David’s Sling officially began operational deployment in ceremonies held on Sunday at the Hatzor Airbase.

"Whoever seeks to hit us will be hit. Whoever threatens our existence places himself in existential danger," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The system is a joint project between Israel’s Rafael and the US’ Raytheon, and Netanyahu explained the importance of David’s Sling in defending Tel Aviv against missile and rocket threats, saying, "We have pioneering technology here and Israel continues to lead the world in this field."

He added, "The David's Sling system joins our previous technological developments such as the Iron Dome and the Arrow systems…Together they will protect Israel, its citizens and its cities," according to Jerusalem Online.

David’s Sling is the most recent addition to Israel’s four-layered active defense network designed for the interception of long-range rockets and short-range ballistic missiles. Utilizing the same multimission radar Elta Systems developed for Iron Dome, the system helps connect the higher intercepting layers provided by the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 systems to the lower intercepting Iron Dome.

The two-stage, maneuverable Stunner missile uses impact to destroy targets, as opposed to the Iron Dome’s Tamir intercepting missile, which is a blast warhead.

Such a system had to be developed to adequately address the "unstable and indecisive Middle East" situation, according to Israeli Air Force commander Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel.

Last month the system began being delivered to the Israeli Air Force and in the coming months is expected to continue expansion, with future version set to include attack drone and cruise missiles.

In his remarks, Avigdor Liberman, Israel’s Defense Minister, said the united "intellectual capabilities" of both Israel and the US helped the projects realize its purpose for securing the Middle Eastern nation.

He said, "Today we are finally seeing the operationalization of the system; a system that has no substitute and cannot be bought in any place in the world. This is, of course, combined with intellectual capabilities of ours and of our friends in the United States, and because of this combination we are able to answer whomever is trying to harm us," according to Defense News.

In 2004, the Maine-based Raytheon was chosen to serve as subcontractor over a bid from Boeing by the Israeli Defense Ministry, and at the time was known as the Short-Range Ballistic Missile Defense. This was done to differentiate what would later become David’s Sling with the Israel-US Arrow, which is designed to intercept longer-range missiles.

"SPEED-TO-FLEET" ANSWERED THE CALL : MISSILES ON-TARGET "SKIN TO SKIN"

Story Number: NNS170403-12Release Date: 4/3/2017 9:22:00 AM

By U.S. 6th Fleet Public Affairs

GULF OF CADIZ, Spain (NNS) -- Donald Cook and Ross each successfully intercepted anti-ship cruise missile target drones with live missiles fired from the ships' new SeaRAM close-in weapons systems.

These two ships join USS Porter and USS Carney as the SeaRAM-capable ships ready to counter any threat thanks to this upgrade in self-defense technology. Porter and Carney previously conducted successful live-fire SeaRAM missile exercises on March 2016, and July 2016, respectively.

As part of the Navy's "Speed to Fleet" program, the SeaRAM self-defense missile system was rapidly fielded to the four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers that are forward deployed to Rota, Spain. In combination with the ship's Aegis Weapons System, the SeaRAM system provides enhanced point defense for these ships by combining components of the proven Phalanx close-in weapon system with the capabilities of the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM).

In less than two years, the Navy was able to provide all four ships deployed to Rota with this modernization, enhancing their existing capability to counter modern anti-ship cruise missiles.

Through the work of the Navy's program executive officer for integrated warfare systems, each of these ships were able to receive the system on time, on budget, and ready to operate.

This program started in 2015 with the initiative of the Navy Staff, Surface Warfare Directorate (OPNAV N96), the Department of Navy Budget Office (FMB), and the support of a congressional reprogramming of funds from within the Navy's existing budget.

Through this "Speed to Fleet" program, the Navy has modernized and improved warships to meet the ever-changing anti-ship cruise missile threats throughout the European theatre of operations.

"This game-changing technology continues to ensure our ability for these multi-mission ships to steam into harm's way as required anywhere in this theater in support of U.S. national interests, and in support of our allies and partners. These ships patrol throughout this theater with an array of the most-capable weapons in the world; we put the concept of 'distributed lethality' to work in this pivotal region every day," said Capt. Tate Westbrook, commander, Task Force 65, commodore, Destroyer Squadron 60, following the successful results of this latest missile test.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.

NIMITZ STRIKE GROUP CONDUCTS STRAIT TRANSIT TRAINING EXERCISE

PACIFIC OCEAN (NNS) -- The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) participated in a show of force transit training exercise with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 11 off the coast of Southern California, March 31.

CSG 11 conducted the exercise as part of Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) to prepare for moving through narrow passageways of water during its upcoming 2017 deployment.

According to Lt. Ryan Benko, a native of Bremerton, Washington, and the Destroyer Squadron Nine (DESRON 9) lead planner, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Chafee (DDG 90), USS Howard (DDG 83), USS Pinckney (DDG 91) and USS Kidd (DDG 100), and the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59), all ships from DESRON 9, participated in the exercise with Nimitz. Helicopters were also provided from the "Wolf Pack" of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 75 and the "Eightballers" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8 from Carrier Air Wing 11.

The aim of the exercise is to help all participating Sailors from CSG 11 understand what the environment will be like as they move through straits in foreign territories.

Nimitz is a high value asset within the strike group. When the strike group transits a strait as a whole, it is in a much higher protective posture than normal. The smaller ships in the strike group act as the first level of engagement if anything out of the ordinary were to happen. The helicopters are there to be the eye in the sky and provide support.

"We are worried about the carrier, but everyone plays their part," said Senior Chief Intelligence Specialist Robert Kingston, a native of Geneva, Ohio, and the leading chief petty officer of IFX department. "Between the helicopters, the smaller ships, and the carrier there are a lot of moving pieces, and in a real strait transit there will be even more entities to incorporate."

Kingston explained that the purpose of this training exercise is to make sure that everyone understands their roles. In a real scenario the point is to document and get the first truth to the public in order to fight propaganda and stop misinformation and collect data that can be used and analyzed.

This exercise requires almost every department aboard to play a part including navigation, deck, operations, weapons, combat systems, IFX and media. They all worked together to collect information and keep a strong level of protection as the training transit occurred.

"It was pretty successful," said Kingston. "There are areas we need to work on, but every carrier coming out of the yards with a compressed training cycle is going to face some problems. I am happy with where we are at. Even with a small amount of training and a green crew, we are doing well."

Nimitz is currently underway performing COMPTUEX with the rest of CSG 11 in preparation for a 2017 deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission readiness of the strike group's assets through simulated real-world scenarios, and their ability to work together as a cohesive unit to complete the mission.

US SECRETLY DEPLOYING STRATEGIC ASSETS TO KOREA TO FREAK OUT KIM JONG-UN

Not so secret...

Ryan Pickrell
China/Asia Pacific Reporter

The U.S. is deploying strategic assets to the Korean peninsula with greater secrecy to “maximize fear in the North,” military officials revealed Sunday. The U.S. has, in recent weeks, been regularly sending bombers and fighters, aircraft carriers and submarines, and troops to the peninsula for training exercises with South Korean forces, yet the announcements concerning their deployments have been delayed, with some coming after the units had already left Korea.

“Surprise dispatch of strategic weapons is effective in maximizing fear in the North as it sends a message that such weapons can be mobilized any time in case of a contingency,” a military official told The Korea Times.

Earlier in March, two B-1B Lancers were sent to South Korea from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam. The media received no prior notification, and even afterwards, the United States Forces Korea refused to offer confirmation. The deployment was reported by the state-run Korean Central News Agency, which said that the bombers participated in drills in preparation for a possible preemptive strike on North Korea.

The nuclear-powered submarine the USS Columbus arrived in the waters off the coast of South Korea a few days after the bombers, yet the arrival announcement was belated.

Furthermore, multiple U.S. Marine Corps F-35 fighter jets participated in a bombing drill early last week, but the deployment of the fifth-gen fighters was not reported until Saturday, at which point the jets had already returned to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in Japan.

The new U.S. administration is still formulating its North Korea policy; however, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said during his recent trip to Asia that military action is “on the table.”

While the U.S. may ultimately choose to adopt a less risky policy — one focused more on sanctions and diplomatic pressure — the secret deployment of military assets to and around the Korean peninsula is certain to agitate the North Koreans. The move follows President Donald Trump’s past criticisms of U.S. statements telegraphing U.S. strategic plans to foreign rivals and adversaries.

The ongoing Foal Eagle drills in South Korea have provoked the North, leading them to test-fire multiple ballistic missiles and make numerous threats against the U.S. and its allies.

30 Mar 2017
RAMSTEIN, Germany – This May, NATO’s Air Policing in the Baltic Region will swap out lead nation at Šiauliai, Lithuania, and augmenting nation at Ämari, Estonia.

For the sixth time, the Polish Air Force will ensure the integrity of the skies over Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania providing four F-16 fighter aircraft for the standing peacetime Allied mission of Air Policing.  The jets will deploy from their home base at Poznan together with a detachment of pilots, technicians, maintainers and supply staff. The Polish jets are going to replace Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16s.

Likewise, the Spanish Air Force is preparing to deploy their F-18 fighter jets from Zaragoza Air Base in Spain to Estonia, to augment the Baltic Air Policing mission. The detachment consists of five jets and approx. 130 military operators and support staff. The F-18 will be taking over the mission at Ämari from the German Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jets which executed the mission.

NATO remains fully committed to Air Policing in the airspace of the Allies; it will maintain a robust and sustainable Baltic Air Policing mission.

NATO launched the Baltic Air Policing mission in 2004, when Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania acceded to NATO without their own Air Policing assets. Since then 17 Allies have taken turns ensuring territorial integrity in the Baltic skies. The next scheduled rotation is foreseen for the September timeframe.

GEILENKIRCHEN, Germany - On Tuesday 28 March, Major General Thierry Dupont, Commander Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) Uedem, witnessed the hard work of the flight and mission crew on board of a NATO AWACS plane.

"NATO's Air Policing mission requires close coordination between the CAOC Uedem, the Control and Reporting Centres, the Quick Reaction Alert bases and the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force at Geilenkirchen," said General Dupont.

"The way they seamlessly work together as one team is just impressive. The operators on the ground and in the air, responsible for all aspects of the mission, convey their concerted efforts to maintain 24/7 Air Policing capabilities in a huge airspace of more than 4 million square kilometers. The AWACS planes have flown more than 1000 airborne early warning missions over the territory of the eastern Allies in the frame of assurance measures - quite an achievement!" the General added.

"I am extremely proud of the continuous efforts in this long-standing peacetime Allied mission demonstrating Allied resolve, unity and solidarity," General Dupont concluded.

NATO conducts the Air Policing Mission preserving the integrity of the Alliesí airspace. CAOC Uedem in the north, and CAOC Torrejon in Spain control the mission across all NATO Allies in Europe by working with both static and airborne sensors and command and control elements to provide a consolidated Air picture.

UNITED KINGDOM TO DEPLOY JETS TO ROMANIA

RAF Typhoons will deploy to Romania to support NATO’s Southern Air Policing mission. Crown Copyright.

29 Mar 2017RAMSTEIN, Germany – The British Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon announced Monday that Royal Air Force Typhoon fast jets will deploy to Romania from May for the UK's contribution to NATO’s enhanced Air Policing mission in the Southern Region. Four Typhoon jets from RAF Coningsby will be based at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in south east Romania for up to four months, working side-by-side with the Romanian Air Force to police the skies over the Black Sea.

NATO’s enhanced Air Policing is one element of the Alliance’s Assurance Measures introduced in 2014 in response to Russia’s illegal activities in Ukraine. The goal has been to demonstrate collective resolve of Allies and NATO’s flexible capabilities and readiness.

The Romanian Air Force flies F-16 fast jets under NATO Air Policing controlled by Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) Torrejon, Spain. The British RAF Typhoons are going to augment the Romanian Air Policing assets and will conduct sorties in concert with one another.

Overseen by Allied Air Command at Ramstein, Germany, NATO Air Policing is conducted over all Allies in Europe from Northern Norway to the Azores and the eastern parts of Turkey. The mission is controlled by two CAOCs (one at Torrejon, the other at Uedem, Germany).

This important peacetime mission involves the use of the Air Surveillance and Control System (ASACS), Air Command and Control (Air C2) and appropriate air assets, so called Quick Reaction Air (Intercept) or QRA(I) fast jets. It is a fundamental component of how NATO provides security to its members.

Is the US Preparing to Invade Damascus?

As absurd as this may sound the evidence seems to stack up in favor of this scenario of a US led invasion of Damascus, Syria. The movement of US desert Camo military equipment was done in a way to avoid detection by Russia. First to Germany to make it appear as a buildup on Russia’s border, then to Poland final to a port in Romania, then reloaded at set sail to Beirut Lebanon where Damascus comes into view. All the while Israeli US Italian and UAE military work in Greece to overcome Russia s300 air defense system. Israel moves their forces into the Golan for supposed drills. All troops in position Damascus to be hit next.

Emergency response agencies planning a large-scale disaster drill around Columbus say over 500 people will be costumed to look like real victims, but there's no cause for alarm because it's only an exercise.

Organizers say the Tuesday morning drill will occur mostly at MAPFRE Stadium, though observers may also notice increased activity at John Glenn International Airport, Otterbein University and hospitals in the area. They say the fake victims will be in makeup made to look like real injuries.

The drill involves emergency response agencies from around the area, including police, firefighters, medics and hospital personnel.

US, MALAWI MILITARY PLANNERS PUT FINAL TOUCHES ON AFRICAN LAND FORCES SUMMIT 2017

African land forces chiefs gather for final planning event

By Capt. Jason Welch, U.S. Army Africa Public Affairs
Apr 04, 2017

LILONGWE - "This will put Malawi on the map," Malawi Defense Force Gen. Griffin "Spoon" Phiri said to planners during the final planning event for the African Land Forces Summit 2017, March 27.

Military planners from the U.S. and Malawi gathered here March 27-31 to finalize the details needed to support ALFS 17, scheduled to take place in May.

ALFS is an annual, weeklong seminar bringing together land force chiefs from across Africa for candid dialog to discuss and develop cooperative solutions to regional and trans-regional challenges and threats.

"This is not a small exercise," said MDF Brig. Gen. Paul Phiri, MDF chief of training.

While this is the first time Malawi will host the summit, it is not the first event cohosted by the Malawi Defense Force and the U.S. Army Africa.

In August the MDF hosted exercise Southern Accord 2016, a multinational tabletop exercise to discuss regional security challenges and enhance participants' capabilities to respond to natural disasters.

"We are all professionals. We may have very different cultures, our army cultures are different, but we are all dedicated to improving ourselves and our militaries," said U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Kenneth Moore, deputy commander for U.S. Army Africa.

Moore went on to say that one of the reasons Malawi was selected to host ALFS 17 is the MDF’s dedication to enhancing regional security and improving the professionalism of their force.

Malawi is a troop contributing country to the ongoing UN mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the MDF senior noncommissioned officer school helps to build capacity across African militaries, said Moore.

Since its inception, the Malawi Defense Force Sergeants Major Academy has accepted senior enlisted candidates from throughout southern Africa. This year, for the first time, senior noncommissioned officers from Nigeria were admitted.

The final planning event was the third in a series of planning events leading to ALFS and was the last time the U.S. and Malawi planners would meet in person to prepare for the summit. For the next month planners will continue to coordinate and refine their plans in preparation for the final event.

"It is still a planning session -- we have not closed our doors. We have most of the answers, but are open to new ideas and questions," said Spoon Phiri.

During previous events, planners worked together to prepare the overall framework to prepare logistical, communication, and security support for the summit. During the final planning event, they finalized the detailed plan for each of these areas.

"Our work this week will set the pace for the summit that will follow," said Paul Phiri.

U.S. and Malawi military planners visited each site where the summit will take place, coordinating contingency plans for each event during the summit.

The detailed planning was necessary to ensure that participants are not distracted from the summit by transportation plans, communication challenges, or routine medical incidents.

The theme for this year’s African Land Forces Summit is “Enhancing Capacity through Partnership in Africa.” Speakers from the U.S., Malawi and African partner nations will address topics such as standardizing forces and concepts, building logistics institutions, peacekeeping and peace support operations.

"With the planning that’s been conducted, I expect this to be a world class event," said Spoon Phiri.

5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OBANGAME EXPRESS 2017

Obangame Express 2017 provides African, European, South American and U.S. partner maritime forces the opportunity to work together, share information and refine tactics, techniques and procedures in order to assist Gulf of Guinea maritime nations with building capacity to monitor and enforce their territorial waters and exclusive economic zones.

By U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet Public Affairs, U.S. Africa CommandMar 20, 2017

Obangame Express puts maritime security in the hands of nations to whom it matters most. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Exercise Obangame Express is sponsored by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and designed to improve regional cooperation, maritime domain awareness (MDA), information-sharing practices, and tactical interdiction expertise to enhance the collective capabilities of Gulf of Guinea and West African nations to counter sea-based illicit activity.

2. Participating nations include Angola, Benin, Belgium, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Canada, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, France, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Morocco, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Congo, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Spain, Togo, Turkey, the United States, and the United Kingdom, as well as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

3. Obangame Express locations are throughout the Gulf of Guinea and in multiple areas at sea and ashore. At-sea operations will be conducted throughout the Gulf of Guinea. The largest footprint ashore will be in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire. Numerous MOCs will be participating from ashore across the Gulf of Guinea and West Africa along with several international organization MOCs. An Opening Ceremony will be held in Accra, Ghana, and a Closing Ceremony will be held in Abidjan.

4. Obangame Express is scheduled to take place March 20-31 and encompasses an in-port Command Post Exercise and an underway Field Training Exercise in the Gulf of Guinea.

5. Obangame Express’ purpose is to create realistic scenarios that mirror past piracy incidents whereby a hijacked vessel will transit from one territory to another. Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs) during the exercise will be challenged to recognize these illicit acts appropriately and share with other MOCs. Additionally, the exercise tests each individual maritime force to patrol their economic exclusion zones and detect and prosecute illegal activity, accordingly.

THE OLDEST FRIENDSHIP : U.S. AND MOROCCO, AND FLINTLOCK 2017

We are in the final military takeover in all countries. Only need a major false flag attack and the world is completely enslave under their global partnership of corporations/military rules. Do you see it?

This year marks the tenth iteration of Exercise Flintlock, which focuses on building partner capacity and enhancing interoperability between 24 African and Western partners training in seven partner nations.

By Maj. Nicholas Mannweiler, U.S. Marine CorpsMar 07, 2017

SOUTHERN ZONE, MOROCCO- Military representatives from the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States held an opening ceremony for Exercise Flintlock 2017, Feb. 27 aboard the Tifnit training base in Morocco’s Southern Zone area of operations.

More than 2,000 military personnel from 24 African and Western nations are participating in the tenth annual iteration of the exercise, which began Feb. 27 and concludes March 16 across seven African host nations.

The exercise, sponsored by U.S. Africa Command, strengthens security institutions, promotes multilateral sharing of information and develops interoperability between counterterrorism partners from across Africa’s Sahara region. African partner special operations forces and Special Operations Command Africa jointly plan and execute the exercise, highlighting the sense of shared purpose across the continent as partners strengthen themselves and their regional network against violent extremists. For Morocco and the U.S., the roots run deep in this partnership.

Morocco formally recognized the United States by signing a treaty of peace and friendship in 1786 between U.S. Minister Thomas Barclay and the Sultan of Morocco, Sidi Muhammad, in the legendary city of Marrakech, according to the U.S. Department of State website. The relationship matured with the naming of James Simpson as the first American consul in 1797 in Tangier. Sultan Mawlay Suleiman gifted the consulate a building and grounds to use, marking the first property owned by the U.S. government on foreign shores. In all of American history, no other country has maintained its treaty relationship with America for as long as Morocco. Flintlock 2017 is the most recent in a long line of actions and expressions of solidarity between the two nations.

“Morocco plays a key leadership role in Africa and we are honored by the continued partnership and friendship between our two countries. We look forward to working with you over the next few weeks,” said MARSOC’s exercise instructor.

Brig. Gen. Mohammed Benlouali, operations commander for Morocco’s Southern Zone, delivered remarks on behalf of the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces.

“These types of activities, as well as other joint combined Moroccan-American exercises, are a golden opportunity to further enhance the ties of military cooperation between our two countries,” said Benlouali.

“We will stand ready and willing to take maximum benefit from this period of training to further promote our knowledge and know-how in the field of special forces. For these reasons, I urge all FAR SOF company members to take advantage of this experience,” he said.

Over the course of the next few weeks, Marines from Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command will train alongside their Moroccan peers, refining tactics, techniques and procedures across multiple full mission profiles. The two forces will specifically train on small unit special operations forces tactics, weapons training and fire support, lifesaving first aid and trauma care, command and control and force protection. The shared training experiences will develop the two partners’ ability to plan, coordinate and operate as an integrated team and will strengthen the bond between the two countries. The Moroccan Royal Armed Forces have been a resolute contributor to United Nations peacekeeping missions around the world and provide a center of stability and security across the Sahel region.

The threat posed by violent extremist organizations around the world demands proficiency, coordination and enhanced interoperability in order to counter it. While regional security is the main focus of Exercise Flintlock 2017, the lessons learned and investments in relationships will allow us to share the burdens of managing conflicts and improve our ability to provide security solutions that meet threats at their origin.

In the near-vertical slopes of the eastern Himalayas, workers are blasting and cutting treacherous rock faces to build a top-priority military asset: a 34-mile road to the country’s disputed border with China.

Far away in the capital New Delhi—a six-day journey by foot, road, rail and air—Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office is monitoring their progress as he doubles down on a billion-dollar infrastructure plan in this contested region to strengthen India’s hand against its powerful neighbor.

In a statement on Friday morning, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the US missile strike violated not only international, and added that the attack “was on the brink of military clashes with Russia.”

“Instead of their much-publicized thesis about a joint fight with a common enemy, Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL], the Trump administration has proven that it will fiercely fight against the legal government of Syria,” Medvedev wrote on his Facebook page.

ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (NNS) -- U.S., U.K. and France began Exercise Alligator Dagger 17, April 5. The two-week multilateral amphibious exercise is taking place in international waters off the coast of Djibouti and in the vicinity of Djibouti and Arta Beach, April 5 - April 20.

Exercise Alligator Dagger 17, led by U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces, Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (51/5), is a multilateral amphibious exercise with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) as part of the sustainment training for ARG/MEUs in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. The Alligator Dagger Exercise iterations familiarize ARG/MEUs with the CENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR) and sharpen tactical proficiency.

Participating forces include the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), the command ship for Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 8, USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), 24th MEU, HMS Monmouth (F235), USS Ponce (AFSB(I)-15) and a detachment of the French 5th Marine Regiment.

Participants will conduct fire team, squad and platoon level live-fire ranges, vessel board search and seizure (VBSS), integrated amphibious operations, day and night time full mission profiles/long range raid and coalition integration or forces. The exercise also provides a unique opportunity to enhance multilateral capabilities in critical mission-sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps team with partners and allies in the region.

"We are excited to be participating in this dynamic exercise alongside our allies and partners," said Navy Capt. James Dunn, Deputy Commodore of Amphibious Squadron 8. "Exercises like Alligator Dagger enhance the execution of our wide range of capability, while increasing the ability of all participants to plan and oversee complex operations."

Exercise Alligator Dagger 17 is one of several training opportunities to be undertaken by Marines and Sailors during their deployment in the region. Recurring training opportunities such as this one support the professional development of U.S. forces and military-to-military relationship-development with partnering nations.

"This exercise is an excellent opportunity for the Navy - Marine Corps team," said Col. Ryan Rideout, Commanding Officer of the 24th MEU. "Marines and Sailors are always excited about any opportunity to work with regional partners and allies as we conduct operations at sea, from the sea, and ashore."

The Amphibious Ready Group and Marine Expeditionary Unit are forward-deployed-engaged, and postured to shape actions across the range of military operations to resolve conflict, conduct humanitarian assistance, or combat the enemy in remote, austere environments that would otherwise be inaccessible. Alligator Dagger provides a unique opportunity to enhance capabilities in critical mission sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps team.

U.S. 5th Fleet's area of operations encompasses about 2.5 million square miles of water area and includes the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman and parts of the Indian Ocean. This expanse, comprised of 20 countries, includes three critical choke points at the Strait of Hormuz, the Suez Canal and the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb at the southern tip of Yemen.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 121 conducted hot-reload exercises at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, April 6, 2017.

This signified the first time the squadron loaded ordnance onto a running F-35B Lightning II aircraft at the air station in order to prepare for real-world scenarios.

“We concentrated less on time today and more on execution of procedures,” said Maj. Adam Perlin, aircraft maintenance officer for VMFA-121. “We went step-by-step ensuring all the correct precautions were taken and getting every detail right.”

The safety of Marines during the training was emphasized through procedures the squadron has in place.

“I filled the billet as a quality assurance safety officer,” said Sgt. John Page, ordnance technician with VMFA-121. “I witnessed the bombs being loaded in a safe manner on the aircraft. Anytime we do training like this, we have to safeguard the Marines and equipment.”

While the Marines played their part in the exercise, the aircraft also played its part with its engines still turning.

“I was the pilot today,” said Perlin. “I made sure the aircraft was set up to receive the ordnance, made sure the ordnance was loaded correctly and made sure the aircraft accepted the load so I could deploy the bomb if necessary.”

Perlin added that executing the training helped build a knowledge basis and proficiency for the ordnance Marines and the aircrew. He added that it is vital to improving as a squadron and continuing to move forward toward being ready when called upon to fight.

Performing training in new environments creates opportunities for Marines to learn new things and thrive in their location.

“Everybody did a great job,” said Page. “Those who were filling new billets were able to pull through and successfully complete their tasks with no mishaps.”

VMFA-121 plans to continue training and increase their readiness as a squadron.

“Little steps like what we did today are moving the entire program along,” said Perlin. “Conducting this training for the first time here in Iwakuni and making sure we get these things right enhances our capabilities as well as the Marine Corps’ capabilities as a whole.”

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. Isaiah 17:1 (KJV)

* Does the bombing of Syria seem at all familiar to you? New puppet, same agenda! Countless times i have told you that the puppets (U.S. presidents) change but the "agenda" stays the same. For any of you who still believe Trump is your savior of America is it not finally time to wake up? Just another false flag to further their Zionist agenda. Who benefits is the question you should be asking?

Zionist Jews control Israel! There is a reason that GOD will soon bring judgment upon his beloved Israel to bring his people to their true messiah (JESUS)! When you see Damascus fall as foretold in Isaiah 17 you will know true tribulations, and this destruction will not be limited to Syria. We are dead center in the eye of the storm. I have been warning you about "the event" that will kick everything off for some time now. Now it is here! It is time to get right with GOD if you have yet to. Love one another and lift each other up in prayer to GOD daily. ((((GOD bless))))
