of the 1970s. More than 900,000 homes and businesses were still without power in New Jersey, and nearly 700,000 in New York City, its northern suburbs and Long Island.

With more subways running and most city schools reopening on Monday, large swaths of the city were getting back to something resembling normal. But the week could bring new challenges, namely an Election Day without power in hundreds of polling places, and a nor'easter expected hit by Wednesday, with the potential for 55 mph gusts and more beach erosion, flooding and rain.

"Well, the first storm flooded me out, and my landlord tells me there's a big crack in the ceiling, so I guess there's a chance this storm could do more damage," John Lewis said at a shelter in New Rochelle, N.Y. "I was hoping to get back in there sooner rather than later, but it doesn't look good."

Voting machines in hundreds of locations will be operating on generator power, some polling stations are being moved and there are likely to be delays in reporting election results in a few closely contested races because of extended deadlines for counting ballots cast by mail.

Churchgoers packed the pews Sunday in parkas, scarves and boots and looked for solace in faith.

At the chilly Church of St. Rose in Belmar, N.J., its streets still slippery with foul-smelling mud, Roman Catholic Bishop David O'Connell said he had no good answer for why God would allow such destruction. But he assured parishioners: "There's more good, and there's more joy, and there's more happiness in life than there is the opposite. And it will be back."

Horrors of Sandy on Staten Island

In the heart of the Staten Island disaster zone, the Rev. Steve Martino of Movement Church headed a volunteer effort that had scores of people delivering supplies in grocery carts and cleaning out ruined homes. Around midday, the work stopped, and volunteer and victim alike bowed their heads in prayer.

In the crowd was Stacie Piacentino. After a singularly difficult week, she said, "it's good to feel God again."

After the abrupt cancellation of Sunday's New York City Marathon, some of those who had been planning to run the 26.2-mile race through the city streets instead volunteered their time, handing out toothbrushes, batteries, sweatshirts and other supplies on Staten Island.

Thousands of other athletes from around the world ran anyway inside Central Park, where a little more than four laps around it amounted to a marathon. "A lot of people just want to finish what they've started," said Lance Svendsen, organizer of a group called Run Anyway.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said New York state is facing "a massive, massive housing problem" for those whose neighborhoods or buildings are in such bad shape that they won't have power for weeks or months.

"I don't know that anybody has ever taken this number of people and found housing for them overnight," Bloomberg said. "We don't have a lot of empty housing in this city," he added. "We're not going to let anybody go sleeping in the streets. ... But it's a challenge, and we're working on it."

The mayor and the governor gave no details of where and how the victims might be housed.

After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita smashed the Gulf Coast in 2005, hundreds of thousands of victims were put up by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in trailers, hotels, cruise ships and apartments across several states for months and even years.

George W. Contreras, associate director of the emergency and disaster management program at Metropolitan College of New York, speculated that large encampments of trailers might be set up at a stadium, in a park or in some other open space in the city — something he couldn't recall being done in New York ever before.

"The amount of actual units the city might have in buildings is probably very limited, so I think people will be in FEMA shelters for a while," he said.

Superstorm Sandy brings climate change back into focus

On a basketball court flanked by powerless apartment buildings in the Far Rockaway section of Queens, volunteers for the city handed out bagels, diapers, water, blankets and other necessities. Genice Josey stuffed a blanket into a garbage bag.

"Nights are the worst because you feel like you're outside when you're inside," said Josey, who sleeps under three blankets and wears longjohns under her pajamas. "You shiver yourself to sleep." She added: "It's like we're going back to barbaric times where we had to go find food and clothing and shelter."

On Staten Island, emergency management officials distributed leaflets urging people to take shelter from the cold. But "people are apprehensive and don't want to leave their houses. It's a definite problem," said Fred Melendez, who helped run a shelter at Tottenville High School that was nearly empty of storm victims Sunday afternoon.

Fearing looters, Nick Veros and his relatives were hoping to hold out in their storm-damaged Staten Island home until power was restored. He figured the indoor temperature would plunge into the 40s.

"If we get two consecutive below-freezing days, I'm probably going to have to drain the water out of the pipes," he said, "and then we'll have to get out of the house."

To help victims of Sandy, donations to the American Red Cross can be made by visiting Red Cross disaster relief, or you can text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. You can also make a donation to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City by visiting here. = Red Cross is affiliate with Caritas Internationalis and we saw over the year that the money dosen't go to help the victims.

GANGS PLAN HURRICANE LOOTING SPREE VIA TWITTER

MONSTERS OF ANARCHY POST COLLAPSE SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS

VIDEO : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vg7tqL983s&feature=g-hist

New York National Guard to “protect against looting”

Scores of Twitter users have flooded the social networking site announcing their plans to go on looting sprees once Hurricane Sandy makes landfall, as the New York National Guard announced it would put troops on duty in Long Island to prevent such activity.

1,175 New York National Guard troops have been mobilized to “provide command and control and logistical support” in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley and the Southern Tier. According to NBC New York, the troops will also be on hand to “protect against looting.”

They might well be needed given the fact that a deluge of Twitter users are using the website to appeal to others to join them in exploiting the chaos generated by the superstorm to ransack stores.

Given the recent phenomenon of “flash mob robberies,” where groups of people arrange to burgle a store en masse in order to overwhelm security and staff, the tweets should be taken seriously. Last year police warned that flash mob robberies, organized mainly through Twitter, were on the rise.

“Of 129 retailers surveyed by the National Retail Federation, nearly 95 percent said they were victimized by organized criminals in the past year and 85 percent said the problem has worsened over the past three years,” reports Fox News.

In addition, much of the rioting and looting which rocked England last year was also incited, organized and coordinated via Twitter. At one point, Prime Minister David Cameron considered slapping a ban on the social network.

Examples of tweets from individuals planning to go on looting sprees include the following;

“Bout to do some looting when this hurricane finally hits….gonna get a new laptop and tv…this hurricane might be the best thing to happen.” (SOURCE)
“If this hurricane gets real bad I’m looting stores ! i always wanted to do that.” (SOURCE)

“I’m gonna go looting once this hurricane hits Utica.” (SOURCE)
“Has #HurricaneSandy made landfall yet? My bitch ass is ready to go looting!” (SOURCE)

“helllll yeah I’m gonna go looting after the storm hits.” (SOURCE)
“Who wants to go looting with me when Sandy hits?! I need some new shit! (SOURCE)

Read more examples below.

Many of the tweets are written in such a way as to suggest that looting under such circumstances is justifiable. None of the tweets express any concern at a law enforcement or National Guard response.

Looters habitually hijack hurricanes and other extreme weather events to carry out their criminal acts. During Hurricane Katrina, the practice became so commonplace that police officers were ordered not to stop citizens from ransacking stores. Police were also caught on camera looting a Wal-Mart store but got away with it by claiming “they had received permission from superiors to take necessities for themselves and other officers.”

Looters also pillaged abandoned houses during Hurricane Irene, despite a threat by New York Mayor Bloomberg that they would be put in internment camps.
Commentators are already expressing fears that widespread looting is almost inevitable when the “Frankenstorm” hits later tonight.

“It’s all anecdotal at this point, but if crime reports following hurricanes Katrina and Irene are any indication, the East Coast is in for a crime wave, post-Sandy,” writes Business Insider’s Abby Rogers.

As we reported last week, supporters of Barack Obama are also flooding Twitter with threats to riot and stoke racial violence if Mitt Romney wins the election.

The threats prompted the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service to announce that they were monitoring the situation. The Secret Service also encouraged other Twitter users to “self police” the social media website and report offensive tweets directly to the agency.

IRAN OFFERS TO SEND EMERGENCY AID TEAM TO STRICKEN NEW YORK

By THOMAS ERDBRINK ublished: October 31, 2012

No thank's. We have enough problem with our own government. We don't need help from a country who wants to kill jews, christians and infidels.

TEHRAN — Iranian rescuers and aid workers are on standby to fly to New York City to provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy, the head of Iran’s Red Crescent Organization said on Wednesday.

Hurricane Sandy

“We are ready to help the flood-stricken people of America,” Mahmud Mozaffar, who leads the organization, told the semiofficial Fars News Agency.

His men stand ready to board planes and fly to the United States to help out, assuming the American government accepts Iran’s offer, he said.

“If American authorities agree, we can send our rescuers with equipment and tools to American cities in the shortest period of time,” Mr. Mozaffar said.

Mark C. Toner, a spokesman for the State Department, said in an email message late Wednesday, “We have seen reports in the media, but at this time have received no official offer of assistance from the Iranian government or any Iranian entity.”

Dealing regularly with floods and earthquakes, Iran’s Red Crescent Organization is experienced in providing immediate assistance following disasters. But the organization, the Islamic version of the Red Cross, is closely affiliated with Iran’s government.

According to documents disclosed by WikiLeaks, American officials suspect that some Red Crescent employees operate as spies when providing help in other countries.

The United States and Iran have not had diplomatic relations since the aftermath of the 1979 hostage taking of the United States Embassy in Tehran, but natural disasters have sometimes been a way of engaging in direct communication, beyond politics.

In 2003, the United States sent a C-130 military transport plane with a rescue team and an ambulance to the southeast Iranian city of Bam where 25,000 people died in a devastating earthquake, and in August the United States offered to do the same when more than 300 people were killed in two deadly earthquakes in the northwestern part of the country.

While Iranian authorities turned down the most recent offer, the United States Treasury Department temporarily lifted sanction restrictions to allow charities to send goods and money to the stricken area.

In June 2010, Iran’s Foreign Ministry and the Revolutionary Guards Corps said they were ready to help out the United States in controlling the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

NETANYAHU REPORTEDLY BACKED OFF PREPS FOR IRAN STRIKE IN 2010 AMID RIFT WITH ISRAEL'S MILITARY

CBS/AP/ November 6, 2012, 5:55 AM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shows an illustration as he describes his concerns over Iran's nuclear ambitions during his address to the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly at U.N. headquarters Sept. 27, 2012. / AP

JERUSALEM Israel's prime minister ordered the military to go on high alert for a looming attack on Iran's nuclear program two years ago, but backed off following strong objections from senior security officials, a respected Israeli news program reported Monday.

The report exposed a deep rift between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his top security officials over the wisdom of attacking Iran but also indicated that Israel was much closer to carrying out a strike at that time than was previously known.

In an interview for the program, Netanyahu also returned to the go-it-alone rhetoric regarding the possibility of a unilateral strike on Iran which he had seemed to abandon since the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Speaking to Channel 2 TV's flagship investigative program "Uvda," or "Fact," Netanyahu did not address the alleged 2010 incident but dismissed any questioning of his resolve.

When asked if he was ready to push the button, he said: "Of course I am, if I have to, I just hope I don't have to."

In stronger language that he typically uses, Netanyahu said Iran was progressing in its quest for a nuclear bomb in order to destroy Israel. He pledged that as long as he is prime minister, he will not allow that to happen.

"We are serious, this is not a show," he said. "If there is no other way to stop Iran, Israel is ready to act."

Iran's nuclear capability a hot campaign issue
The ramped up rhetoric from Netanyahu emerged hours before Americans took to the polls to chose a leader for the coming four years, and hours after the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog agency said Iran was still not cooperating with attempts by the international community to monitor the nuclear work.

"Iran is not providing the necessary cooperation to enable us to provide credible assurance about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities," Yukio Amano told the U.N. General Assembly on Monday.

Uvda reported that toward the end of a meeting in 2010 Netanyahu and his defense minister, Ehud Barak, ordered Israel's military chief and director of the Mossad espionage agency to put the country on "P Plus" status — code for pre-attack mode on Iran.

The report said the officials were shocked. Then-military chief Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi warned that Israel's enemies would notice the measure, which might touch off a war. "This is not something you do if you are not sure you will ultimately want to carry it out," he was quoted by unidentified close associates as saying. "This accordion produces music when you play with it."

Meir Dagan, the Mossad chief at the time, was even blunter, telling the leaders that without seeking formal approval from Netanyahu's Security Cabinet, a decision-making body of government ministers, they were "taking an illegal decision."

"The prime minister and defense minister simply tried to steal a decision to go to war," he was quoted by Uvda as saying. Dagan did not appear on camera, and Uvda attributed his remarks to his "associates."

Could Israel successfully attack Iran?

Why ex-Mossad chief is speaking out
In a rare interview earlier this year with "60 Minutes" correspondent Lesley Stahl, Dagan spoke out against a preemptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities, at least anytime soon.

Dagan, who has spoken vehemently against Israel's current leaders -- even dubbing them warmongers -- said he believed the Iranian regime was a rational one and even its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has called for Israel to be annihilated, acts in a somewhat rational way when it comes to Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Israel considers a nuclear-armed Iran to be an existential threat, citing Iranian denials of the Holocaust, its calls for Israel's destruction, its development of missiles capable of striking the Jewish state and its support for hostile Arab militant groups. Tehran says its nuclear program is peaceful and designed to produce energy and medical isotopes, a claim that Israel and many Western countries reject.

Dagan, who stepped down as Mossad chief in 2010, is believed to be the mastermind of Israeli efforts to sabotage the Iranian project. The Mossad is suspected of infiltrating deep into Iran, spreading viruses and assassinating nuclear scientists.

Netanyahu has repeatedly said the threat of force must be seriously considered should economic sanctions fail. He recently warned that the world has until next summer at the latest to keep Iran from building a bomb. But analysts have debated whether the Israeli leader would really be willing to order the strike.

Monday's report provided the strongest evidence to date that Netanyahu is prepared to attack, a move that could have dire, far-reaching consequences for the region.

The program aired almost two months after Netanyahu laid out before the U.N. General Assembly his most detailed plea for global action against Iran.

In his speech, the Israeli leader demonstratively flashed a diagram of a cartoon-like bomb showing the progress Iran has made, pulled out a red marker and drew a line across what he said was a threshold Iran was approaching and which Israel could not tolerate — 90 percent of the way to the uranium enrichment needed to make an atomic bomb.

Israel has systematically built up its military specifically for a possible strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. It has sent its air force on long-distance training missions, procured American-made "bunker-busting" bombs and bolstered its missile defenses.

Still, an attack on Iran would not be easy. Probable targets, including the Natanz and Fordo enrichment facilities south of Tehran, lie some 1,000 miles from Israel.

Experts believe some of the Israeli warplanes could not make the round trip without refueling in flight. Israel, which has eight tanker planes, can refuel an airplane in flight in a matter of minutes, though it's unclear where the task would take place since much of the airspace in the region is hostile. They would also have to contend with Iranian air defense systems.

A pre-emptive Israeli strike would almost certainly draw a fierce Iranian retaliation toward Israeli population centers. Iranian leaders have even suggested they may strike Israel if they felt threatened by the possibility of an Israeli strike.

Iranian officials did not immediately comment on the Israeli report. But in a newspaper interview on Sunday, Iran's foreign minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, dismissed Israel's capabilities.

"Let them try it if they can — if Israel was ready to strike Iran it would have happened by now," he told the Qatari newspaper Al-Waten on Sunday. "We may suffer from this attack, but the Israelis are afraid of the results of such an attack. We won't sit idly by if it happens."

The revelations come ahead of a charged Israeli election season and highlight a broad range of rifts among Israeli leaders and officials.

At the meeting in 2010, Barak said Ashkenazi told him the military wasn't able to carry out the attack. "Ultimately, at the moment of truth, the answer given was that the ability didn't exist," Barak told Uvda.

But Ashkenazi denies that. He was quoted by the close associates as saying he instead told Barak that the military had prepared a viable option and was ready to carry it out but that such a mission would be a strategic mistake.

Barak countered that offering such an assessment was not Ashkenazi's job.

"A chief of staff needs to build the operational capacity. He should tell us professionally if we can operate or not and he can and should give his recommendation, but an operation can go through even if he opposes it," Barak said.

Barak said the alert was part of Israeli preparations and that a final decision to attack was never made.

It was unclear to what extent the opposition of the security officials contributed to the decision to hold back. The positions of their successors are less clear, though they too are believed to be wary of a military option. Nevertheless, Israeli security officials say that over the past two years the Israeli military's capabilities have improved to overcome some obstacles that were previously in place.

Netanyahu told the program that that the ultimate responsibility for protecting Israel was on his shoulders.

"Any prime minister of Israel who cannot act on things that are cardinal to the existence of the state, to ensuring its future and safety and is dependent on the agreement of others, is not worthy of leading," he said, adding that before Israel was a state it had to beg for help from others when threatened with destruction.

"Well today we do not beg, we prepare," he said.

According to websites associated with the Fatah movement, Hamas is planning to carry out suicide attacks against Israel from Judea and Samaria, in order to bring down the wrath of the IDF on the Arabs in that region and topple the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority there.

The websites have published a document summarizing the contents of a meeting allegedly held early this year by top Hamas officials, in which the plan is finalized. There has been no independent verification of the document's authenticity.

According to the document, the meeting was attended by top Hamas officials Halil al-Haya and Mahmoud Zahar, as well as the commanders of the Izzedine al-Kassam "military wing" of Hamas.

It was decided that weapons would be sent into Judea and Samaria through Sinai in order to carry out deadly attacks against Israel, with the cooperation of other terror groups. The purpose of the attacks would be to weaken the PA and bring about its fall, when Israel responds militarily to the attacks.

In addition, according to the unconfirmed document, preparations were begun to dig a tunnel for abduction of an IDF soldier, supposedly to be carried out if Israel attacks Gaza.

THOUSANDS OF SHOCKING THREATS OF VIOLENCE BY OBAMA SUPPORTERS ON THE EVE OF THE ELECTION

By Michael, on November 5th, 2012

On social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook, thousands of threats of violence were posted by supporters of Barack Obama on the evening prior to the election.

If you doubt this, just go on Twitter and do a search for keywords such as "Romney riot", "assassinate Romney" and "if Romney wins". We have seen very serious threats of violence against Mitt Romney and his supporters for weeks, but little action has been taken to shut these threats of violence down, and now they are reaching a crescendo as we reach election day.

At the moment, law enforcement authorities and the mainstream media do not appear to be taking these threats of violence very seriously, but they should. Just look at what happened when the San Francisco Giants won the World Series.

Horrible rioting broke out in San Francisco and a city bus was even set on fire.

But that little bit of rioting is nothing compared to what could happen on a nationwide basis if Mitt Romney wins this election - especially if there are allegations that Romney stole the campaign. If Romney is victorious, expect to see allegations of "voter fraud" and "election fraud" from the other side. If there is a belief that the Republicans "cheated" (whether true or not), this would provide all of the justification that those out committing violence would need. Many of them would actually consider themselves to be "standing up for democracy" or "fighting for their rights". Hopefully the scenario that I just outlined will not play out. Hopefully Obama supporters will be calm if Romney is declared the winner.

But we would be very foolish to ignore the thousands upon thousands of threats that we have seen over the past few weeks.

This is a topic I have written about before, and I received quite a bit of criticism for writing about it. Apparently supporters of Barack Obama should be allowed to endlessly spew out threats of physical violence against Mitt Romney and his supporters and nobody is ever supposed to say anything about it.

Yes, there are a lot of Republicans that are saying some very cruel things about Barack Obama, but people know that if you make a physical threat against Barack Obama you are likely to get a visit from the Secret Service.

Apparently the same thing does not apply to threats against Mitt Romney. Every single hour, large numbers of physical threats directed at him and his supporters continue to pour in. If these people mean just a small fraction of what they are saying, we are going to see American cities burn if Romney wins.

Most of the examples that I could have included below I decided not to post because of the vulgar language used. A lot of children will end up reading this, and so I decided to try to keep it as clean as possible.

The following are just a few examples of some of the "cleaner" threats of physical violence and rioting that have been posted on Twitter just tonight...

If obama doesn not win im gonna go burn down every house who has mitt romney signs outside their house! (Link)

If mitt Romney win tomorrow, point blank, we might just start a riot ! # Team Obama tho, so I got faith in our president. (Link)

If Romney wins, we gona start a riot (Link)

if Obama wins i will burn every romney sign in breezewood! (Link)

I always wanted to be in a Riot , and if Romney wins my dream might come true. (Link)

If Mitt Romney wins; I might go around blowing heads off (Link)

RT @Ska_Supernova: If romney win imma start a riot! (Link)

Lol but if you go for Mitt Romney i'm not going to burn you alive because that's whatever you believe in. I'm #teamobama tho (Link)

Romney better start digging his grave cuz if he become president somebody might assassinate him..ALL BLACKS AND MIDDLE CLASS GONE TURN UP!!! (Link)

I would personally assassinate Mitt Romney if he wins... but I think Al Qaeda will beat me too it! (Link)

If Romney gets elected I'm going to burn down the White House so he doesn't have a home (Link)

Trust me, it gets a lot worse than what you just read. You can see more threats against Romney and his supporters from recent days in this article right here. But please be warned, some of the language used is quite shocking.

Of course many in the mainstream media insist that we don't even have to worry about what might happen if Romney wins because Obama "has it all locked up".
For example, as I am writing this Nate Silver of the New York Times is projecting that Barack Obama has a 92.2% chance of winning the election.

Other publications are expressing similar sentiments. An article on Business Insider today had the following headline: "Either The Polls Are All Wrong, Or Mitt Romney Doesn't Really Have A Viable Path To Win The Election".

I honestly don't know how people get paid to write that kind of stuff. This election is super close and it has been for months. According to the latest Gallup tracking poll, Mitt Romney has a one point lead over Barack Obama with likely voters. A lot of people on both sides are proclaiming that it will be a landslide for their guy, but I simply do not see it that way.

This is going to be close. In fact, we may not have a winner on Tuesday night. In fact, if it goes into the courts we may not have a winner for weeks.

We could very easily end up with another Bush v. Gore scenario. Only this time it might tear the entire nation apart. Obama and Romney both have hordes of lawyers ready to roll, and neither of them would hesitate to contest the results of the election if there is still a realistic chance of winning.

The funny thing is that it really does not matter that much which candidate wins anyway. Our nation has been going downhill for decades no matter who has been in the White House, and it will continue to go downhill under either Obama or Romney. When you take a very close look at their policy positions, they actually agree far more than they disagree, and no matter who wins this race the next four years are going to be worse for America than the last four years have been.

But like so many millions of other Americans, I find election night to be absolutely fascinating. So I will be glued to my television just like so many other Americans will be.

And I think that a number of states will end up being much closer than most people originally thought that they would be.

For example, I believe that Romney has a very real shot of winning Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. I am not predicting that he definitely will win those states, but he does have a legitimate chance.

Romney might even make things interesting in Minnesota, although that is more of a long shot.

It should be very interesting to see how it all plays out.

Many Americans are happy that this election season will soon be over, but unfortunately this election should not really be viewed as the end of something.

Rather, I believe that it will be the beginning of a disturbing new chapter in American history.

A whole host of polls and surveys have shown that the American people are angrier today than just about at any other point since World War II. In recent months, this anger and frustration have been bottled up as people have waited for election day. Right now, true believers on both the red team and the blue team are optimistic about the future because they are totally convinced that they are going to win this election.

But when a winner is finally announced, close to half the country is immediately going to be bitterly disappointed. And then when things continue to get worse in this country despite "their guy" winning, the winning side is not going to be so pleased either.

This election could end up being the "release point" for a lot of the anger and frustration that have been building up in this country for a very long time. You can almost feel the tension in the air. All it is going to take is just the right "spark" to set it off.

If you have any political signs in your yard or any political bumper stickers on your car, you might want to start taking them down - especially if you live in a densely populated area. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail, but I wouldn't count on it. There is just so much hate and anger out there right now.

So pray for peace, but also watch your back.

NY, NJ RESIDENTS ARMING WITH ANYTHING THEY CAN FIND - SHOTGUNS, BOWS, BATS, MACHETES

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

An extremely volatile situation in New York and New Jersey following the devastation of superstorm Sandy is getting worse by the day, with civil society deteriorating so rapidly that residents are arming themselves with anything and everything they can, including shotguns, baseball bats, machetes - even bows and arrows.

With looting getting worse and authorities stretched thin, "hardened New Yorkers are ready to battle lowlife criminals to protect their homes and stores in storm-ravaged areas" hit hard by break-ins and pilfering, the New York Post reported.

Residents in Staten Island, Coney Island and other boroughs are complaining that they have been forgotten by emergency responders and city authorities, as evidenced by the dramatic rise in criminal activity. That has forced residents in the most beleaguered parts of the city to load up guns, sharpen machetes, and brandish a host of other weapons as a show of force against predators.

One resident, Jacinto Gonzalez, 42, armed himself with a baseball bat and stood guard outside his two-story rowhouse located on West 27th Street, near Neptune Avenue, with his family nearby.

Desperate residents using anything they can find as a weapon

Another Coney Island resident, Roberto Aviles, was seen brandishing a rusting, three-foot-long machete and warning that he had a gun as well. Having lived on Coney Island with his wife since 1995, Aviles said he was ready to take on criminals, singling out phony burglars who were posing as employees of the local power company, Con Edison.

"I'm prepared inside here," Aviles, 76, told the Post, showing off his machete.

A resident of the Coney Island Houses, Chris Lane, 50, assembled a small arsenal to repel looters and criminals, including a double pump action shotgun. He told the paper he had already scared off a group of thugs lurking around the hallways of his building when Sandy came roaring through the city Monday evening.

"They were roving in packs, not just one or two people. I had more than a little something, too," said Lane, referring to his weapons. "I let it be known that my floor is off-limits."

Outside a home in Long Beach, L.I., a signed summed up what weary New Yorkers were feeling: "Looters will be shot by local vet."

Another sign in a different neighborhood says, "Block protected by Smith & Wesson," a reference to the firearm maker.

"It's chaos; it's pandemonium out here," Chris Damon, a resident of the Rockaways in Queens, which continues to struggle without power or assistance, told Britain's Daily Telegraph.

"It seems like nobody has any answers," he added. "I feel like a victim of Hurricane Katrina. I never thought it could happen here in New York but it's happened."

The paper noted:

With little police presence on the storm-ravaged streets, many residents of the peninsula have been forced to take their protection into their own hands, arming themselves with guns, baseball bats and even bows and arrows to ward off thugs seeking to loot their homes.

So much for gun control...

The worsening chaos has led many New Yorkers to change their behavior in ways they never thought they would have to.

"We booby-trapped our door and keep a baseball bat beside our bed," Danielle Harris, 34, told the New York Daily News.

Keone Singlehurst, a local surfer, said he stockpiled anything he could - knives, a machete and a bow and arrow.

"I would take a looter with a boa if a felt threatened I would definitely use it," he said. "It's like the wild west. A borderline lawless situation."

Knives, machetes, bows and arrows. Do you wonder how many New Yorkers and New Jersey residents who once supported gun control laws and shunned firearms for personal protection have now changed their minds?

James Sanders, a city councilman, senses the growing frustration. He knows that what is occurring - the lack of support, the lawlessness, the growing anarchy - is waiting to boil over.

"We have an explosive mix here," he told the Daily News. "People will take matters into their own hands."

But his anger is directed at the Long Island Power Authority, the electric company serving L.I. He says the council needs to investigate why they have, as he says, ignored the Rockaways for nearly a week.

"LIPA has failed the people of the Rockaways," he said. "It's a question of class... serving the richer areas of Long Island and ignoring the Rockaways."

Really, Mr. Sanders?

Here's a question for him and his fellow councilmen that the people of their borough should be asking: "What did you do to prepare the community for the most destructive storm in many generations?" Turnabout is fair play, Mr. Sanders.

The best answer was the first answer - Be prepared

I won't let him off the hook for politicizing this disaster and pointing his finger of blame at someone else. But I will give him a little breathing room with some cold, hard truth.

The fact is there is no way that Long Island - or any of the hardest hit areas - could have ever prepared for this kind of storm.

It's not logistically possible. It's not economically possible.

Cities, townships and boroughs should take a lesson from this storm and prepare as best they can for the next time - perhaps stockpile food, water, gasoline at underground locations - but there will never be enough resources to fully prepare for storms of this magnitude.

So the best solution is the one Natural News has been advising for years: Personal preparedness. And even then, people need to have a Plan B - as in, what happens if I lose my house and all the preparation stuff I have in it? Where will I go then? What will I do?

Too many people in Sandy's wake who thought they were prepared did not have a Plan B. Now they are suffering like the rest.

Those of us who are warm and dry right now need to be paying particular attention to the worsening situation in New York and New Jersey and learning from it - before it happens to us and we are thrown into a similar situation.

Especially if you live in a big city.

Hardened New Yorkers are ready to battle lowlife criminals to protect their homes and stores in storm-ravaged areas plagued by looting and break-ins.

In Coney Island, several residents were loading up their guns, sharpening their machetes and brandishing other deadly weapons.
Jacinto Gonzalez, 42, picked up a baseball bat and stood guard outside his two-story rowhouse on West 27th Street near Neptune Avenue with his family.

Another Coney Island resident, Roberto Aviles, brandishing a rusty 3-foot machete and warning he has a gun, who has lived in Coney Island since 1995 with his wife, says he’s ready to take on phony burglars posing as Con Ed workers.

“I’m prepared inside here,” the 76-year-old Aviles said, showing off his rusted, three-foot machete and warning he had a gun.

Chris Lane, a 50-year-old resident of the Coney Island Houses, put together a small arsenal with his double pump action gun.

Lane said he scared off a bunch of thugs skulking around the hallways of his building when the storm struck Monday night.

“They were roving in packs, not just one or two people. I had more than a little something, too,” Lane said, referring to his weapons. “I let it be known that my floor is off limits.”

A sign outside a home in Long Beach, LI, summed it all up for storm weary New Yorkers. It read, “Looters will be shot by local vet.”

SANDY REFUGEES COMPLAIN OF PRISON-LIKE CONDITIONS AT FEMA TENT CAMP

Residents of New Jersey, whose homes were ravaged by superstorm Sandy and are now having to endure yet another wintery storm, are revealing through first-hand accounts that at least one tent camp FEMA is providing more strongly resembles a prison.

Photos taken by Brian Sotelo of the tent city set up at Monmouth Park in Oceanport by FEMA for victims of Sandy.

According to the Asbury Park Press, some displaced New Jersey residents have had to relocate to FEMA tent camps in the northeastern part of the state in efforts to secure better shelter, running hot water and washing machines, but members of at least one camp are saying that none of what was promised is available.

“At (Pine Belt) the Red Cross made an announcement that they were sending us to permanent structures up here that had just been redone, that had washing machines and hot showers and steady electric, and they sent us to tent city. We got (expletive),” distraught Oceanport camp resident Brian Sotelo said.

As if adding insult to injury, the camp is referred to as “Camp Freedom,” however, Sotelo says camp residents feel more like they’re imprisoned: “Everybody is angry over here. It’s like being prison [sic].”

As no media is allowed beyond the fences of the camp, what little news has managed to escape the area is disturbing. Angered residents are revealing that they are intentionally being kept quiet, being denied electricity to charge their phones and suspect surveillance by roving vehicle patrols.

Sotelo also noted that several members of the camp had tried to contact the media regarding the horrendous living conditions, but were met with opposition: “After everyone started complaining and they found out we were contacting the press, they brought people in. Every time we plugged in an iPhone or something, the cops would come and unplug them.”

“As Sotelo tells it, when it became clear that the residents were less than enamored with their new accommodations Wednesday night and were letting the outside world know about it, officials tried to stop them from taking pictures, turned off the WiFi and said they couldn’t charge their smart phones because there wasn’t enough power,” reports Stephen Edelson of the Asbury Park Press.

According to Sotelo, victims are not being allowed to return to their homes, even though, as part of a relief crew, he’s driven past his own rented home several times, noting it had only sustained about a foot’s worth of water damage.

A Department of Human Services spokesperson refuted Sotelo’s claims, saying that “staff at the micro-city are providing for the needs of all the evacuees.”

Reportedly, several FEMA centers in New Jersey and Staten Island were also closed to due to the inclement weather anticipated from yesterday’s nor’easter.

Yesterday, NJ Gov. Chris Christie expressed confidence in his ability to “re-evaluate” the gas rationing system put in place about a week ago after residents were having to wait 3 to 4 hours for gas.

Today, Christie tried to salvage FEMA’s reputation and deflect negative criticism by praising utility crews and labeling the storm as the main perpetrator of all the suffering: “The villain in this case is Hurricane Sandy.”

Also today, FEMA announced that it would grant Governor Christie’s request to provide Disaster unemployment assistance to those unable to work “as a direct result of the damages caused by the storm.”

NEW YORK OFFICIALS REPORTEDLY CONSIDER CLOSED PRISON FOR DISPLACED SANDY VICTIMS

By FOX News

Officials in New York are reportedly eyeing a recently-closed prison as temporary housing for people displaced by superstorm Sandy and this week's nor'easter.

The New York Post reports that state officials are considering the Arthur Kill Correctional Facility on Staten Island to feed and house as many as 900 victims with nowhere else to turn.

"Our facilities staff have to go through it to determine what it would take to get it up and running for such a purpose," Peter Cutler, a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections, told the newspaper. "Of course, the challenge is the fact that it was closed a year ago and all of the major infrastructure components, such as boilers and wastewater system, were deactivated."

As many as 40,000 New Yorkers need shelter from extreme weather events, according to city estimates. On Staten Island alone, about 5,200 people applied for temporary FEMA housing, but only about two dozen people have been successfully placed, federal sources told the newspaper.

"It's empty. They might as well use it," said Rob Conigatti, 39, who lost his Dongan Hills home and is now staying with his extended family. "At least they have the right facilities. You can't keep them in schools. The kids gotta go to school."

REGAIN DE VIOLENCES ENTRE ISRAÉLIENS ET PALESTINIENS DANS LA BANDE DE GAZA

dimanche 11 novembre 2012

ISRAEL FIRES WARNING TAMUZ MISSILE INTO SYRIA AS GAZA FRONT ESCALATES

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Israel’s deteriorating security situation erupted simultaneously on two fronts Sunday, Nov. 11. The IDF fired a Tamuz precision guided missile against a mortar position 4 kilometers inside Syria after a stray mortar hit the IDF Golan defense post at Tel Hazaka. It was the fourth incident of cross-border violence from the Syrian conflict in 10 days and the first time Israel had fired across the Golan border since the 1973 war. The Tamuz was developed by RAFAEL and is operated from specially modified M-113 Hafiz armored personnel carriers.

At the same time, on the southern front, Palestinians fired Grad missiles from Gaza at the city of Beersheba after loosing a barrage of 60 missiles in less than 24 hours against multiple Israeli civilian locations. Iron Dome intercepted one of the missiles.

Four Israeli soldiers were wounded Saturday, two seriously by an anti-tank missile which set their jeep on fire. Four civilians were injured in their homes and hospitalized Sunday.

The shot fired at Syria was described by the IDF spokesman as a warning to Damascus, backing up the Defense Minister Ehud Barak warning last week that spillovers from the Syrian war would not be tolerated and would elicit a military response.

Israel’s military command expects the military confrontation on the Gaza front to escalate. Israel’s emergency services have been elevated to maximum C-level preparedness in the South and also further north, in case Hamas expands its rocket offensive to central Israel as well.

The Palestinian Gaza terrorist grades are now firing Multiple-Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) “Katyshas” supplied by the Lebanese Hizballah and 120-mm bunker-busting mortars in their current offensive against Israeli towns, villages and troops, Israeli lawmaker Shay Hermesh revealed Sunday, Nov. 11 after 6 civilians sere hospitalized.

The Knesset member who lives in Kfar Azza spoke after more than 60 assorted rockets hit southern Israel from Saturday. The public radio Kol Israel interrupted the interview with Hermesh at that point to prevent any more disclosures.

DEBKAfile: The civilians injured Sunday in intense rocket fire aimed at Sderot, Shear Hanegev and the Eshkol district were apparently caught by concentrated Katyusha fire rather than the hit-or-miss Qassams or Grads.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu opened the weekly cabinet session by saying: We are set to escalate our response.”

DEBKAfile reported Saturday: Violence spewed out of the Gaza Strip again Saturday night, Nov. 10, with a rocket attack on an IDF Givaty Brigade jeep on a routine task some distance from the border, injuring four Israeli soldiers – one critically, two in moderate condition. This time Hamas’ contractor was the Palestinian Popular Front. After Israeli tanks and helicopters fired back, the Palestinians fired rockets against the Eshkol and Shear Hanegev districts, followed by Grad rockets aimed at Ashkelon, Ashdod and Gan Yavneh. Iron Dome intercepted two. Locations north of Ashdod as far north as Gedera went on missile alert. No more casualties are reported thus far.

Thursday, Nov. 8, Palestinian terrorists detonated by remote a tunnel packed with explosives against a group of Israeli soldiers. None were hurt. The soldiers were searching for bombs rigged as booby-traps for use against their comrades. IDF units in the Gaza sector have been on high alert since before then as Palestinian attacks have kept on coming in an escalating spate – eight from Oct. 8 until this Saturday.

But before that, on Oct. 6, two days after an Iranian stealth drone flew over Israel, Hamas loosed its heaviest barrage ever of 60 rockets and missiles against the Eshkol district. The IDF made no response this this outrage.

On Oct. 13, after an Israeli air strike killed the jihadist Majlis Shura’s commander, Hisham Saidani, Israeli civilians in Beersheba, Netivot and other locations suffered two running days of Palestinian rocket fire on their homes.

On Oct. 19, an IDF patrol was hit by a roadside bomb near Ein Hashlosha.

For three days, Oct. 22-25, rocket salvoes descended on Ashkelon and other locations. This time, the Palestinians began firing for the first time mobile 120mm multiple-firing “Katyusha” systems. Another roadside bomb near Kissufim seriously injured a senior IDF officer, blowing off both his arms..

There was a further escalation after the Israeli bombardment of an Iranian missile plant near Khartoum, one of Hamas’ arms suppliers. On Oct. 28, Palestinian Grad missiles were again fired at Beersheba and the regional area of Dimona where Israel’s nuclear reactor is situated.

Now, once again, more than a million civilians living within the Palestinian terrorists’ ever widening radius of fire are being told to stay close to shelters – those who have them - and mayors worry about opening schools.

And once again, they hear that the Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has called an urgent conference with Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz. The people living in an area between Gedera and the southern tip of the Gaza Strip up to Beersheba wait again on tenterhooks for some action to put an end to their long agony as hostages to Hamas.

ONLY NUCLEAR STRIKE CAN DESTROY IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAM: REPORT

Western defense experts say only an Israeli nuclear strike would destroy Iran’s nuclear program, noting that a conventional strike on Iran's nuclear facilities would fail.

The Sunday Times weekly quoted the experts as saying that Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility is immune to any conventional airstrike due to its location deep underground.

Only two options are possible for Israel, according to the experts who said Israel would have either to deploy special forces or resort to ballistic missiles mounted with tactical nuclear warheads.

The experts have warned that Israel would lose 20 percent of its planes in case of a conventional airstrike on Iran.
On November 4, a Ynetnews report revealed that a planned Israeli strike against Iran in 2010 was thwarted due to Tel Aviv’s qualms about its own military capabilities as well as top-echelon internal opposition against the measure.

The report by prominent investigative journalist Ilana Dayan on an Israeli news channel said at a 2010 meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister for Military Affairs Ehud Barak and a small circle of top ministers, the premier asked the Israeli military to prepare for an imminent strike on Iran’s nuclear energy facilities.

Tel Aviv has repeatedly threatened Iran with a military strike, saying that Tehran is seeking to produce a nuclear bomb, a claim Iran has vehemently rejected.
